Mine was the 2001 U.S. Open final, not for the tennis, but for the hallmark of two sisters, African-American sisters, playing for a major title under the lights on Arthur Ashe Stadium.

The match-ups are

1998 Australian Open R32- Venus def. Serena 7/6, 6/1
1998 Rome QF- Venus def. Serena 6/4, 6/2
1999 Miami F - Venus def. Serena 6/1, 4/6, 6/4
1999 Grand Slam Cup F - Serena def. Venus 6/1, 3/6, 6/3
2000 Wimbledon SF - Venus def. Serena 6/2, 7/6
2001 Indian Wells SF - Serena def. Venus W/O (I do have to put this one down)
2001 US Open F - Venus def. Serena 6/2, 6/4
2002 Miami SF - Serena def. Venus 6/2, 6/2
2002 Roland Garros F - Serena def. Venus 7/5, 6/3
2002 Wimbledon F - Serena def. Venus 7/6, 6/3
2002 US Open F - Serena def. Venus 6/4, 6/3
2003 Australian Open F - Serena def. Venus 7/6, 3/6, 6/4
2003 Wimbledon F - Serena def. Venus 4/6, 6/4, 6/2
2005 Miami QF - Venus def. Serena 6/1, 7/6
2005 US Open R16 - Venus def. Serena 7/6, 6/2

Clay: 1-1
Hard: 5-4 Venus
Grass: 2-1 Serena
Indoor: 1-0 Serena (or 2-0 if you count the closed roof at Aussie Open to be an indoor)

The Australian, up until today, was their most contested match.

But I liked Miami 05 QF. It was the beginning of Venus' marvelous run at Wimbledon -- she finally showed signs of improvement and desire again and beating Serena for the first time in ages began it. And that 2nd set was :hearts:

Australian Open 2003. Some of the BEST tennis I have EVER seen from ANY two players. It was literally the peak of the wta tour, since then the tour has been in a bit of a tailspin and the level has dropped every year :(

Hm, it's tough.

Miami '99 was a great match, definitely. Same for Wimbledon '00 & Australian Open '03.

I agree with Wimbledon '03 , too bad Venus got so injured at the end

Since I didn't the '03 AO fianl:sad: I will have to say the '02 Wimby final.
Though won in straight sets, both displayed brillant and powerful shot-making that defined an era...
hell even the commentators were saying their ball striking was more powerful than the men:tape:

Tough. I liked Wimbledon 2000. Venus was returning so well that day. I thought the GSC final was good too.
I loved Vee's fight at Wimby 03 ... injured, barely moving and STILL took Serena to three. Even Serena said after the match that had Venus not been injured she would have been the champ that year.
I liked Miami 05 as well.

Wimbledon 03, more for all the buzz surrounding it since Venus was injured and everybody was wondering how they were gonna react. I also liked that match because it showed how much Serena loves Venus.

Don't get me wrong, I always knew she did, but Venus would always say upfront that even though she wanted to win, it was hard for her to play Serena because she always wanted the best for her. Serena almost looked like she wanted to win more than she cared about Venus. But watching her in that entire first set is beautiful to me. She didn't lose it because Venus played brilliantly or because she just hadn't found her rhythm, it's totally because she was conflicted about beating her sister that she knew was injured. That match shows that love is much more important than any GS title.

Awwww so sweet :awww: and true, I remember Tracy Austin saying how it was inexplicable that Serena's form had dropped so much from her match with Justine, but I thought it was pretty clear that Serena wasn't sure she even wanted to beat her sister.

Even after yesterdays match my favourite one still is the AO Final. One of the all time great Grand Slam Finals for me.

Can you read? I was talking about their Wimbledon 03 match, not their Oz 03 match and there isn't a person on Earth you'd be able to find that hasn't said something unkind or mean in the heat of the moment.

She did it at Wimbledon, cause i watched her do it, its part of the reason i dont like her, considering not only was it against her sister but an injured sister.... and i never saw the AO 03.....

I don't recall her doing it at Wimbledon, but even if she did...that doesn't mean she doesn't love her sister. I know i love my sisters (all 72 of them) but I've probably said worse to them to their face, not across a net. It's not ok, but it happens sometimes in the heat of the moment.

Im not arguing that she doesnt love her sister, however, 03' Wimbledon is not an example of this love... and sisterly love being better than a GS title in her eyes....

I was stating an opinion. For me it clearly shows that she loves Venus. She's obviously incredibly conflicted. If you choose to see it other wise it's ok, but it doesn't affect how I see the match at all. The question is why it's MY favorite match. And i explained so.

the oz open 03 final was their best match by some way. the tennis was of a good quality throughout and there was some spectacular points. venus's backhand was on that day as was serenas and both of their movement was top class. people that think the bangalore semi was better than the oz final 03, need to go and rewatch the oz open final.

Lots of great play from both! Points being won on winners and not ugly unforced errors.

I have only see a couple of them, including the Aussie Open, Wimb 03, Us Open. But i think that the Miami match was the most important as a Venus fan, she wanted so bad, was focused all the time and she knew she had a chance. The celebration was good , putting her arms up like FINALLY!! Hahaha that was good.
The aussie was a good quality because they forgot about the SISTER thing so they played like number 1 and number 2.

RG and Miami 2002. The outcomes was the ones I wanted to see. When I was rooting for Serena, Venus won. When I was rooting for Venus, Serena won.
But quality wise, I'd say the painful OZ and Wimbledon 2003
