Hey, sorry if this has been posted before, but I was checking out wikipedia (I know, not that reliable, but hear me out) and Ivanovic is the top seed with no sign of Henin.

Link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2008_Indian_Wells_Masters_-_Women%27s_Singles

Anyone know about this and why she's not there? Again, if this has already been discussed, sorry.

For her is much important Miami with mandatory status and about 1.500.000 bigger money prize. Since next year IW will be also mandatory with about double money prize than todays and Justine will play for sure (if no big problems with injuries). BTW... informations that she will not play at IW this season is not bombshell at all and not unknown here at WTAworld.

Were they the favorites to begin with? I would assume that everybody's expecting Ana or Maria to win. But too bad they're skipping it, the event loses a lot of star power :(

Henin doesn't like playing these two tournaments back to back. The courts are too different for her tastes. She says that it is rough on her knees to play on the two different courts.

It´s better for Justine to skip Indian Wells, because she´s in a slump right now, so she should rest and come back for Miami to defend her RUP points

the entry list is pretty bad for a tier 1 with 2.1 million prizemoney. on monday (when serenas back top 10) it will be missing 5 of the top 11 players in the world (henin, chakvetadze, venus, serena and lena d).

So what were the reasons since she won it in 2004 that she hasn't entered, or did Maria bagel her then? :weirdo:

Casey is playing?

Of course I hope that Daniela will win her third whale, but if she doesn't win she needs to go deep. It would take the load off defending her points if she could do well here again.

Also good luck to-
Kirilenko, Safarova, Dellacqua, Koryttseva, Harkleroad, Rodionova, Zakapolva, Knapp and Gallovits.

Henin generally doesn't play more than two weeks in a row because she gets injured.

I'd like to know as well. Where has she been hiding since Pattaya?

it's kinda disappointing that Henin can't play 2 tourney's in a row, it would be so exciting to see a repeat of AO '08 between Masha and her, another bagel perhaps?! on Justine's side it's ok not play in IW, cause first she doesn't have points to defend and 2nd her ranking is not threatened in any way... unlike Federer, where both Nadal and Novak is breathing down his neck....

clear favorites would definitely be Masha & Ana... but i wouldn't rule-out the up and coming young guns like, Szavay, Wozniacki, Radwanska, and the slowly rising talents from China...

Well don't forget that IW and Miami are both 2 weeks long. So that would be 4 weeks in a row. She does play 2 tournaments in a row though in some cases, like Sydney then the AO. For her (and others), sustaining a high level of play and keeping uninjured deep into both IW and Miami back to back would probably be difficult.
