I remember when Katya had a set point vs Sharapova.
Now her 2nd serve and forehand have become unbelievably weak.

Muhammed also served for the match at 6/5 in the second and got broken at love. Still a nice result for the hometown girl.

Go Asia Go...wow, Bychkova is no pushover...when she's on she is a really good player. It's also great to see Asia with the stamina at such a young age to outlast these higher ranked opponents and i hope she's still fresh for 2morrow.

Asia! :bounce:

Even if she had some blips today, I'm impressed with Asia for winning the third after being so close to finishing it in two and close in the tiebreak. A lot of players would have crumbled.

That's two three-set wins over top 100ish players.

Keep it up, girl! :D

Asia

Bychkova has a hideous forehand. Very nice backhand though, this is the first time I have seen her.

what about her last name?

Muhammad is indeed an Arabic name, but many non-Arab Muslims have it as their first or last name.

Anyway, congrats to Asia. I can't wait to see what she has to bring to the tour in the coming years.

I like Katya a lot, she is one my fav Russians, but this tournament would have meant 100 times more to Asia than to Katya so I really can't be upset or surprised at the result. Actually I'm glad Katya at least put up a bit of resistance.

Well this tournament should certainly make Asia's decision on whether or not to turn pro clearer. Looks like a resounding yes choice to me. I think Asia has a good career ahead of her. :yeah:
