I'm very surprised Coco didn't get MD
Her mom is a 6 foot 3 Olympic champion swimmer. Mom's brother is Kiki, right? A basketball star. Coco has great genetics on her side.

Who's Riza Zalameda?

Riza Zalameda is the #1 singles player for UCLA. She got this wildcard by winning a collegiate tournament hosted at Indian Wells two months ago. She played some challengers before during the summer and I think she won a small 25K tournament somewhere once.

Overall, she's okay, short but strong girl, one-handed backhand and an amazing forehand. She's not quite consistent though, but if she can have some good form, she might be able to get through the main draw, but again, people on this board have really negative attitude toward collegiate players, thinking they're nothing, so no one would have much expectations anyway

Good WC choices.

 I love that people are basing their complaints on half of one week of play. I like them, but what had Asia and Coco really done before this week to warrant Qualifying WCs let alone MDWCs? How can you complain that Asia was not included?

Asia did win a 10k last year and the player she beat in that final didn't lost another itf match for a long time.

Gail's better than half of the players on the list. She was born in 1991. Look at her results before you make a comment.

Yeah, I do. I don't think Asia had sufficiently proven herself before this week to warrant a WC. I wish she had received one, because I think she has a lot of potential, but her play when I saw her at the Acura last year was the epitome of a wasted WC. My point remains that without their performances at Las Vegas, no one would be calling for an improvement in their WC status.

In case you don't now any of diplomatic politics...
We have dual citizenship previledges for American born filipino/half filipino.
She can represent the Philippines anyway she want as long as its a "good" representation.

If i remember correctly, you also bashed Lilia for hinting of representing the Philippines come the Olympics...

C'mon, what is wrong with you being so negative with the Filipino-American Athletes...?

Maybe because of her good results this week she'll be able to get one for Miami- if they haven't already given their out yet.

I can understand why Asia didn't get a WC at Indian Wells, although even before Asia's success this week it would have been a good fowarding thinking choice had she got one. But yes, following Asia's success this week in Las Vegas there is no excuse for Asia not getting a maindraw WC at Miami, and I think that will happen and it will be deserved.
