So, with Roger now losing number 1 to Nadal, Maria always injured, and with Jankovic somehow displacing Ivanovic as the worst number 1 of all time, its fair to say I am feeling really disillusioned with tennis right now, and thus, I'm going on a long break from tennis. I'll be around from time to time, but my interest in tennis is very low right now, and I have no real interest in following it nowadays.

Laters, Maria fans! :wavey:

Lefty.

 I can see why you feel that way Edward. I hope you enjoy your break from tennis and hopefully you'll come back full time when tennis is in some better times again. :D

Im feeling exactly the same. Roger looks like her wont win a slam and will lose his number 1 ranking which is just so sad. I dont even want to think about Masha, its to sad. This has been a hell year which started to promisingly.

Aug 3rd, 2008, 04:25 AM
True. Starting from that Wimbledon loss Federer isn't himself anymore. Hell the whole of 08 was uncharacteristic Federer. I never use to prepare myself to see him fall in the early rounds. Now I'm worried for his first round more often than not. Nadal replacing Fed as world no. 1 is simply wrong to me.

WTA is so messy currently. Best player right now is Safina, which is like huh? I mean I like her but I just can't picture her as a dominant force winning slams. And the soon to be no. 1 hasn't proven herself enough.

Well, talking about Masha makes it even worse.

I think I should spend more time playing tennis instead of watching it during this US summer HC season, which has always been my favourite part of the year.

well Dan, I don't think we can afirm that

Maria must be damn pissed in see that russian got gold-silver-bronze and she wasnt there...
but WTA for sure is even more pissed in see that the 2 mains stars of the tour are injuried... :o

Ok, I have a question regarding how accurate forbes is.
Over the past years they've always published 'highest-paid athletes lists". Not one time have I seen Justine in before. Not one time except for this year, when Justine had this amazing year, all of a sudden she reportedly made 12.5 Million Dollar. She reportedly made all this money without signing any new endorsements that could have caused this tremendous increase, considering she has never been listed in the previous years.
Same for Rafa. Never did they even mention him and now, all of a sudden they list hime with 18 Millions...
He only became #1 a week ago, so it's highly impossible that his income skyrocketed like that in such short time.

Here is my question:
Does anybody else think that a) those numbers a simply made up, now that he is/she was on top of the game
b) they didn't care about them before, or
c) forbes doesn't really have a clue what they are talking about. They're just throwing in big numbers to somehow match the popularity or rank certain people have?
Do you have any other ideas?

I noticed similar things for different people already and I would really appreciate all your imput :)

I could have anything TBH so I will look.I recorded most stuff at work on the two machines there(just don't tell the boss:D )and just left them running,The BBC coverage was just outstanding, every event was shown and the tennis even had a channel to itself.I did'nt capture any tennis though as I just cannot get interested in the women's game without masha.Infact instead of watching my expensive sky tv 5 screen coverage of the USO I'm posting here instead,If this is what its like when maria retires I will stop watching the wta,I just have found no other favs, unless laura robson comes good.Kinda makes you know how justine henin fans must have gone though/going though but even worse for them.

Oh BTW play this with a player that deinterlaces videos like powerdvd or wmp, because by default vlc player has de-interlacing off and the video is interlaced.

actually other forums have the same threads as we do (girls) and still manage to keep the off topic up :p

no, but I will get it soon. I had my friend download it and test it and I wanna see if anything goes bad , for example if it has bugs or sth... I have a vista myself which cost me extra money when I bought my laptop coz it was already installed and they didn't have the "no OS" option :weirdo: but oh well I have it and it's crap. I'm waiting for a steady SP2 in high hopes that it actually may be good  and now I have you saying it's good which brings me closer to actually getting it myself, and when I think about it... it MUST be better than Vista

Windows Vista is garbage, Windows 7 on the other hand is really excellent and I recommend everyone upgrade when its released in August.

Today was an amazing day for tennis. :D Though, the French security are hopeless. :weirdo:

NAT!! Hello hello, its good to be back! Haven't seen my wifey in so long! :p

Yes, I departed at a dark time for tennis....Roger was sucking, Maria was ailing, Nadal was winning and all was bad in the world. But Roger has returned to form as the GOAT, Maria is playing again, and Nadal's dodgy knees are being ground into sawdust and finally the light is shining on tennis once again! :D

Yeah, so now is like La-la-land all over again!
Happy tennis days have come!

My life has also been sucking without Maria.... I havent realized that till I watched Maria live vs Petrova on my tv :sobbing:
is like a part of me went missing and then came back...

I now that Roger is (finally) done with the pressure of surpassing the 14th Slam I'm expecting him to get wimby crown back
Perhaps, who knows, get the actual GRAND SLAM (the 4 in a row) :rocker2:
Happy days and today was showing up my Roger's autograph for everyone, my GOAT sign :inlove:

Anyway.... I have to finish my philosophy study (my last exam is tomorrow), BUT I expect to see you more here!!
Dear husband :p

I couldnt agree with you more. I was so nervous throughout the whole match I couldnt even begin to imagine how Roger felt. This has been an amazing fortnight with Masha and Feds and also Nadal losing early :hearts:

It may sound funny given my earlier comments about Nadal, but I have developed a new found appreciation of Nadal....I don't like his game at all, and I much prefer when Roger is winning everything but I will admit that he a great sportsman....always very humble and well spoken in defeat and victory, and he's always been extremely sporting towards Roger.

So yeah, I'm not quite ready to be a Rafa-tard, but I'll probably stop bad mouthing him so often.

And where on Earth is Dan? Haven't seen the guy on MSN for ages

worse than you starting to like nadal I'm now starting to like murray:eek:,except of course when(as always seems to be the case) he gets to play on the same day/time as maria at the slams.

I think I feel the same way about Nadal now. I'm pretty sure I will never say I like his game but I think he's great for the sport. I was still pretty happy he lost though, since it was getting quite boring seeing him win almost everything this year. :o

I talked to Dan for the first time in a few months on msn a couple days ago. I think he's been pretty busy with work and etc. And he said that he's getting married soon so congrats to him! :clap2:

Andy has matured a lot in the last few years. He made some idiotic comments in his first years in tour, but he's a lot better spoken now. I find it hard to completely support him though, given that he's Scottish and all....being an Englishman, its not quite the same.

I miss Tiger Tim.

Yeah, it was hard for me to appreciate the truth...kinda had to swallow my pride a little. :o:lol: It really, REALLY hurt when he won Wimbledon last year....I felt horrendous, imagine how poor Roger must have felt. The grasscourts are a joke though...it seems to be extending to Queens now as well. I was watching the tennis earlier, and was shocked at how long the rallies are on grass now...back in the day, the points were about 2 or 3 points long, and a long rally was a rarity, but nowadays every single point seems to be a rally

Very, very pleased to hear about Dan's good news :D We should all gatecrash the wedding, and dress up as Maria clones

Ah yea, I can only watch the Wimby final up to the end of the 4th set. :( Too saddening for me to watch afterwards. The surfaces have been weird lately, the grass is getting slower and this year at RG the points ended so much faster.

Hope Dan is in for a surprise. :p

No one that really loves the beautifull game of tennis can criticize Rafa for his sportmanship... and Fed

That makes me remember a Soderling match in Rome 2009 where Rafa won quite easily 6-1 0 and on a litigeous forehand that Rafa hit Soderling showed a mark 15 to 20 centimeters of where the initial mark was and what SHOCKED me is how Rafa never complained giving the sensation that he was ready to give the point away...:o:o

And that moment I just wanted Rafa's muscles to serve a litle bit and break/crush Soderling down but just how of a sprotsman he is didn't say nothing...:o::mad::o

I've never seen Rafa breack a racket, vexe on court, complain exegaratively to the refree, say bad about a player or dishonor a player when he's badly lost... And to Fed he's allways showed great respect wich I wouldn't if I was a player:lol::lol:
