Actually I was more referring to that win over Fed last year in Canada, I know that Roger was ill at AO.
Roger is my #1 fave so I would love him to win all the matches he plays and damn to win that FO title at last!

yep... it's sad... he had at least 2 chances to get THE GRAND SLAM
but Rafa was on his way...
last year I really thought he would get it...

And Nadal  I watched the last couple of games today, gosh he has this annoying style, the ball flies 10metres above the net :help: I fail to understand how someone with that kind of game can be on top  And how the hell did he manage to reach the Wimbledon final last year and almost managed to win over Federer? These points are coming off this season, after Wimbledon Novak should overtake Nadal in the rankings.

Well... Nadal was a more defensive player before
now he's better on attack, a top spin ball doesn't mean that is a slow ball...
Guillhermo Willas (or is Villas - I just know how to speak :o ) had the same type of ball
we think, once that the ball doesn't go flat over the net, that is a slow ball, but here and there you can watch by those cameras that give us the view of the player and we can see how fast Nadal ball goes
He's not like Hewitt that CANNOT attack (sorry Hewitt, I love you but is true)
he's like a hewitt that can attack

The thing with Nole is that I'm litle dissapointed with his attitudes those days.... :o
I wan the funny, charming and HUMBLE Nole back...

Why do I feel apathetic about Nadal losing today?

I should feel overjoyed! Elated! But no no...

.....instead I find myself wishing it was Novak.

Damn you Novak! You have made me realise how petty my hatred of Nadal was! But now...now I have a justified hatred....towards you! you cheating bastard!

I have no idea what Novak says because I hardly ever follow ATP, I visit MTF rarely, mainly because posters there are 1000times worse than here. However, I agree that his behaviour has changed, I think that he feels that his a star now and he can get away with a lot of things  For that number one quote of his, isn't it obvious that he wants to be #1? He's even capable of doing it this year IMO although I don't want him to  He's beaten Fed, he's beaten Nadal so his aspirations are understandable to me :)

Natasc, I saw the explanation about your name, Nathanial, or something like that, so you are a guy? Do you mind if I call you Natasha in my mind, because it has more Russian connotations with Maria Sharapova than Nathanial does? Just SAY NO if you want me to stop doing it.

Nothing wrong with hating them if you want to do that. Only way to fix those arrogant bastards is to ban them permanently. However that is more easily said than finally done.

What a stupid loss for Rafa to stupid Ferrero anyway this was to happen cuz this guy isn't a superman who can chain up all clay tournaments and win them...

Djoko just can't stop giving people lessons after his win in AOS.. His arrogancy starts to get on peoples nerves... While every thing is going right he just keeps bragging telling every one how to play their tennis (Especially when he made that remark on how english players where spoiled) but when probably next year his tennis will be less effective...
I've allways hated Federer but I'd REALLY REALLY like Fed top come back at his best level just to control Djoko's develloping stupid eagerness...

btw.. Nole that on the beggining os this week said that he's playing on be number 1 this year, played a awful match
and he better step up his level or Almagro will totally blow him up!

Time to Nole take a look at his past and see that is better your work hard and do things, than keep talking
after all... it's not the "talking" that may lead him to the top.

talking never hurts.:topic: For example, I is a Chinese General. How many Americans never new, because they never talked about it, that Vietnam was the battleground for the whole of China, and so doing never knew what war they lost. It isn't just about talking big, but talking can undermine your opponent.

Nadal losing on clay to ferroro is surprising only cause of Nadal's drop in level and Ferrero finding his weapons again. I mean after all he's a FO winner before, how bad can he be?

As for Djokovic, I wish someone can tame him too. Right now federer is the best choice.

on the WTA it's a great day so far!!
SW losing and Elena Dementieva winning!!
now for be a perfect day Ana (Ivanovic) must win as well!!
so I will see 2 players that I love playing live (once we only get the semis here)

but well.. it's a weird day for WTA and ATP... all underdogs winning so far...
and I do consider Andy a underdog on clay...

What are some of the worst things one has to do to get into professional tennis, apart from signing your life away with never ending tournaments, constant jet travel, and being fined if you don't appear where you have agreed to appear?

For instance, are there other ultimatums (ultimatia?), or even threats of physical harm or even death if this or that is not complied with? How about sleeping with managers etc in order to get into a contract or out of one. Are there any stories or rumors which are common knowledge on the circuit, or is this the wrong place to discuss such things (for my upcoming issue on professional sport for the CPJ?

For instance I have a friend in Belgrade Serbia, which is the former Yugoslavia, and I understand that since the war ended, conditions have not improved all that much economically, and it is very difficult to get a job, even for married couples, and once people have one they try to hold on to it. Do the Serbians speak about difficulty with passports and so on, or are they untouched by it.

Does anyone know if Masha has any secrets (apart from the boy who played snap with her in an airport in Rome? when she was 13 year old? Everyone knows about that now I think.
:tape::drink::secret::zzz::toothy::music:

mal
May 11th, 2008, 11:11 AM
Is it true that Masha's real opponent in her race to be #1 is ana? Not in the points race, but in the win loss record of the top 10 players?

Is she aware of this and deliberately staying away from a confrontation, or is it more complicated than that? With the second best win loss record of the top ten, and with ana having only one more win than loss, if she loses another one, her losses will be more than 50%, while if she wins two, they will be still only close to 50% with her having played so many fewer matches than Maria overall?

When will each of these two come up against another top ten player next, and how many before they meet again? Who will win then?

Clijters for example asked after pension to not figure anymore in the rankings wich was not the case o Davenport for ex.

People in GM are acting like someone died. There's this thread opened by Zerosofinfinity or whatever and people are saying that they won't watch tennis anymore, that they lost interest. Gosh, I don't understand that at all. It's not the end of the world that someone retired. I guess it really depends...

theres no doubt in my mind maria will retire 24 or 25,that gives us probaley 4 years,I see none of the up and comers to have any special talent, like a maria or hingis at 16,I will still watch wta but mostly atp,the only way I could stay interested is if there was a promising brit girl but theres not much chance of that, gotta really praise the williams sisters for still going and having the desire after all these years and although life for maria would be a lot easier without them I would still miss them if they retired, infact the way they are still going they might still be active when maria retires if my guess is right:lol:

funny hum.. I think that too
but more and more I get the feeling that Maria really loves about the tennis isn't just the tennis itself, it's the challenge.
Chanllenges that she had loads of them when she was younger and came to the US
and challegens that live by hard matches
she's very passionate about tennis

and even if she want's to say "bye bye" to tennis at 25 she will have to find a way to find some other challenge
'cause if you get Sampras, McEnroe, Borg, Graffi they will say how much they miss that feeling of the crowd (for you or against you), the challenge, the win and everything else
gosh.. they even created the Masters Tour!!

I never got this feeling from Henin, just like I don't get from Roger
this deeply love for challenge
Henin and Roger love tennis more than the challenge itself, Henin mostly.

For players as Nadal, Roddick, Maria, Djokovic and others that are so competitive it will be hard to say goodbye for tennis
'cause tennis has unreplaceble feelings...
It's easier say than done...

I would lose almost all my interest for tennis if Maria stops, I've been following tennis since I saw Graf play, but kinda stopped following it after she quit, with the exception of the slams, there is where I noticed Maria at Wimbledon in 2003, she is really the first player I've ever been so well, involved in I guess, she is by far my biggest fav of all time.

I'm sure those watching tennis now because of Sharapova will not stop watching when she retires, ans will still want to watch her beating the new players coming along now.

well... Safin smashs his racket at pretty much everything!! :o
the funny (or interesting) part is to see his face while he's doing it..
usually when the player is doing this he(she) is pissed of.. and you can see how mad they're

Three aces and two kings (full house) is the highest hand if one of the kings is not the same suit as the three aces. Eg A♥ A♦ A♠ K♦ K♣, or even 2 Q.

it shows theier passion...their deisire for win
how eager, how much they want to win
play without celebrating is playing without emotion and tennis is all about emotion for me
that's why I don't like Roger "I-am-the-robot" attitude sometimes
at least he was celbrating and was showing that he was mad today...

Maria's game style is what I like, plus her entertaining personality (I can't find that in Nadal). And don't compare her fist pumps to Nadal's
For example, I like Ivanovic but I think that she could cut down the number of ajdes/come ons she screams.
Novak does is after important points/great rallies
Of course it shows their passion and desire to win, I'm not denying that, good for them.
And about Roger. I prefer him to stay calm. Today he was screaming a lot and we knew that he wanted it badly and that was pissed that he made so many stupid decisions on important points. And IMO Nadal seeing how annoyed Roger was, turned himself on and didn't let Roger come back in the 3rd

Maria and Ana celebrations are worse than rafa's one...
mainly because, as I have been reading a lot about it those days, the WTA circuit has no or almost zero space for friendship
so the fact that they hate each other mostly, helps to the whole huge celebrations after the points
I would put Maria, Ana, Serena and Henin as the biggest "celebraters" of the circuit...

Maria x Serena
Serena x Henin
Ana x Jelena
-> in those matches are some really crazy celebrations!!

the same that most of the top players (except Roger) do at the Masters Cup: NOTHING
this circuit ie becoming ridiculous!!
At the MC, what is supose to we see the best tennis we see the worse with many W.O.
bad poor tennis level

the circuit is killing the players and so is killing our chances to see decent tennis on the final tournaments
that's why we see so many upsets there...

I heard thaT Rafa fot together with Roger and called Nole as well to be part of a front that will discuss this schedule with ATP.
Hope they do something...'cause is getting ridiculous... :o

Federer should add a 2 handed backhand to his arsenal

:spit: :haha:
I have a better idea... see what Roger says here:

I mean, I've always said it three years ago already: He plays like two forehands from the baseline, you know, because he has an open stance on both sides. I can't do that, so I lose a meter or two here and there from the baseline. So he's got a huge advantage in this aspect, you know.

Maybe Roger should trade his BH in one FH..

-EDITED-

Funny thing is that Roger says about Nadal that Maria is pretty much the same..'cause she used to play with both hands right (or something like this)

I don't know how he grew up doing that, you know, but it's definitely ‑‑ I think that's very difficult, and maybe he's got the great advantage as well that in his normal life he's right handed by nature and not a lefty.

-EDITED-

Funny thing is that Roger says about Nadal that Maria is pretty much the same..'cause she used to play with both hands right (or something like this)Yeah Maria is more left handed than right, which helps her BH. Theres been new studies in sport that suggest that for a right handed person the right way to bat or hit is left-handed and vice-versa for lefties. In cricket theres a lot more left-handed batsmen these days who are right handed in everything else.

Kinda like this one:

MARIA SHARAPOVA admits she fancies a quick bit of doubles action with ORLANDO BLOOM.

The tennis ace reckons the English actor and star of the Pirates Of The Caribbean movies is a smasher and said she'd jump at the chance to get sweaty with him on the court.

She told me: "I really liked him a lot in a few of his movies and I actually got to meet him at a Vanity Fair party.

"He is really attractive, really sweet and so very English."

Maria, in Miami to promote the new Top Spin 3 computer game, also revealed she's become a big fan of the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 next-generation gaming consoles - because they make her virtual likeness even sexier.

She added: "My character in the game is pretty real from what I've seen. Considering what I looked like about four years ago in video games, at least I've got a little better looking."

Maybe she should send Orlando a copy to play.
