Maria will move up to 15th seed as Golovin and Azarenka have pulled out ;)
Okay.. :p So that would change her draw? Hopefully in a positive way..

Mar 10th, 2008, 04:15 PM
C'mon Makiri! Let's put at stop to this terrible rut that you're in once and for all!!! I'm keeping my fingers & toes crossed for a good showing here. I even had a bowl of Lucky Charms cereal for a week (maybe you should too!) Carry that necklace with the blue gem stone that lollipop_girl supposedly given to you for confidence. Let's turn those negatives into positives. What better way to do that is to win the 1st set, lose the 2nd set, but DOMINATE AND WIN the 3rd set outright!!!:bigclap: Godspeed Makiri!!!

Mar 10th, 2008, 10:39 PM
Bye in first round, possible match up with Wozniacki. :o

Not a very good draw.

Mar 10th, 2008, 10:55 PM
Probably Wozniacki in the second, indeed...
She haven't played Caroline before.. But Maria's shape could be better..

Mar 10th, 2008, 11:09 PM
Caro possibly in round 2

Good luck Maria :rocker2:

Mar 11th, 2008, 02:46 AM
Judging from Maria's recent form, I don't know if I expect her to get through Wozniacki in R2 if Caro makes it there.

Good luck, Maria! Make this a good tournament

Makiri`s draw looks very interesting with a likely second round match up against Caroline. I really feel that if she can win that match, then it would greatly boost her confidence. I hope that Makiri will do well in Indian Wells. We need our favorite little fighter back.

Mar 11th, 2008, 06:55 AM
The problem with Maria is mainly in her head, I hope she's been able to work on it a bit. I like her her chances i don't know why but I'm feeling confident. Maria playing well can win. So just good luck Masha, give it your all. :)

Mar 11th, 2008, 02:11 PM
not a bad draw good luck makiri :D hopfully a good result

Mar 11th, 2008, 03:36 PM
I hopefully a good result for maria!

Goo mariki!

Mar 11th, 2008, 05:24 PM
very tough draw for Maria imo

Wozniacki was the best unseeded player she could meet in the 2nd round :(

Mar 11th, 2008, 08:31 PM
Agree with that, a very tough draw.
Caroline plays well. From what I've seen she's got problems against hard hitters like Sharapova (who crushed her in Doha), Davenport (loss 0-6 2-6) or Ivanovic.
And we all know that Maria is not a hard hitter.
On the other hand, Wozniacki is still a very young unstable player, so she has her ups and downs.
Anyway, Maria has to start winning something if she thinks about at least staying in top30.
GL to her :)

Lisa Raymond is definitely a huge upgrade as a partner for Makiri. Their first round match looks very interesting with them going up against the now reunited Hantuchyama.

Maria and Lisa teaming up

This should be a huge boost for Maria as Lisa's a quality partner :worship:

Bad luck, first time playing together looks like it took them a while to get into the match. Oh well, good luck in singles that's more important.

Wozniacki is the favourite today based on recent form, good luck Maria

Mar 14th, 2008, 05:21 PM
It can rather be a good result considering her singles.
Now, She can focus on her singles only like AO.

Mar 15th, 2008, 02:27 AM
Maria has played terrible in doubles this year and I fear that has hurt her singles game. Wozniacki has played better than Maria this year and will think she can routine Makiri. Maria needs to play well and cause Caroline to doubt herself.

Mar 15th, 2008, 02:41 AM
Mariki lost first set 2:6 :(

Mar 15th, 2008, 02:43 AM
Damn :( Fight Maria

What a pathetic display of tennis from Makiri. :( She really has a serious lack of toughness with the way she crumbled after getting broken in the first set. I don`t know what else to say other than Makiri really needs to take a long look in the mirror, because she`s too good to be losing like this.

Mar 15th, 2008, 03:26 AM
I think Maria's career is in some trouble now. She's in a bad slump with no end in sight. :( I expected Wozniacki to beat Kirilenko but not so badly as the 6-2 6-0 score indicates. And Maria terrible play on hard courts her best surface is alarming. If Masha doesn't win a match in Miami who knows how long her losing streak will grow during the clay court season.

I didn't see all of these problems for Makiri after she finally made the 4th round of a grand slam for the first time at the 2008 Australian Open. But blowing so many matches since the one to Hantuchova in Melbourne has set Maria's game adrift. I hope Eric Van Harpen can coach her out of this mess. But I have my doubts about that. Perhaps Maria is uncoachable. Or maybe Masha's father Yuri who is controlling her career is getting in the way of things. Who knows. But one thing I do know is Maria's year is sliding out of control after a good start to 2008. :banghead:

Mar 15th, 2008, 03:32 AM

Mar 15th, 2008, 04:32 AM
That was really bad, esp. the bagel part...
Seriously I saw both Caroline and Makiri play at AO at Makiri was by far the better player, Caroline was extremely shaky in all her groundstrokes... not compact enough.
Anyways I actually expected Makiri to win but guess not today... she'll be back!

Mar 15th, 2008, 06:59 AM
It is pretty clear that Maria needs to take a break. Nothing is going right for her. She definately has had a hard time getting over her Australian Open loss. She isn't going to win many matches in her current state and continued lossed will eliminate whatever confidence she has left. Maria has to get away from tennis for a few weeks. Whether that means going home or going on a vacation, she needs to do it. Maria proved in the 3rd round of the Aussie Open that she can compete at a high level. She needs to get back to that. The talent is there. She just has to find a way to get the belief back

Mar 15th, 2008, 01:39 PM
I agree the only thing that's going to help her now is if she takes a break and clears her head. She's just gonna keep having these matches and sink lower and lower till she has no confidence no motivation and no determination at all. Maria

Mar 15th, 2008, 05:29 PM
Expected loss  but very harsh and shocking scoreline :( Poor Masha :awww:
I agree that a break is what she needs now :awww:

Mar 15th, 2008, 07:32 PM
someone ought to tell me what's happening. Maria's score after Aussie Open: 4 tournaments 5 matches 4 losses. incredible.

Mar 15th, 2008, 09:07 PM
winning two games against a young player ! horrible performance !:(

Mar 16th, 2008, 01:02 AM
Karolina (officialy known as Caroline) is Danish Pole who presented very well on Australian Open. She wasn't good rival if Maria wanted to break her poor performance. Maria need to make some forceful win but today it's quite hard to find relevant opponent...

Mar 16th, 2008, 01:48 AM
Makiri... Where's the fight??? Where's the desire??? Where's the passion??? Where's the heart??? Along with everyone else, it's definitely time for you to take a break and clear your mind, but something tells me you're not going to do that...

Mar 16th, 2008, 02:33 AM
why is she not going to do that? She MUST do it as fast as possible! We support you Maria!

Mar 16th, 2008, 05:09 AM
Maria.

Such a disappointing loss. And I don't know when this will end. Way too talented to be losing like this.

Mar 16th, 2008, 09:56 AM
It is a disappointing loss. Well, with her form right now, maybe it was a little expected, but I expect Maria K to beat Caroline most of the time. Caroline has some power and rallies well, but her technique is a little awkward, and her serve can be shaky and sometimes off-balance, so I think Maria should be able to outplay her. I didn't see the match though, so I don't really know what happened out there. Did you guys see it? Hopefully Maria will find her rhythm soon.

Mar 16th, 2008, 02:27 PM
Dear Howard, what could be happened out there if Maria lost 2-6 0-6? And match lasted 01:11?

Mar 17th, 2008, 04:14 AM
I just hope we don't have another slump. :sobbing: I can't handle it I think.

Mar 17th, 2008, 08:25 AM
I just hope we don't have another slump. :sobbing: I can't handle it I think.

Me either :sobbing: It's already so horrible.

Mar 17th, 2008, 01:34 PM
It is slump but what is the reason? Knee, mentality? Maybe Maria falled in love...

Mar 17th, 2008, 05:03 PM
the conditions were really awful during Maria's match, the wind was blowing hard that day

that doesn't explain the result, but it was a factor...also Wozniacki is playing really well at the moment, yesterday she defeated Nakamura 6-0 6-2

Maria was in the crowd yesterday supporting Igor in his match against Fish at IW :) Now it's not a good time to take a break with Miami coming up, after that there's more time to regroup for the clay court season.

Mar 17th, 2008, 07:21 PM
Woźniacka could make great result in USA tourneys. She wasn't good opponent for Maria if she wanted to break a deadlock.

Labamba, how do you know Maria was seen in Igor's match? Are there any off-court info around the Indian Wells?
