the way she was stuffing herself with her hands, with grandma's chocolate cake, this loss was inevitable. I guess Alex spends more time thinking of what store should be painted on her bathroom wall next than about practicing tennis

No, I don't think she should retire, I don't know what's wrong with her lately because I haven't seen her play in a very long time. I just hopes she can get her form back that brought her in the top-30.

Everything began when she withdraw from Charleston.. Well I can't exactly say, some people say that she's too overweighted and that's why so many losses...

I hope she can tide her things up again, and starts to train more, cause I think she's actually lacking trainning.

Well there's nothing I can do, but only wish her good luck and for her not give up. She still has so many tennis to play, I don't think she should retire. She's young and I'm definetely right she will realize these matches, these latest matches she's been playing and will do something.

Go Alex! Comeback strong at LA now!

I thought this was the typical retire thread, Free, you got me:o

...but to answer your question: YUP

Come on Alex get yourself together, I am not a fan but I felt really bad for her today with that scoreline. :o

MAYBE HER GRANNY DONT LIKE HER? WHY THE HELL WOULD SHE BE GIVING AN OVERWEIGHT "WORLD CLASS ATHLETE" F'ING CHOCALATE CAKE. MAYBE HER GRANNY IS NOT A FAN, MAYBE HER GRANNY IS A ANNA SUPPORTER ON THIS BOARD...WHAT IF HER GRANNY WAS IN THE SCORING THREAD DURING THE MATCH ROOTING FOR A DOUBLE BAGEL..."COME ON ANNA, GIVE HER ASS A DOUBLE BAGEL AND I WILL FINISH HER OFF WITH A NICE FAT SLICE OF CHOCOLATE CAKE WHEN SHE GETS OFF THE COURT"...ROTFL...

well accroding to her she got injured after the french is finding it difficult to find her old form....but she does need to loose some weight this is something which was quite evident even when she was close to the top20..

I was very surprised to see STevenson bageled by Anna K. that is bad. I haven't seen Alex play in a long time so I don't know what is up with her game, but to lose that badly on your home turf is NOT good.

LOL@Freethinker ;)

I tell you, getting beaten by Anna K does beg the question. If I were ALex, though, I'd just chalk it up to Solomon's wisdom. He's a great coach. Anna will continue to benefit from his guidance. But still, Alex has her work cut out for her going forward.

To those who think Alex should retire..

Well....um....no. Just no.

Should Vince Spadea have retired when the other players started calling him "Black Jack" after 21 consecutive losses? Should Lucic have retired when winning a match was a big deal? Should Capriati have retired when she went almost a full year w/out a single match win? Should Bradshaw retire because of her attrocious losing streak? Should Kournikova have retired because of her results early in the year? Should every player in Satellite qualies retire because they will never make it big? No!

Every player goes through bad patches in their career. It happened to Steffi, Monica, both Martinas, Chrissie, etc; It's how you deal with it and recover from it. Whether or not Stevenson's tennis sucks AT THE MOMENT is one thing. It does right now. However, she had a good fall season last year and a good 3 months to begin the year. Now, after a few bad losses, people on the board are discussing retirement for a 21 year old! What bullshit! She'll get it together eventually. And even if she does not, there a ton of people who would give their left arm for her results. But to talk about her hanging up is pure crap.

She needs to just quiet down and do her talking with her racquet...She and her family have been guilty of too much mouth!

Stevenson has a great serve, great backhand and decent forehand. She needs to be in much better shape to be able to set up her shots because when she isn't fit she gets rushed and makes WAY too many UE's. I kinda feel sorry for her because her mother is the epitome of a bitch. I get the feeling she is Svengalian in a way. I do agree that she needs to do more talking with her racket and not her mouth.

No, she shouldn't retire. I do think her mom needs to retire from being her coach/trainer/one-woman-publicity-machine, though.

Let her eat cake, I say.
Then send mommy off to the guillotine(or at least out of her life)

I'd stuff myself too if my parent hovered around me 24/7.

I think this about time for Alexandra to thinking about retirement from the tour....she's very "Intermittent"....at the beginning of 2002 season, she's came strongly, but start from the middle of the season, she's been going down the hill!

No. She should work harder.

O the contrary, Samantha Stevenson should look for a job and leave Alexandra alone.
