View Full Version : I don't understand Lindsay...

On so many occasions she claimed that Corina is her very close friend of hers and that they will play doubles again when Corina comes back.

Thanks to Corina’s strengths, this moment has happened. Corina is back to play at her first WTA tournament after recovery. Why wouldn’t Lindsay want to support her in this comeback?

I was personally very surprised not to see them together….

Where is it written that the ONLY way to support one is to play doubles with them?

I'm thinking Lindsay coming back from injury has something to do with her decision. Lindsay's not playing doubles is she?

I don't think she should push herself and play doubles. I think she's smart to just play singles for awhile until she sees how her knees hold up.

I didn't say that it was the ONLY way to support... But I bet it would have been one of the most important for Corina who did mention (when she was in the hospital) that she was missing the game...

Sonja, it is probably true..........

Lindsay said in her last press com that she was not ever going to play doubles again, because of her knee.

if you're right, Roseie then that has just got to be one of the weirdest pieces of (reverse) logic i have heard.
if her knee is not fully healed then is she not better off concentrating on a Doubles career where she (logically) doesn't have to work the whole court?

I think they'll play together again. Only in the future. Maybe next year, so don't worry, I'm sure will see these two together again.

Perhaps Lindsay ONLY want to focus for her Single match first at the moment.......as you know, she's only just returned to the tour last week, give her a break, please!

I'm sorry, but this is a silly thread. Lindsay said in a Stanford interview that she was just getting used to being back on the court and didn't want to overexert herself by playing BOTH singles and doubles.

Just because Lindsay didn't play doubles with Corina, it doesn't mean that she's not supporting her friend's comeback. To somehow make that conclusion is just plain ridiculous, and I'm sure Corina fully understood Lindsay's situation well.

That having been said, I do bet Lindsay will return to playing doubles in a few months and she will Corina will indeed team up sometime in the future.

Maybe it is plain ridiculous to say that... But I'm sure that it would have meant so much more to Corina to play her FIRST tournament after recovery with her long-time friend and partner...

btw, Corina's first match was a huge deal to a crowd and organizers... her (and Po) match was scheduled to be played in the Stadium.

First - Welcome Back to both Lindsay and Corina

Secondly - Right now (with Lindsay) just returning to the tour herself.... Lindsay needs to first support Lindsay.

This is not meant to take anything away from Corina....

Give Lindsay a little time.

Perhaps the two have discussed this and Corina understands and respects Lindsay decision.

Lindsay could still be supporting/being a true friend to Corina in other ways...

guys, Roseie is right. Lindsay did say she wasn't going to play doubles anymore. it was in her press conference. I'm sure she didn't mean NEVER, but she isn't going to have a regular doubles partner anymore. I'm sad not to see her playing with Corina, but I think she is making the right decision.

There was an interview with Corina last week or so in which she said she fully understood Lindsay, why she didnt want to play doubles again.

if Lindsay would play with Corina out of pittyness then she would not be a good friend imho!
