View Full Version : Kim has haters?

It seems like it, but would you generally say she has them like the Williams, Hingis and Capriati? Some people hate her just because she is Lleyton's girlfriend, true?

I've never been able to figure out why anyone would hate Kim or Monica. I think it is generally just fans of rival players who can't handle the competition.

I don't hate any player, but I don't support Kim. I find her rather dull, really. Different players have different appeals, and if 'sweet' amd 'nice' is what you like, I'm sure Kim's your girl. I don't have much time for either of those things.

One of my close friends dislikes Kim cuz she's dating Lleyton :fiery: :fiery: :fiery:

Reasons I've also read for not liking Kim: she's so sweet that it's fake ( ) and that she's, get this, arrogant   Needless to say I don't agree with any of that :fiery:

That's interesting Satrista. Usually, I like weird players. Andy Roddick, Guga, Marat Safin, Marcelo Rios, and Federer can be a bit weird but I am sure few people agree with that. But I find on the women's side, we don't have players like that, who scream and throw their racket and make controversial statements on and off the court and make the audience laugh. I think Serena is the closest--and I am a huge Serena fan! She is so "unlady-like" with all her screaming! LOL! There are not many players like that on the women's side. I can't really say why I love Kim then, but she is my favorite, I am devoted to her. Oh well. I'll figure out why later.

irma
Jul 28th, 2002, 07:23 PM
my favs are mostly weird too(and I include steffi in that too okee she was not weird on court but she said some very strange things in interviews people often didn't read)
but Kimmy is so normal but lucky she had a weird and controversial boyfriend that makes up for it again:);)
oh well her tennis is great to watch too:)

angele - I don't think Kim is fake. I think she's perfectly genuine. I just don't like 'sweet', I don't see 'sweet' or 'nice' as characteristics to recommend me to a person. Edgy, intelligent, controversial, bitchy - like Mrs Guga, that's what I like. But there's nothing intriguing about Kim.

Mrs Guga - no-one's been able to live up to Irina Spirlea

That would be Jenn in a nutshell ;) Though Serena makes a good case too.

I didn't mean you at all when I said that sartrista. There are some people who i've seen come right out and say they think Kim is fake which is pure crap imo and many others. Also your reasons for not liking Kim are totally genuine. All players can't appeal to all players. However there is a difference between not liking and not supporting a player and hating a player. And a couple of this board, who shall remain nameless, seem to have something major against Kim

and when they can't justify that statement then they say that she has an arrogant look on court LMAO

She said when you are good you get bashed, not you HAVE to be good to get bashed, learn English.

Anyway I was in the chat last night for Kim v. Lindsay, and a poster (who I will not name) was saying how Kim needed a whooping and how weak she is and well...he/she was ripping her apart. He said Venus is so much stronger and faster and I replied I think it's the other way around. So yea, she has haters. Why?

1) She's beaten popular players. It's hard to like someone who has beaten top players.

2) She is good.

3) She makes nice comments about people. She has said many nice things about Hingis, which I'm sure gets on peoples nerves.

4) She is proclaimed as having everything the Williams sisters have, but also finesse. I think some Williams fans feel threatened by that.

'Haters'? as in, people who root for you to lose even if they have no idea who you're playing?

People who refuse to admit you have any talent at all even after winning GS titles? (Well, TIer II's in Kim's case.)

People who denigrate everything from your looks, to your intelligence, to your intelligence?

People who accuse you of crimes?

No, Kim doesn't have 'haters', and neither do most of the tour.

Even Anna K barely has any anymore. There are still people who root against her no matter what, but they are rather few. A few folks just kind of pity her in a weird way. She's become irrelevant to most fans, where tennis is concerned.

Even Jenn, who some people really dislike, is not a player you ever hear people questioning her talent or intelligence.

Ditto Martina.

Dislike is part of sports. When your negative feelings toward a player blind you to talent, intelligence, character or any need for supporting facts, THEN you're up to 'hate'.

Kim is not my favourite player but I like her...

Kim is one of the sweetest players on tour, though she doesn't have good looks like Martina, Anna, Daniela, Elena D and Dokic she is a nice person.

I read somewhere that after lindsay beat her 7-6 in the 3rd set of the semis at the season ending championship in germany, Kim actually left a 'good luck' note on davenport's locker or something...I think that was really sweet and speaks alot about her personality.

And saying that Kim is fake is bs... she is such a sweetie, I mean how can you ever hate her, or even dislike her?

4) She is proclaimed as having everything the Williams sisters have, but also finesse. I think some Williams fans feel threatened by that.

'threatened'?

I rather like Kimmie, so I need to be careful how I say this. There are a couple things the Williams sisters have that Kim does not.

Serena 3 GS singles, 5 GS doubles, 2 GS mixed, 6 Tier I singles
Venus 4 GS singles, 5 GS doubles, 2 GS mixed, 4 Tier I singles

You can fill in the comparable numbers for Kim

Kim _ GS singles, _ GS doubles, _ GS mixed, _ Tier I singles

Kim is 19 years old. at the same age Venus had already won three Tier I. Serena had already won the USopen and one Tier I title. Williams fans don't find the inability of the rest of the tour to compete wonderful. I'd rather watch Venus and Serena play matches where the opponent forces them to play well. Even at the risk of an occasional loss. After V & S, my fave are Lindsay, Justine and Kim. Most Williams fans want to see the Belgians do well. They have cool games, and they show up to win, not just look good.

'threatened'?

Quite the contrary. We need MORE players willing to step up and compete like Kim. Watching Venus crush the RG draw (til the finals) was fun, but not very compelling tennis. Had Kim been heathy there, I might have seen a REALLY good match with a Williams sister in it at RG besides Jenn vs Serena.

P4E, you have to admit that Volcana was forced into bringing in the ammo. ;) It didn't have to be this way on this thread but the comment about the Williamses feeling "threatened" evidentally compelled Volcana to throw down his trump card. It's not an attempt to humiliate Kim; it's the reality in comparing her accomplishments as a 19 yr. old vs. Venus and Serena. Bringing up Lindsay is grasping for straws but if it makes you feel better... :p

I am sorry, I am going to be blunt. This isn't to be rude to you Volcana, but I just have to say "Who cares!" LOL! That word, haters, it is slang. To define it, to an extent where Jennifer and Anna don't have haters anymore, then you are really dissecting that word and have too much time and analyzing on your hands--because Jennifer and Anna DO have haters--A LOT. It's a word... a slang. People use the word "gay" to label a homosexual. It just doesn't mean "happy" any more. Nobody cares. The term "hater" is not what is in question here. LOL! The question is, does Kim have haters?! I am sorry... --to sound rude, but, dude, I mean, who uses a word for what it is worth anymore, especially a slang word such as "haters!" Good post, Mrs Gee! I don't think a lot of people (members of this board included) realize that "hater" comes from the hip hop term "playa hatah" or "playa hatin'". LMAO! For you it is about hatred und bias. You have failed and you will continue to be miserable. What do mean about hating Kim? Hate Kim as in not recognizing her amazing talents and even more amazing personality? You are one weird individual and the only thing that continues to unmask you, irrespective of the login name you choose is your pathetic hatred of Venus and Serena. Yes pathetic hatred defined as follows:
------------------------------------------
quote by Volcano:
'Haters'? as in, people who root for you to lose even if they have no idea who you're playing?

People who refuse to admit you have any talent at all even after winning GS titles? (Well, TIer II's in Kim's case.)

And yes Volcano may not want a direct comparison with Hingis at the age of 19, because Venus did not play juniors. She was apparently playing Juniors in the professional tour and Martina whipped her good. Martina at 21 is older than 75% of the WTA players in experience. It still does not take anything away from her achievements. She was and is still a great champion. Heres hoping she will come back soon and healthy.

I can't speak for all williams fans but from what I have seen, williams fans cheer on kim and justine and chanda and alexandra and jelena and sometimes anna just because she needs all the cheers she can get.

Kim is a great player but she is not in the league of venus and serena. Will she beat them, of course, hopefully in a battle! That still does not put her accomplishments or abilities on the same level, yet.

As time goes by I am sure Kim and Justine will improve and then we will get to see more slam bang tennis. until then to compare the accomplishments between the two is just ridiculous.

Also back in 1997 martina was a better player than venus no question and now in 2002 venus is a better player than martina. times change, games develop and grow and if they dont you get passed by.

Kim's Great! There's nothing not to like about her!

Kim's just generally a nice person and I'm surprised people get so paranoid about it and wonder whether it's real or not. Kim's just being Kim!

Besides she's not always such a happy optimistic person. A couple of times on court when she's being beat she's got into a temper and through her racket down or kicked the ball away.

I personally like that because it shows her passion to win!

Nan Cu

I wonder about Kim's sweetness.

Look at her choice of a mate. Lleyton is full-throtted, blue-blooded racist. Did you see the way she came to his aid at last year's USO? I was very dissappointed. Her handling of the situation gave me an insight into her psyche. It spoke volumes.

How can someone so seemingly meek and mild love another so vile, and hateful?

Well, you know what they say about birds of a feather...

As though I hate Venus and Serena? Please, I do not like them at all, which includes their games, personalities, and most of their fans, but hate? No.

"Excuse me the Williams fans do not hate Kim neither do they feel threatend and that is a fact."

Don't generalize! I was referring to a Williams fan in a chat who clearly disliked everything about Clijsters. So you can't speak for everyone.

"If Venus looses to Kim, it is because Kim played great. It is all baout competition. For you it is about hatred und bias. You have failed and you will continue to be miserable."

Hatred "und" bias? I have failed? At what? Learn sentence structure and write back. And miserable? Half the things I say are with a smirk on my face because I know how silly people like you will react.

"What do mean about hating Kim? Hate Kim as in not recognizing her amazing talents and even more amazing personality?"

I wish I could understand the alien language you write in, but I will guess that was supposed to be sarcasm. Whatever. I ask no one to recognize anything about Clijsters, I just ask them not to call her slow and weak and someone who needs a whipping.

"You are one weird individual"

Please, you don't even know me so don't start getting on personal levels okay? If you are that moronic to judge someone based solely on what they think about a GAME than you have serious issues you need to deal with. I have heated arguments with tons of people on these boards but am sure that most of them are very nice individuals.

"i think that hes complaining about grammar cuz thats all there's left to complain about...before it was they dont play enough (then they play more), all they do is hit the ball hard (now after venus wins BOTW an article says that she had finesse), their matches against each other are boring (they up the ante at wimbledon), no one will watch womens tennis (they got a bigger rating than the men's final)...so now he attacks the fans..."

I'm sorry, go through my post history and tell me when I ever complained they don't play enough. When did I ever say no one will watch women's tennis? I give them credit for running fast, not just hitting the ball hard. So you're 1/4 (I find their matches boring).

"You're a hypocrite, because first you say...
"Please, I do not like them at all, which includes their games, personalities, and most of their fans, but hate? No."

then you say...

"Please, you don't even know me so don't start getting on personal levels okay?"

You dont want people to judge you because they dont know you when you are doing the same thing to the williams sisters..."

I don't like the Williams sisters or their games or personalities, BUT, I'm sure they are very nice people in person. Not to mention the fact that I have seen the sisters play hundreds of matches and conduct dozens of interviews, so I'm basing judgment on more than what they say about...Kim Clijsters.

"Hypocrite's motto #141 - ' I can call people "silly" and "moron", but, oh no, please don't call me "weird" b/c I don't want you to "getting it on personal levels"'

I was referring to how people ACT silly and moronic, with the latter being preceded by an if. I was called weird, as in you ARE weird and not as though you ACT weird. It's insulting, and if it is not removed I will report it to a mod. If anyone is insulted by the way I treated them I would have the decency to edit my post.

And when I complain about spelling and grammar...I'm sorry, but when people get on their high horse and act superior but can't spell simple words, I find it amusing and will point it out.

oliver, honestly, I became a fan of Hingis. Her game swept me up, and her main rivals were the Williams sisters. Because they are her rivals, I have a distaste for them, and tend to dislike their game (as it isn't like Martina's) and their personalities (as they are her rivals). Although, Venus has become very nice, the main reason I dislike them is thier rivalry with my fave. I guess that's why I'm no fan of Capriati either.

Okay, I think we have lost track of the topic and turned this thing personal. In any case, I would just like to know exactly what Nan Cu meant about the way Kim handled herself at the Open, after the incident with Lleyton. Because, to my knowledge, she never said anything and simply went on with matches. I'm simply asking because maybe I missed something last year. Otherwise, it would seem that who are attacking her because you don't like her boyfriend.

She did comment on it... can't 100% remember what she said but if I remember correctly she didn't really anything bad.... she just kinda said that she wasn't there so she didn't see the calls and said that Lleyton wasn't racist and didn't have racist intentions when he said it....

I can see as usual ModernRockStokesSteady alias O000O, that as usual, you are unable to reason intelligently with anyone who does not share your view. You resort to personal attacks and insults. Let's see what you came up with this time:

"As though I hate Venus and Serena? Please, I do not like them at all, which includes their games, personalities, and most of their fans, but hate? No."

I dont need to say more here. Anyone who has been reading your posts will know that i am not exaggerating about how blinded you are with your hatred of Venus and Serena Williams.

"Don't generalize! I was referring to a Williams fan in a chat who clearly disliked everything about Clijsters. So you can't speak for everyone."

Look who is generalizing here. I replied to your post which clearly stated that Williams fans hate Clisjters. So actually you meant a fan of the Williams Sisters not the whole fan base? Good that we cleared that up.

"Hatred "und" bias? I have failed? At what? Learn sentence structure and write back. And miserable? Half the things I say are with a smirk on my face because I know how silly people like you will react."

Oh i see your rantings about how untalented Venus and Serena are were meant as a joke with a smirk? Good to to know that, for one moment i thought you have been finally driven over the edge. About setences and structures... what else is to be expected from you apart from insults?

"I wish I could understand the alien language you write in, but I will guess that was supposed to be sarcasm. Whatever. I ask no one to recognize anything about Clijsters, I just ask them not to call her slow and weak and someone who needs a whipping."

Was it still this one Williams fan calling Kim names or the whole Williams fan base? If you understand my "alien" language, then i guess both of us must have come from space... :wavey:
Hello did you tell mum before coming out?

"Please, you don't even know me so don't start getting on personal levels okay? If you are that moronic to judge someone based solely on what they think about a GAME than you have serious issues you need to deal with. I have heated arguments with tons of people on these boards but am sure that most of them are very nice individuals."

I wont even bother to comment on this, i'd just quote you from another thread okay:

"When a fan of one person calls their rival "boring" their credibility is shot to hell."

Now dont get your panties in a bunch, we just need to take that aspect of credibility. You lost your credibility a long time with your incessant insult and disrespect of Venus and Serena. It wasnt for nothing that you have been banned thrice here. Each time you come back with a different login name and that same hatred keeps unmasking you. We shall see how long the "O000o" login name will last this time...

Look at her choice of a mate. Lleyton is full-throtted, blue-blooded racist. Did you see the way she came to his aid at last year's USO? I was very dissappointed. Her handling of the situation gave me an insight into her psyche. It spoke volumes.

 Whatever.

Kim Clijsters is slow, and weak and needs a horse whipping.

You know, you're entitled to your own opinion and everything, but if your definition of someone who is slow and weak is Kim Clijsters, then I'd hate to see someone you thought of as fast and strong. They'd be a mutant.

She did comment on it... can't 100% remember what she said but if I remember correctly she didn't really anything bad.... she just kinda said that she wasn't there so she didn't see the calls and said that Lleyton wasn't racist and didn't have racist intentions when he said it....

Here's what Kim had to say:

K. CLIJSTERS/H. Nagyova
6-3, 7-5

Q. Do you want to talk about Lleyton a little bit, what happened last night.
KIM CLIJSTERS: Well, I think it's -- we're two different players. It's not because I'm his girlfriend now, I don't have to say much about it. I think he handled it well in the press yesterday. When he came to the room as well, he said he didn't mean it like -- like he's not a racist at all and I'm not at all. We've got friends that are -- that have a different color as well, so we're not racist at all, yeah.

Q. How do you feel about the heat of battle and how much a player should control himself or herself in the heat of battle? Is that important that, you know, you don't get in trouble with anything you say? Are you allowed to let a little steam off?
KIM CLIJSTERS: Well, I think you're allowed to let a little bit steam off. If you're standing on the court -- if you're standing like a plant on the court, that's not gonna be like good -- that's not gonna keep you motivated either. I think what happened with Lleyton yesterday is like -- like what happened as well with the two foot calls that was called was also was -- I don't know if it was an incident. So it's hard to say.
But -- and I know that Lleyton and even I, like I like to get involved in the match and I like to get motivated. Those are things that pump me up. And a lot of players.
I mean, you see a lot of players that say stuff to the umpire and say stuff to themselves to get themselves pumped up, so, yeah. That's how I feel, yeah.

Q. You think he was completely misinterpreted as to what he said?
KIM CLIJSTERS: He even said when he -- he even said, "It wouldn't have mattered if I was playing in Tokyo, I would have wanted that linesman to go off the court." He made me cost those two -- like the break that happened. I wasn't there when it happened because I was having my massage. So it's hard for me to like go into what happened.
But like what he said afterwards was like he even said, "Even if I was playing another American who didn't have a different color, like I would have still wanted the guy to be removed from the court. Because what he did was wrong. I hadn't made a foot fault the whole match."

Q. How can you be certain it was wrong? The guy calling the foot faults? You said it was wrong. How can you be certain?
KIM CLIJSTERS: No, I'm not saying I'm certain. But it's pretty -- I'm not saying -- I'm not going to say anything. But it's pretty funny it only happens on one side of the end and it happens on break point like for a guy to have a break point. I mean, I wasn't there so it's hard for me to say what happened because I left when he was a break down in the second set. I left for my massage. So it's hard for me to say what happened. But, yeah, I mean it's -- yeah, that's why I can't say anything about that.

Now it seems that USAF is not so accurate anymore in bombing Afghanistan and nobody gives a shit I was wondering if they just could include the nearby tadjikistan territory for a while...
