eer what is going on?? why has jen (no.2) been seeded above her and monica(no.4) below her?? have i missed something, if their gonna rank monica beow her then why not jen??

It seems to that their is one rule for monica and a different one for miss bad manners..

Just my opinion........but I think often organizers or whatever treat monica in this fashion because they know she won't say anything about it and create a stink or at least something the media can get their teeth into ..people pretty much know that if players like jen feel they're being treated unfairly ..they won't take it lying down .....thats not to say that jenifer would be bothered if she was seeded 3, but the risk that she might be is enough.

I think it's out off order, i mean monica was ranked below lindsay last weeks when she should have been the no,2 seed and never complained but she's gonna take it worse when she realises that jen cap is being treated better tha her by the officials just becuase she doesn't curse and jen does.

Jul 27th, 2002, 01:52 PM
ohh and i think jen would have been bothered about being seeded no.3 since she would hae been in either venus/lindsays half who would have properly kicked her butt..

Did I not tell you there was no way that Jen would be seeded below Lindsay?

Jennifer is still ranked ahead of Monica at #3.

Has the WTA decided that LD will be seeded behind anyone in the top 3? Fair or not, the WTA should at least make it clear what their standard is.

This is stupid; I think their (WTA's) policy is always to seed Lindsay ahead of Monica. :(

But, in the end, I don't think it matters much. No matter what the seeding, Monica has to play better than this week and win those matches.

I thought Stanford's seeding hoohar was a one off, and the WTA regulation things kick in here? Maybe this is what its gonna be like for Lindsay's 8 special tournaments, and the Stanford one is a one off?

If they stay the same from now on I'll be satisfied.

I'm more concerned whether Monica gets booted out of the top 4 seeds at the US Open if the WTA decides to seed Lindsay ahead of Monica there !

i just hope that Lindsay will be in Jennifer's semifinal and not in Venus's one :p

Monica isn't a whiny bitch like some players

Monica isn't an ass kisser like some players

Therefore the WTA can dick her over. It's happened a lot in her career. I'm sure she's use to it now, that is why she doesn't say anything.

Maybe the tournaments can decide who they choose to seed higher between Jen and Lindsay, since effectively they both are ranked #3.

Monica has to play well enough for the seeding to make a difference.

villa
Jul 27th, 2002, 06:23 PM
volacano i agree with that but it's not as if jen cap has been playing any better than monica recently:rolleyes:

If they had to decide between who would be the #2 seed and the #3 seed, they should have tossed a coin. Whoever gets it, gets in. BUT, put them on the same side of the draw so it would not be a big difference.

But, they didn't take my advice anyway, so... Go Figures!!

They should set up a standard for this, I knew Jen would be seeded ahead of Lindsay. I guess this means Lindsay will get the #4 seed for the US Open.

I think Lindsay deserves it ! I admire her very much as a player. The only problem I have with Lindsay is her ass (too flat behind) ! I think she should put 2 small pilows in her culotte before going on court ! (Just a joke)!

I like her game and that what's matter !

Who tf cares if someone is number 3 or number 4? Tacky on behalf of the WTA IMO, but makes no difference on the draw whatsoever in terms of advantages.

Get back to me when the actually screw Seles over in terms of bumping her down a teir of seeding and then I'll be upset.

But in the mean time, lets all blame Jenn, because it makes us feel better :o

I like Lindsay and I understood she was seeded No.2 in Stanford, but in San Diego too? Well I don't have anything against Lindsay beeing seeding higher than her ranking is, but why is she again seeded higher than Monica? Why didn't they give her No.2 or No.1??? She was ranked No.1 when she got injured. So why she's not seeded No.1?

I hate when WTA is doing things like this to Monica.

Is Lindsay going to be seeded higher at US Open too?

Jul 27th, 2002, 08:08 PM
I don't think Lindsay needs a special ranking, she'll do fine either way. This is just hurting Monica.

Jul 27th, 2002, 08:14 PM
Can anyone tell me does this actually make a difference in the draw? Does it really hurt Monica's chances or not? Seems like it's just a pride issue...

Freefall
Jul 27th, 2002, 08:19 PM
If she is knocked from #4 to #5, YES it can hurt her very much.

Then she will have to play the top 4 a round before she would have with the #4 ranking.

Crazy Canuck
Jul 27th, 2002, 08:21 PM
Right now it hasn't hurt her thoug, so why not save our animosity for if it actually does?

villa
Jul 27th, 2002, 08:22 PM
Becca i know it doesn't make a big difference, what i can't understand is why their are 2 diffierent rules for lindsays seedings concerning moinca and jen, if their gonna rank her above 1 then why not the other and if below 1 then why not both since it won't make a big differece in their draws anyway..it just looks stupid to me

I'm not sure villa - perhaps someone can shed some light.. I know wimbledon has their own way of picking the seeds that does NOT necessarily rely on rankings. Are these smaller tourneys the same? Can the tourney organizers just pick whoever they want regardless of rank? I have a feeling that may be it...

And the reason why this poor excuse of a thread has not been closed?

Jul 27th, 2002, 09:29 PM
Why is everyone complaining?

Monica has the easiest draw of any seed!

Her getting bumped down was a blessing in disguise...she will play the #8 in the QFs (Dementieva), #2 in the semis (Capriati, who she does well against), and avoids Davenport, Clijsters, or Venus until the finals.

A dream draw.

Jen's not playing better than Monica? Maybe you should look at the results, just because Jen lost in the quarters of Wimbledon everyone thinks her and monica are on the same level. Well they aren't Jen is way a head of her.

Its amazing that Jen is getting cussed and all the OLD stories are being pulled out again.

At least Seles is still seeded for the SF. Plus she is in Capriati's half, so hopefully if they both make the SFs, the result will indicate who is 'better'.

And I am glad that Jen will stick up for herself. I think Monica should just voice her opinions on all this too.

Anyways good luck to all three ladies, there is no reason to hate on Jen....

Um, we got back to you last week Becks. Monica got bumped down a tier of seeding last week, and probably will again at the US Open. And no doubt will again if Lindsay suddenly decides to make a late entry into Los Angeles.

And I don't blame Jen. I think Jen is a spoiled bitch, and I think if they tried to seed Lindsay ahead of Jen, she probably cursed them out, threw a fit, and threatened them. And if she did all those things, I would support her for them because she would have been getting screwed. I'm just pissed that they do it to Monica because they can.

It should make sense! There must be at least the appearnace of fairness -- in all sports!

Its possible they're actually trying to get the most accurate possible seedig in terms of who's likeliest to win.

who decides who's likely to win ......and whoever it is why should they...its not about jennifer or even monica its more about fair and unfair, tournaments I believe reserve the right to seed as they see fit ...however their own guidelines state that the rankings will be adhered to for the most part and previous performances at that event may be considered.......correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the last 2 accura classic finals were Venus vs Monica ....following their own guidlines they'd have more justification for seeding monica 2 than seeding her 4

Lindsay's protected ranking is #3, and when the real #3 (Jenn) plays the same tournament as the protected #3, the real gets the higer seeding, it's the rule.

No problem guys (Actually I am a guy not a girl).
It was the same when Monica was co-number 1, along with Steffi Graf, when she played the same tournament as Steffi she was seeded 2.

She can't be ranked ahead of Venus and Serena can she? ;)

lol, but seriously, I don't know... but I think it is up to the officers at the WTA office to decide her protected ranking isn't it?
