Jul 26th, 2002, 03:50 AM
Look at that gap between 4 & 5

Jul 26th, 2002, 03:57 AM
Does anyone know a site, that shows this kind of info every week?

Thanks for the info BTW :)

Jul 26th, 2002, 04:35 AM
However it hasn't been updated for a few weeks.
Usually Jannak is right on things, perhaps he's on vacation.

Jul 26th, 2002, 05:10 AM
you can always ask me...right now im figuring out all the points the top 12 need to defend for the rest of the year...

Jul 26th, 2002, 05:37 AM
Did you subtract the points from last year?

Jul 26th, 2002, 06:42 AM
Yes, they've been subtracted.

Jul 26th, 2002, 07:26 AM
Tenniscorner.net sometimes has updates for the top 25, go to rankings then projected rankings. I am not sure how frequently it is updated.

Jul 26th, 2002, 08:06 AM
OMG, poor Kim

Jul 26th, 2002, 01:55 PM
Could someone tell me what Arantxa's ranking is after this week?

She lost in the QFs at Sopot.

Thanks :)

:D Thanks

Jul 26th, 2002, 04:19 PM
If Monica beats Lisa will that be enough to get her to number 3?

Jul 26th, 2002, 04:40 PM
If Monica beats Lisa, Monica will have 3916 points, which is still behind Jen.

Jul 26th, 2002, 05:15 PM
monica has to get to the final in order for her to become number 3! and if she were to beat Venus on the way, she would get those bonus points, and can try to start and make a cushion at number 3 for herself. but i just don't see her beatin venus, that was a 1 time thing for her. against serena also!

Jul 26th, 2002, 05:18 PM
Yeah, Monica's wins over top players are such flukes...

Jul 26th, 2002, 05:36 PM
Venus said that she hopes to be back to #1 in the Fall. What do she have to do to get back to #1. Thanks!

Jul 26th, 2002, 05:40 PM
finally top50 Anna :D

Jul 26th, 2002, 05:46 PM
I don't think Venus can do much to get back to #1 by the end of the year, unless she puts something in Serena's sports drink before her 1st round USO match :p

Jul 26th, 2002, 06:09 PM
venus' best chance to get number one is the last fed cup week...if you guys didnt know they moved the tour champs a week later so...points will be taken off the week of the tour champs subtracting the 503 points serena won last year, so venus could jump between there and add one week to her weeks at number one...

Jul 26th, 2002, 06:10 PM
For Venus to get to #1 by the end of the year, she needs a few things to happen.

1. Serena needs to "cool down".
2. Venus needs to play more tourneys and make full use of the "best-of-17" rule.
3. Venus needs to beat Serena, plain and simple.

And probably 4. Defend US Open title (or at least reach the final and have Serena bow out early)

How about extending it a bit to include the top 20? (vested interest)

Jul 26th, 2002, 11:05 PM
- Clijster must win title by beating Venus or Seles in the finals to stay #5 anything but that result drops her to number 7.
- Davenport must win the title by beating Clijsters, and Venus in the finals to overtake number 8 ...

Jul 27th, 2002, 12:06 AM
Brian Stewart:

The more I extend the list, the more prone to errors I will be. ;)

But I'll do it just for you. ;)

Jul 27th, 2002, 12:46 AM
Great job on the list! Thanks for extending it :)

Jul 27th, 2002, 12:57 AM
Woah, Chanda's top 20 now! Only a few more steps until she makes the otp 10:)

Jul 27th, 2002, 08:55 AM
Wow, Anna Kremer at 18!
I hope Chanda and Iva make their way into the top 20 soon!
And go Lindsay..make ur way back up...for some reason i suddenly have found as liking to her!

Jelena :D

Jul 27th, 2002, 03:45 PM
hey did chanda have to defend points this week?

Jul 27th, 2002, 06:16 PM
Chanda was defending 68 points for Stanford, but since she did not play, she loses those points.

Jul 29th, 2002, 12:14 AM

Jul 29th, 2002, 12:19 AM
Thanks for the updates.

Jul 29th, 2002, 12:22 AM

Jul 29th, 2002, 12:25 AM
Good LAWD!!!!!

Jul 29th, 2002, 12:29 AM
Yeee - career high for Jelena ;)

Jul 29th, 2002, 01:00 AM
I use two sites to keep up:
http://sportsline.com/u/tennis/wta-rankings.htm and tenniscorner.net

I like sportsline because it tells you how many points are set to come off that week and you can paste the rankings directly into Excel. Then from the tenniscorner site, they list the various points and quality points from each round in a tournament. I then drop the information in the Excel spreadsheet, which takes only a couple of minutes. I could actually keep up without the tenniscorner information, but that becomes too much work. If I had to do much more than cut and paste, I'd never do it. But it's fun especially when I can tell at the start of a tournament that there can be a change in the top 3. The first time I tracked a tournament was the French Open, and I knew at the onset that Jen could drop to third.
