Well i have to say that seles's serve over the years has improved and it has gotten more powerful, but i think she needs a little better placement to beat the top players....voice your opinion......and go monica

A little faster would be nice, she was serving in the 80s at some times against Henin at Wimbledom. And of course, a better 1st serve %

Seles's serve has been one of the most improved facets of her game over the years, probably the biggest improvement. But sure, it can still use improvement.
I think she needs to exploit her "leftiness" a bit more, really work on the swinging serve and a slice serve down the T on the deuce court would be a real advantage as well. The power on her serve is good but is inconsistent - this is often a good strategy to get the returner off rhythm but I think most of the time she doesn't get the power on her serve is mainly because it breaks down sometimes. This is especially evident towards the latter stages of a match.
I think a kick serve in women's tennis is a great asset to have and I think if Monica is willing to work on developing one, it would be so good to have as a second serve. Then again, if she works hard on the slicer, she probably could do without the kicker.

i agree on that her serve should be more of a weapon since she is a lefty.

I agree with you...
The only thing she needs to improve is the ''leftiness"! Because her lefty serve looks like a righty serve. I think that if she can improve that she could be a lot more succesful.

Her serve is fine IMO. She needs to improve only one thing-her fitness. If she ever got there she'd win slams again. Until she does, she won't.

Agree about the 'lefty' comments, though she still does this quite well.
My beef with her serve is its inconsistency. She just can't seem to let if flow on automatic pilot like she used to. It wavers a little too much, and on the days it does, her confidence dips a little (as with anyone). When her first serve percentage is high - even if the speed isn't really high - she's on pretty solid ground, as most players don't seem able to hurt her when returning her first serves.
I know it sounds logical that returning any player's first serve should be more difficult, but the top players these days don't seem to be troubled by most players' first serves. Only Serena, Venus, Jennifer, Monica, and (occasionally) Amelie seem to really cause problems against the very top players when their first serves are going in. Once Lindsay's back to 100%, she's in that group too.
It doesn't seem that the first serves of Clijsters, Henin, and Hantuchova are quite in the same league yet (though they likely will be with a little more time).
All in all, though, I think Monica's serving much better this year than she has in the last couple of years (with the exception of the Henin match at Wimbledon:( )

If seles can improve some of these things she will be back on top of her game.

Compared to back in 90-93 her serve is much better. Back in those days her serve was landing so short in the court. Im not trying to be mean, IMO, her serve wont improve anymore.
