Lucie got the better half of the draw at the 2008 Australian Open. :bounce: She's in the bottom half of the draw.

She faces Catalina Castano in the first round. Her first real challenge will be in the Round of 16, where she could meet Hantuchova.

In the quaterfinals, she could meet Petrova, Szavay, Kuznetsova, Chakvetadze, and Radwanska.

Venus, Mirza, Na Li, Bartoli, Safina, Bondarenko, Srebotnik, and Ivanovic are on the top half of the bottom draw.

Overall, the draw gods were kind to her. On the top half of the draw, there's Sharapova, Serena, Henin, Jankovic, Mauresmo, Vaidisova, and Davenport. Lucie has a good chance to make it to the quaterfinals and defend her points.

GOOOOO LUCIE!! :woohoo: :clap2:

Well this isn't such a bad draw. I don't rate Hantuchova at all so she should win through to the 4th round where she would probably face Chakvetadze. She has a lot of points to defend here so she needs a good showing and it is possible with this draw.

I like this draw a lot. Hantuchova is winnable, as is Chakvetadze, then you never know how Sveta will play. Lucie could lose in the third round or make the semis. I am feeling good about her chances though.

This is probably one of the better draws she could have gotten. Definitely a good chance to defend the quarterfinal points and maybe even sneak into the semis.

Podme Lucie.

I was going to ask about that.

Is there any new information about the injury she sustained last week?

Lucka is still injured and played in pain today. It's GS and she had QF to defend so she at least wanted to try.

She should stop playing for some weeks to heal her groin strain injury ! As long she stays playing, she only will worsen her injury ! I know she loves playing so much but you ALWAYS have to think about your health first. It's been months she plays with a strap at her leg ( right , left ? ). Go back when you are perfectly healty Lucka.

Lucie :scratch::hug:

It seems obvious Lucie needs to really step back and regroup.

Losses are one thing. But her injuries have been chronic, especially for someone so young.

Playing healthy should be her first priority and if it means changing her style of play somewhat so be it!

Maybe she should forget about rankings, take some serious time away from tour, work on her overall game, and then come back.

What a day. Along with Venus, Lucie and Szavay are my favorite players, with Lucie my true blue fave. She and Agnes lost back-to-back on court 13!

The thing with groin injuries (I should know, I currently have one) is that they only hurt once you start playing. It wouldn't hurt when she is just lounging around the hotel or practicing. When she starts putting the physical strain on her body, like in a match, then it starts to really hurt. I am going to go see a doctor very soon about mine to see what I can do. I hope Lucie does the same.

ARGHHHHHHH!!! This really sucks... She needs to really recover. She has a lot of points to defend, and she's already lost a bunch. And against the opponent she had!?!? :( I think Castano had an eight match losing streak... But she can't find a rythym if she continues to get injured. :'(

Oh well... Get better soon Lucie! Why do my favorites always get injuries!?!?

I agree, and it's a real concern. I'm worried about her long term future as she seems to be suffering so many injuries. :(

Yeh I sat a few rows behind her in Berdych's 2nd round match.

You should've told her to find a bf with a brain. ;)

Thomas Berdych played well, he just missed shots at the worse times (ESPECIALLY the second set tiebreaker where he missed the easy low ball and when he tried the dropshot).

Lucie got a haircut... It looks nice.

At Garnier World I believe? Saw her at Berdych's 2nd round match, sat a few rows behind her. She looks very nice I must admit!
