Dechy can be a very difficult round 1 opponent.
Sveta has to be mentally ready for this match, or she will be in trouble.

Jan 11th, 2008, 03:34 PM
Dechy isn't that easy, but I think all in all the draw is okay and she can make it to the quaters at least!

Jan 11th, 2008, 03:48 PM
Well, good luck,Sveta, not the easiest draw she could get and I agree Dechy is a first tricky opponent, but Sveta should win.

Best of luck :bounce:

Jan 11th, 2008, 06:26 PM
Dechy is a tough 1st rounder. Aga could be dangerous. Szavay is there.
Sveta will have to play well every round.

Jan 11th, 2008, 11:50 PM
When Sveta won the 2004 USO, she came out on fire in round 1 and beat Sesil very quickly.
I'd like a quick onesided blowout of Dechy to start.

Jan 12th, 2008, 12:51 PM
The french leads in their head-to-head 3-1 but last time they played was in 2005,long time ago and Sveta's worst year...so it's time to turn that head-to-head around,Sveta

Dechy leads 3-1
2004 GOLD COAST HARD N. DECHY 7-6(5) 6-4
2004 FED CUP FINAL CARPET N. DECHY 3-6 7-6(3) 8-6
2005 ZURICH HARD N. DECHY 6-4 4-6 7-6(3)

Jan 12th, 2008, 01:45 PM
Oh my god! head to head 3-1 in against? Certain is that the parties are of 2005,and Kuznetsova has improved very much,I hope that there is not surprise

Jan 13th, 2008, 11:49 PM
Hey, she's playing doubles w/ Mauresmo! They're such a fun team
(tho' it's always nice seeing Sveta play w/ Nadia as well.)

Jan 14th, 2008, 12:59 PM
Sveta plays her first match Tuesday, on RLA

Jan 14th, 2008, 01:20 PM
Good luck to Sveta - Let's hope she'll have a good AO

Jan 14th, 2008, 01:30 PM
Sveta & Mauresmo :bounce: great! They are my favourite team.Hope they can go far in the draw.

Good luck tomorrow,Sveta  Just do what you have to do :D Vamos!!!

Jan 14th, 2008, 09:27 PM
Good luck Sveta!! Hope you can easily win against Dechy.
Interesting that Sveta plays doubles with Amelie. I was going to ask if she was playing doubles this year, but now I know.

Jan 15th, 2008, 02:46 AM
Sveta won 63 61, she plays Pironkova in round 2

Jan 15th, 2008, 08:44 AM

Jan 15th, 2008, 11:56 AM
Sveta won 63 61
 Vamos!

Jan 15th, 2008, 12:09 PM
Good start to the tournament Sveta :). Yay she's playing dub's with Amelie again :bounce:

Jan 15th, 2008, 03:25 PM
Good convincing win,it seems by the result.Anyone knows if this match has been posted somewhere on the net? I could not watch it.

Beware of Pironkova in round 2,she can be dangerous opponent. But if Sveta plays her good game and the intensity we saw in Sydney she should advance.

Well done, baby :D and good luck for the next match

When does the doubles competition start?

Jan 15th, 2008, 04:57 PM
well I hope there are some videos from the match because I was watching eurosport (recorded it) but there was like only 2 minutes of the match and a little intervieuw about sydney more then this match

Jan 15th, 2008, 05:00 PM
I just found this ;)

Jan 15th, 2008, 05:02 PM
thanks very much watching right now

Jan 15th, 2008, 06:03 PM
It was good to see she had a swift first round match, Dechy is always a tough one! It was so quick I was following live scores at work, when I looked back to check, it was all over! Yey! Go Sveta! I am also so happy to see Sveta and Amelie playing in the doubles together! Yey! :bounce:

Jan 15th, 2008, 06:05 PM
Thanks for the link Veronika!

I'm sure it's been posted somewhere already but here is a link to interviews of players...

Sveta comes across so kind, natural person it's unbelieveable that she doesn't have more fans, but she's got her priorities right, being a nice person comes before tennis, tennis comes before her media profile. It sounds like her English is really improving too!

One match at a time, go Sveta! :yeah: :bounce:

Jan 16th, 2008, 01:21 PM
Sveta :D Good luck vs Pironkova!!

Kuznetsova leads 1-0 vs Pironkova

Jan 16th, 2008, 09:59 PM
Good Luck Sveta!

I went to the AO for the first three days but I didnt see Sveta:sad: so im totally devastated.I got Vodafone Arena tickets and then she was placed on RLA and I couldnt buy and RLA tikets they were supposedly sold out :mad:I spent the three days looking for her on the practice courts and supposedly she came on the morning when I was one hour late because of a stupid train delay  thats usually what happens to me :lol:anyway I did get Serena and Maria's autographs even though I would have swapped them for Sveta's

Jan 17th, 2008, 12:07 AM
Sveta fell behind 25, saved a set point at 35, held at 45, now 55 in the 1st

Jan 17th, 2008, 12:46 AM
Now Sveta is up 76(0) 52.
She has to start her matches sharper. She almost lost the 1st set.

Kuznetsova eases into third round
Thursday, 17 January, 2008
By Tom Kelly

World No.2 Svetlana Kuznetsova has eased through to the third round at Australian Open 2008, defeating Tsvetana Pironkova 7-6 (7-0) 6-2 on Rod Laver Arena.

Twenty-year old Pironkova made an impression here two years ago when she ousted Venus Williams in the first round, but was unable to match her feat against the No.2 seed.

The Bulgarian started strongly, capitalising on the errors flowing freely from Kuznetsova's racquet.

Pironkova twice broke for leads of 3-0 and 4-2, however, she squandered a set point when serving at 5-3, and allowed the Russian back into the set after netting a forehand.

Kuznetsova began to tighten her game, reigning in her unforced errors, and eventually claimed the set in a tie-breaker.

The second set was more of a formality, with Pironkova hitting just two winners after a promising 10 in the first set.

Kuznetsova broke in the sixth game, and again in the eighth to close out the set and the match.

Sveta please win tonight, i think it could be a very tight match hope she wins, please win the dubs also, Amelie needs a serious confidence boost.

Jan 18th, 2008, 02:34 PM
sveta your going great go on good luck against aga

Jan 19th, 2008, 12:37 AM
Sveta lost to Aga 63 64, and she was awful. Missing overheads, hitting bad ue's.
Sveta gave away a match as a #2 seed

Jan 19th, 2008, 12:41 AM
She was clearly feeling unconfortable out there. It was painful see her play this way.

Oh well  Good luck in doubles

Jan 19th, 2008, 12:57 AM
Ah hell. I did not see the match. I think all my favorites
are now out of the singles draw. Wait...is Srebotnik still in???
(I have no idea--been too busy at work to follow tennis the last
few days.)

Jan 19th, 2008, 01:00 AM
well I wasn't able to watch the match.. I was just following the scoreboard.. After Amelie's match was really hoping Sveta would win. I was even hoping she would go to semis even to the final. It was very painful, following the scoreboard.
I saw that they are playing together later today.. I hope they stay strong as in the last match.. I want to see them continue over into the end of next week.

VERONIKA do you have that pic on your avatar in larger version.? If yes could you share. Please!

Jan 19th, 2008, 01:00 AM
Sveta was up 30 in set 2. You could see her giving the match away

Jan 19th, 2008, 01:03 AM
Ah hell. I did not see the match. I think all my favorites
are now out of the singles draw. Wait...is Srebotnik still in???

yeah she is I think

I hope she does well too :)

Jan 19th, 2008, 01:07 AM
Sveta :crying2:

Jan 19th, 2008, 01:08 AM
The assholes in GM are having a good laugh at Sveta's expense at this moment.Fuck them!

At this moment I'm too sad to care about the doubles anymore.I'm still trying to understand what happened to Sveta out there. How is it possible to make such errors, and her body language was not good either.

Jan 19th, 2008, 01:10 AM
there are so many GM assholes

Jan 19th, 2008, 01:59 AM
:sobbing: Sveta

Jan 19th, 2008, 04:26 AM
Looks like the inconsistencies that were so prevalent with Sveta at times during 2007. Just like the Shahar Peer match at Melbourne last year, for example. If Sveta has this burning desire to be world no. 1, and I hope one day she gets there, she cannot afford to have days like today.

Jan 19th, 2008, 02:22 PM
Sveta and Amélie withdrew from doubles competition.

Koryttseva/Perebiynis win the match by WO

Jan 19th, 2008, 02:43 PM
are there any news on why they did that?

Jan 19th, 2008, 02:48 PM
No,Angie,no news so far.I guess they are both very disappointed.

Jan 19th, 2008, 03:02 PM
Yeah I bet they are very disappointed. (I was too).
I would really liked to see them continue playing together. Now I hope they take this time to train.

Jan 19th, 2008, 03:35 PM
Svetlana :sad::sad::sad:

Jan 19th, 2008, 03:35 PM
GM doesn't matter. Sveta is still the same person we love. She had a
bad day. (Those of you who play tennis know how easy it is to have that
happen. Yes yes yes, sure, the #2 shouldn't have those days, but it does

Jan 19th, 2008, 06:31 PM
Nice comment,Mary ;)

Jan 19th, 2008, 06:33 PM
yes mary agree with you but it might be a stupid question but what does GM stand for

Jan 19th, 2008, 06:36 PM
yes mary agree with you but it might be a stupid question but what does GM stand for

The General Messages section on here :)

Jan 19th, 2008, 06:51 PM
and what did they say

Jan 19th, 2008, 07:02 PM
They were bashing Sveta about being a mental midget and being the wrong world no 2 and some people said she could never win a grand slam :fiery:

Jan 19th, 2008, 07:05 PM
oew that is bad. and wrong because she already on one and been in the finals so there they dont have a point. And I think sveta is mental very strong. and nobody can be a wrong no 2 because she has earned every point it is not like she get them from other players. I just disagree And i think many people with me

Jan 19th, 2008, 07:11 PM
yeah thats what most people said:mad:
not everyone though :)

yeah i agree she is the right world no 2 at the moment because she reached the USO final and its completely wrong to write her off after a bad day.

Jan 19th, 2008, 10:01 PM
I'm really confident.. And I trully believe this year will be a great year for her.... She still has 3 other Slams to play. So she still has many chances for greatness this year..

Jan 19th, 2008, 10:37 PM
Absolutely gutted about this loss, especially after her really pushing Justine in the sydney final, i truly thought she could go all the way this year...i dont know shes never really looked that comfortable at AO, never played that well here, which is a shame as i think the change in court surface really suited her game...oh well, im sure she will bounce back just fine from this she just needs to put it behind her now, and comeback stronger...im a little dissapointed they pulled out of the dubs though unless there was an injury, anyone know the reason>?>? it would be sad to see that they didnt carry on just because they both lost in singles, i hoped they could do well in the dubs.

Jan 20th, 2008, 04:26 PM
They were bashing Sveta about being a mental midget and being the wrong world no 2 and some people said she could never win a grand slam :fiery:

Ignore them, they are the same people that will jump on the bandwagon in a huge wave of support when she wins something big again; GM is like wtaworld a tabloid.

I'm pretty upset that she went out so soon this year, I was really hoping she could make it all the way. I can't believe they dropped out of the doubles too..., does anybody know why?

Anyway, the year is still young & I'm sure there are happy days ahead! :bounce:

Jan 20th, 2008, 04:31 PM
I've been trying to find out why they pulled out of the doubles too,but so far I found nothing.I only hope it's not because Sveta is injured. She had something on her thigh the other day.

Jan 26th, 2008, 10:58 AM
Where is Sveta playing next?

Jan 26th, 2008, 11:58 AM

Jan 26th, 2008, 03:17 PM
and doha starts at 18 februari

Jan 26th, 2008, 03:20 PM
I know,it's a long time

Jan 26th, 2008, 05:16 PM
Let her rest. I hope she watches a tape of her loss.
Her tactical decisions could use some improvement

Jan 26th, 2008, 09:37 PM
yeah I miss her playing too:sad: but she knows when its best for her to return to the game.

Jan 27th, 2008, 12:18 PM
Ugh, thats so long till she plays again :(
