6-3 3-1, triple break point, and she went a little :cuckoo: But a win nonetheless. :)

Her play has been unbelievably shoddy since she switched rackets. Obviously, Kata is a tricky veteran. It's not necessarily the score that bothers me (though someone with Ana's power really should wrap this up in straights, even if they are tough straights,) but the choke. Ana has never in her career had problems closing matches until this tournament...

:rolls:
Why winning a match in under an hour if you can play for two? Match practice is all what counts.
Anyway, Ana's dress colour will suit to the courts as Justine will wipe them with her if she keeps this level of concentration up. :o

Kata.

:spit::spit:

Are we talking about the same Ana?

Just from last year.

Set and break ahead against Sveta in Madrid and it went to 7-5 3rd set.
Against Hantuchova she almost blew the 2nd set there after a lead of a break.

She was a set and break ahead against Dulko in Charleston and had MP in that set. It went to 6-4 in the 3rd. She almost wasted a double break there as well.

Against Dechy in Antwerp she served twice for the match in the 2nd set.
It ended in 6-2 in the 3rd.

Well, Ana is definitely the drama queen of 2008 so far! I'm just happy as long as she's winning. I think her career is building very nicely so far.

Now, to take on Justine... :worried:

Well, she will have to play better tomorrow if she wants to have at least a bit of a fight against Justine...

But anyway, congrats on making it to the semis Ana. :yeah:

I really hope she can push Henin!!

I wish she could have won it in straight sets though! oh well not to be!

I'm really looking forward to the Henin-Ivanovic SF. I don't think it will be a blowout as Henin would have only had 1 match as preparation for Ivanovic. I expect Henin to pull it out though, if Ana takes this form into the semis.

I'm not happy b/c Ana again played 3-set match, but before tommorows showdown vs. Justine i want to see only good aspects of this score:

- Ana have 75% 1st serve IN :eek::eek: (with 9 aces). Her average 1st serve percentage in past (with Willson ) is about 50-55.

- Ana won 34th match in the row (since march!) after winning 1st set.

- Ana won 12th 3rd set in the row (since april!) vs. TOP30 players.

If Ana win tommorow 1st set against Justine - 3rd set (Ana will choke in 2nd ) will be spectacular! BTW... after this todays QF win, Ana will be WTA#3 next week if Jankovic not win Sydney title.

Katarina is a dangerous player, so its not really a surprise that she took a set of Ana.

Looking forward to the Ana vs Justine match.

Nothing to be happy about, each victory in 3sets, rather worrying. Hope she'll raise her level vs Justine

Well done! The match could have been easier, but the win is all that matters. Hopefully her confidence will continue to grow as the AO begins.
