the only thing i can take from this match is losing early here has never stopped players doing well at the oz open. though if she plays like that best hope for muller 1st round deffo not davenport.

not that surprised by the result but i thought it would be 3 sets :o

Anna did a great job last year winning a tournament on rebound ace but this is arguably her worse surface and likely Srebotnik's best surface.

Srebotnik is just a better maker of shots with her variety and Anna's movement and footwork is the worse I've ever seen of a player who made the top 5.

It's just a matter of time if she doesn't show some growth that shes out of the top 10.

Congrats Kata. Anna just went thru a traumatic experience..maybe she needed more time to regroup.

Srebotnik doesn't have power but a very nice all court game.

If Chakvetadze doesn't come u with the goods with net passes, Srebotnik can have a field day.

If the set score had been reversed, I might say you were on to something. But losing 6-1 in the 2nd says you got your ass handed to you.

I saw a few games from this match and from what i saw kata was playing very well moving anna right out of position and then finishing it off with great volleys. Anna was getting very annoyed and she had almost no interest by the end of the match.

At least I'd rather Anna lose first round in the week before a Slam than elsewhere. Anna has said before she doesn't really like playing in the week before a grand slam. With AO coming so close to the start of the season you don't really have much choice. She certainly said she was fatigued by the time she reached the QFs at the AO last year, having won Hobart the previous week.

So hopefully she can recharge her batteries, get some practice on the new surface and get a good run in Melbourne.
