SYDNEY R1: K.Srebotnik (SLO) def. (5)A.Chakvetadze (RUS) 7-5 6-1F-R-E-A-K Jan 7th, 2008, 01:53 AM 1st seed OUT in Sydney. :fiery: Anna :o  Sylvester Jan 7th, 2008, 01:54 AM Chakvetadze's game is just too easy to counter, unless she pulls out an amazing performance. NyCPsU Jan 7th, 2008, 01:54 AM what was that anna? :help: schorsch Jan 7th, 2008, 01:54 AM Wow Srebo O_O Lucyxx Jan 7th, 2008, 01:55 AM Nothing but a few points lost. You can tell by serve % Anna was using this to work on her game. Martian Jeza Jan 7th, 2008, 01:55 AM Chaky, what are you doing girl ? You know you can do much better than this then regroup and focuss back on your game ! What an awful start of my fanship with her but yet won't let her down. sammy01 Jan 7th, 2008, 01:55 AM absolute rubbish from anna way to many missed 1st serves too many df's and no fight. dont bring that form to oz open please. there is no excuse for that loss. TheBoiledEgg Jan 7th, 2008, 01:55 AM Anna :( :( what a shocking performance :help: F-R-E-A-K Jan 7th, 2008, 01:56 AM Very bad serving day from Anna. :o Really dissapointing   Wiggly Jan 7th, 2008, 01:56 AM The Russians aren't taking Sydny seriously. Droolv Jan 7th, 2008, 01:57 AM Anna :help:  What happened? ctan88 Jan 7th, 2008, 01:58 AM Her stats aren't very impressive. Off to Melbourne! I hope she doesnt have to face a Davenport in the earlier rounds ... now that would be scary! sammy01 Jan 7th, 2008, 01:58 AM the only thing i can take from this match is losing early here has never stopped players doing well at the oz open. though if she plays like that best hope for muller 1st round deffo not davenport. F-R-E-A-K Jan 7th, 2008, 01:59 AM The Russians always seem to suck in Sydney. oleada Jan 7th, 2008, 02:01 AM Anna :( This is not a match you should have lost. Better shape up for the Oz open. LudwigDvorak Jan 7th, 2008, 02:01 AM Score. I love you, Kata. THIS is what you're capable of, if only you'd believe in it more often. Hope she can beat Bammer and defend her QF points. Grand Phantasm Jan 7th, 2008, 02:03 AM :woohoo: Kata. Great result didn't think you would pull it off. Good luck against Bammer .Andrew. Jan 7th, 2008, 02:04 AM Anna :bolt: :help: Not a good performance at all. But great for Kata! :yeah: Really turned it on after a bad performance against Aravene in Auckland! :D Linnie Jan 7th, 2008, 02:05 AM Kata :yeah: :D ninanina19 Jan 7th, 2008, 02:05 AM I somehow felt that she was going to lose but I bet on her anyway. Poor Chaky. Good win for KS. Oneofakind0490 Jan 7th, 2008, 02:05 AM KATA:worship: God I love this girl. Tennis Fool Jan 7th, 2008, 02:16 AM No pressure. She was only the defending champion  BuTtErFrEnA Jan 7th, 2008, 02:34 AM she wasn't defending champ here...it was hobart... anna :S Cat's Pajamas Jan 7th, 2008, 02:41 AM OMG Anna :help: :o :weirdo: GeT iT toGEther!!!!!!111!!! Too many points to defend to be pulling this crap. SvetaPleaseWin. Jan 7th, 2008, 02:51 AM not that surprised by the result but i thought it would be 3 sets :o Wannabeknowitall Jan 7th, 2008, 02:55 AM Anna did a great job last year winning a tournament on rebound ace but this is arguably her worse surface and likely Srebotnik's best surface. Srebotnik is just a better maker of shots with her variety and Anna's movement and footwork is the worse I've ever seen of a player who made the top 5. It's just a matter of time if she doesn't show some growth that shes out of the top 10. vettipooh Jan 7th, 2008, 03:02 AM Congrats Kata. Anna just went thru a traumatic experience..maybe she needed more time to regroup. mboyle Jan 7th, 2008, 03:06 AM Hmm...I would say "this goes to show that Chakvetadze's game is limited against power players," but she probably has more power than Srebotnik. I don't KNOW what this suggests! partbrit Jan 7th, 2008, 03:08 AM Credit--alwasys--to Srebotnik, but it can't have helped that Chakvetadze was playing with an injured hand. RenaSlam. Jan 7th, 2008, 03:13 AM Not surprised. Anna C. and Kuznetsova in particular will not have the same quality results they had last year. Wannabeknowitall Jan 7th, 2008, 03:18 AM Hmm...I would say "this goes to show that Chakvetadze's game is limited against power players," but she probably has more power than Srebotnik. I don't KNOW what this suggests! It suggest that she's not as smart as people think on the court. Srebotnik doesn't have power but a very nice all court game. If Chakvetadze doesn't come u with the goods with net passes, Srebotnik can have a field day. Volcana Jan 7th, 2008, 03:18 AM Nothing but a few points lost. You can tell by serve % Anna was using this to work on her game.I don't believe that. There's little point in entering a tournament to play ONE match before a slam. If the set score had been reversed, I might say you were on to something. But losing 6-1 in the 2nd says you got your ass handed to you. *Jool* Jan 7th, 2008, 05:55 AM :woohoo: awesome, babe ! :yeah: kolan Jan 7th, 2008, 05:56 AM anna  I still believe she can get the same quality results as last year. You can't judge a season on one match. Go anna...next week  DimaDinosaur Jan 7th, 2008, 05:57 AM Well, her year is off Aerien Jan 7th, 2008, 06:27 AM Okay, NOW the season has officially started for me. Good one Kata. :) darkangel23 Jan 7th, 2008, 06:32 AM Anna :fiery: justine schnyder Jan 7th, 2008, 06:33 AM Well done Kata! :) Bad day for the Russians... Elena, Dinara, Anna and yesterday Nadia... I hope Shahar will beat the last Russian who is still in the draw ;) petkoan Jan 7th, 2008, 06:37 AM yeahh.. I'm happy.. dylan24 Jan 7th, 2008, 06:56 AM chak is going to have a horrible year. that robbery is in her head. SloKid Jan 7th, 2008, 07:22 AM Kata! :woohoo:  Anna  Kim's_fan_4ever Jan 7th, 2008, 08:15 AM Nice Kata :yeah: smit101 Jan 7th, 2008, 08:32 AM I saw a few games from this match and from what i saw kata was playing very well moving anna right out of position and then finishing it off with great volleys. Anna was getting very annoyed and she had almost no interest by the end of the match. Sassy-Na Jan 7th, 2008, 08:35 AM h.k expo curse :help: Jojo_ Jan 7th, 2008, 08:36 AM WOOoooww WEll done KAta !!! :woohoo: Petkorazzi Jan 7th, 2008, 08:40 AM  Thankfully the tier IV points wont affect her rank much, but I hope the pre YEC form isnt back. :scared: dorotek23 Jan 7th, 2008, 08:42 AM Anna :sobbing: wateva Jan 7th, 2008, 08:46 AM bad performance anna... Langers Jan 7th, 2008, 09:58 AM  I bet the tears were flowing! Wah, wah you sooky little girl. Drimal Jan 7th, 2008, 10:02 AM Anna :sobbing: renstar Jan 7th, 2008, 12:12 PM Oh only just saw this thread, was there and watched lot of it live so thought id put in my two cents worth. Srebotnik hitting the ball very very hard and Anna was TOTALLY overpowered. It seemed like she was just fending off the power a lot, no chance to play her game, Srebo was just playing too well. Sorta reminded me of a rampaging Serena taking a Hingis apart or something like that. I was watching it finding it hard to believe Anna is number 6 in the world, hope she can handle the power players at the AO SIN DIOS NI LEY Jan 7th, 2008, 12:23 PM Fucking HK exho Lapin Jan 7th, 2008, 01:21 PM Oh only just saw this thread, was there and watched lot of it live so thought id put in my two cents worth. Well done Kata!! :D esdee! :wavey: améliemomo Jan 7th, 2008, 01:22 PM whats going on for Chakvetadze? Srebotnik lost to Aravane Rezai 1-6 3-6 last week in Auckland, didnt expect that score for a supposed top10 player:tape: .:sk:. Jan 7th, 2008, 02:21 PM Anna :help: Kata :yeah: esdee Jan 7th, 2008, 04:15 PM Kata! :bounce::yeah: Keep it going Lapin:wavey:! gmak Jan 7th, 2008, 05:35 PM kata :yeah: :woohoo: good win! :) Wintermute Jan 7th, 2008, 07:15 PM Anna  At least I'd rather Anna lose first round in the week before a Slam than elsewhere. Anna has said before she doesn't really like playing in the week before a grand slam. With AO coming so close to the start of the season you don't really have much choice. She certainly said she was fatigued by the time she reached the QFs at the AO last year, having won Hobart the previous week. So hopefully she can recharge her batteries, get some practice on the new surface and get a good run in Melbourne. jonny84 Jan 7th, 2008, 07:22 PM Great win for Katarina today! Well done! | |
