It wasn't a tournament, it was just a Pre-qualifying for 25K.

yep they tested her with lots of different drugs (weed, smack herion, lsd) and she could correctly identify what she was getting high on. she got extra marks for being able to tell coke from flour just by looking.:tape::help::o:rolleyes:;)

joking aside well done sesil, there was a lot of prssure on. i'll be interested to see how she does in the qualies.

forgot to add she played against nobodies
1st opponent never played an ITF match
2nd opponent 8-14 record in 2 years of playing ITF
3rd opponent never played a match

So, I wouldn't try to stick it back to haters

I'll take it back. The last opponent played a few 10 k's, but 2000 is the year she stopped.

Yes, we understand they were nobodies but the point is everyone was outraged that she wasn't being given a WC.

The whole point Sesil fans are trying to make is that she more than deserves a WC because she can beat most of these girls, regardless of her ranking. And now she is in a draw and now she is going to compete and most likely do fairly well.

But who are these players?

Definitely nothing to be proud of.

In The Zone
Jan 6th, 2008, 11:11 PM
Not proud. But it just proves that Sesil is deserving to get WCs and be in tournaments when she clearly can compete with them. She was shunned from Tampa Bay for no reason.

she may deserve it, but she is not entitled as USTA has the right to use discretion especially when it comes to someone who is coming off a DOPING ban.
Good for Sesil though for taking it the right way and willing to start from scratch...

Wildcards are subjective. She'll have to work her way up the hard way just like this for a while.

"Shunned"? My ass.

When you're awarded it, and then have it taken away, that's kind of like shunning.

Shunning, I agree, is too harsh of a word.

What would be better to describe it? Unlucky?

Here's a better description: I wrote in another thread that the WTA/USTA establishments will gang up on Sesil. People disagreed with me but it turns out that I was right.

The big guys in the establishment must have wished that Sesil would just disappear from the surface of the Earth. When Sesil refused to go away quietly, they used their influence to force the tournament director not to give Sesil a WC, even though the tournament director wanted to. They said the WC should go to a young upcoming American, but then it was awarded to a Dutch player. Doesn't that tell us something?

what? only that you are good at making up the stories. unless of course you are Sesil herself or her entourage or the tournament director.

I'm personally glad she didn't get that QWC. But I'm also pleased that she has gotten to the qualifying stage anyway by her efforts. Good for her being prepared to play in a lowly event to win a qualifying spot for a 25K ITF event. When she gets to the top 100 she will have done it on her own without any assistance and that's the way it should be.

Yes, Sesil! :woohoo:
Not that they were tough matches, but playing for the first time in two years, with more than usual pressure someone in an ITF would get, you're bound to be pretty nervy.

Prove those bastards in Tampa Bay wrong. :hearts:

Tuna, why do you write a thread title like this? First of all it is WRONG. She did not win a tournament. Why put incorrect information in a thread title. You can edit it, you know?

Second, why take that tone? People who want her to move up on her own are not necessrily haters. Just plain unnecessary. Just because people here are so nasty doesn't mean you have to be so. :o

You know Sesil may have played three people nobody has heard before (although I know Paige and she plays a lot of USTA events in California) it's not like she creamed them all 6-0, 6-0.
But Sesil seems willing to do it the hard way and frankly I gotta giver her props.
