Jelena Dokic should have been given it and lets face it Jelena has more chance of making a few rounds than Sophie will ever

Jelena has had ONE good tournament, beating one of the worst players in the top 100, if not THE worst, and another top 100 player who is in a serious slump and the board goes crazy over her?! Typical WTAWorld.

Don't hate on Jelena Dokic just because in the last week, she achieved more than Sophie did in her entire career!

Well Jelena should of gotten the WC over Soph, I just hope she plays AO qualies still but I don't want it to jepodize her run of form going into Hobart

Typical 'Loose' hating on Dokic. While I agree with you that Jelena's wins are nothing to write home about in terms of quality of opposition, one can still make a strong argument that she deserves an AO WC over Sophie Ferguson.

And Ferguson got laid out by a player that's not even in the top 100.

part 1- she beat 2 top 100 players easily, i wouldn't go crazy if they were 3 set wins, but they were straight set wins. soo i'm even more excited about her comeback.
part 2-i agree.

Couldn´t agree more, Jelena truly deserved that wild card, maybe because of what she said in that article, about prefering playing qualifying matches to get more matches, could have affected the organizers decision, but we will never know...

yea, but she qualified for Hobart, so if she does well in main draw, she can't play qualies for AO or she'll be tired.

To be fair, Sophie's end of year ranking has gotten better EVERY single year. She won her first two challenger titles last year and also reached a couple of challenger finals.

That being said, this is likely going to be the last year she'll get a handout. She's been TA's darling for five years in a row and it's time she start making inroads on the tour.

People only "deserve" wildcards in very special circumstances.

Maybe Sophie doesn't deserve one... BUT.. what makes Dokic deserve one? Where has she been the last year?
She has made a few half arsed attempts at a comeback the last few years, she has fucked the Australian tennis federation around... Her ranking is so low, because she let it get there, why does she deserve one??????
