I'm talking about the match between Anna K. vs Wynne P.
Anna is my #1 fave at this moment, and she really needed the win to gain her way to be back as a top player. but on the other hand i really wanted for Wynne to win aswell! i am the type of person who will support my country. but this is a tough one to choose?

if you are in a condition like this, which player you will root for??

thanks

I usually start watching the match and root for whoever is losing.

Rebecca, that's what I do too! I guess if Aus played Belgium in Fed Cup I'd have to go Aus though.

You better support Wynne, for sure! She needs more point to upgrade her rankings than Kournikova's.
But okay... if Wynne or Angie meets Monica one day, I'll cheer for Monica. Hmm... maybe it will happen in this week. Hopefully!!!

Well, my personal choice between Wynne and Anna K would be Wynne. But I'm not from Indonesia so this doesn't appeal to me. But still, yesterday, Kim had to play agains Meilen and I like them both a lot. I wanted Kim to win a bit more, but I wouldn't be mad if Meilen had won it :)

I agree with 2Ace2, I will cheer more on Wynne than Anna. But I wouldn't sad if Anna win the match.

Both are my favourite players (ahead of any other players), but I like Wynne more, because she is representing my country :)

I support my no.1 fave every time, im not the kind of person who roots for players just because they happen to live in the same country.

I cheer for players that I like. Perhaps they have a particular shot that intrigues me or maybe they are brilliant but vulnerable. I have never rooted for a player simply because we are from the same country. That seems so simple minded and one dimensional to me.

I think it's easier for Americans and others, who have a lot of top players in their country, to root for their faves and not for players from the same country. Because here in Belgium, we only have Kim and Justine. And I think if there are so few of them in your country that you're going to support them more.

I agree with 2ace2.
Here in Israel we only have Anna Smashnova, and I think I'll support her if she played against my fave. Not only bacause she is from my country, but also because she works hard and plays well. (Anna did actyally play against my fave, Clijsters, this year, and won 7-5 in the 3rd set , I think).

If Wynne is not playing for the purpose of liberating your country, then root for Anna.

I've never had this problem because Kim is my favourite player and she's belgian as well

It has to be your #1 fave, otherwise the expression "#1 fave" loses its meaning. Besides, your countrywoman didn't just pop up; she was there all along and yet didn't top your faves' list.

Nonetheless, I do understand the dilemma. I was faced with it about a month ago when Venus had to play Maureen Drake (Canadian). But, with no sweat, I went for Venus.

Mostly I root for Americans. But I like Justine and Kim.

If it's Justine vs Serena, I don't root for a winner. I root for bopth of them to go the running game, pulling the opponent farther and farther out of court. I've just never seen tennis players running that far that fast on BOTH sides of the court. AMAZING tennis.

well if they are your #1 fave, that usually means you want them to beat everyone and anyone they play :)

I often start watching a match and starts to root whoever is losing too, when a player is leading, they hit the ball more comfortably and confidently, oppositely, a player who is down, they usually hit the ball more carefully and doubtfully, but it can't help, i think they know either, they need our help, so i root for them and shout their name in front of my big TV :)

I am in quite a good position right now. I can root for my number #1 favorite and my country's number 1 at the same time.

Go Serena.
