Looks like a tough draw, Peer first up probably then maybe Na Li who is a form player at the moment. But good luck Sveta, I hope you can play with confidence and set yourself up nicely ahead of AO and the rest of the season.

This will be a diffcult match for Sveta. We all know Peer can cause Sveta some troubles (remember last year AO),so she'll have to be ready for a fight.I wouldn't like her to be out since the first match.

Yes, I remember Sveta v Peer in Melbourne last year, I was there. Many in the crowd were cheering for the underdog, who won... and it seemed to be only me cheering for Sveta. Also last year, Sveta failed to win a match in Sydney, so we have to hope and pray for better this time. GO SVETA!!

Nicole served very well so Sveta will have to be focused returning serves
Jankovic tried to go corner to corner too much. Nicole moves okay, don't go for perfect shots.
Make her move, but keep your shots in play. Jankovic missed lines about 20 times.
Play inside the lines

I don´t know, what i should think about Sveta´s accomplishment today. Was it caculation, stragedy, policy? Or is she maybe out of form? Seems to be tired a bit? What is sure is that she cannot win tomorrow with this modest engagement. I had to grin a little bit about the notice of the Eurosport commentator: he wondered, why she perspired so much though she had done nothing. Wish her so much luck and power against Justine. :smash:

Sveta played a smart match. She didn't try to hit perfect winners, but when she hit a good shot that made Nicole run, she came into net behind it.

That's the strategy against every tall girl. Make them move and then you come to net, forcing them to hit a passing shot on the run.

Well Sveta lost, but not a bad way to begin her season with a finals appearance in sydney :D she came close, but she just needs to convert the big points when it comes to the crunch against players like Justine.

I guess Sveta played pretty smart in the first set. However, as usual, and credit to Justine, the experience of the world no. 1 showed through. I've seen it before, against various players: if Justine loses the first set she is able to adjust her strategies and pull things around.
But it was a good week for Sveta. Some early-season form which she can build upon. I do hope she goes a long way in Melbourne - who knows, maybe even the title?
