The way Alicia played today Serena in 2 easy sets. If Alicia played like she did against Lucie it could be closer, however I still think Serena will win - I'm hoping Alicia puts up a fight just like their Wimby match :drool:

I'm torn. As much as I would love to see Alicia win, being Australian myself, I think Serena will win in 2. I'm not sure what happened to Alicia today, but she was definitely not as good as when she played Lucie. Hopefully she can sort herself out and bring her A game when she plays Serena. I'd love to see a great battle between these 2.

I picked alicia but simply hoping. Serena will probably win in 2 but i hope alicia can get atleast a set.

They had a good match at Wimbledon. I think Serena will pull it off.

I picked Alicia being biased and all haha! But I can hope.

If she plays at all like she did today she basically has no hope.

But anything can happen, Williams could have a shocker, Molik could come out firing. You never know, I just hope Alicia can turn around her form from today and produce some quality Tennis!

if alicia plays like she did today then it will be embrassing, if she plays to the level she is meant to then she could give serena a challenge.

Serena is about 2 steps faster than she was at Wimbeldon after watching her match against Lucie...she's also serving even better...at Wimbeldon, Alicia's slice stays down alot lower which gave Serena soe trouble but this is a different surface...Rena in 2.

hehe 2nd round, Alicia should have won the first set, using slices on backhand was troubling Serena but then Alicia starting hitting topspsin and thats when Serena took advantage

molik was really impressive for short periods in her last match against Mirza. If she can play like that all match it could get close. So i.e. if she plays out of her mind she could pull off the upset.

Serena is on. Serving well, moving great, setting up her strokeplay and making few UEs. IMO she is in probably her best ever early-year form. That should worry the rest of the women!

Alicia is making way many UEs and not choosing her shots that well, still a few sprays. I think she's playing a bit better than her last match, but Serena's light years ahead of Mirza.

losing most long rallies and one horrible mishit (or just $hit) volley she should have killed when Serena wrongfooted at baseline

Alicia playing much better this set. Serena has appluaded her shots twice this set :D

To stop herself falling asleep, Serena decides to serve/volley to level at 2/2 bringing a big smile to her face after an effective stretch volley.

Molik plays well for 3/2 after Serena saves game point to level at 40/40

In other match, Mirza had treatment for lower back injury after losing first set to Safarova.

Molik has picked it up some, Serena is def a bit emotionally tame.....its like she feels like she doesnt need to run very fast or do too much to win, but she is executing pretty well overall and looks very fit (should she feel like really running lol)

Serena challenged on serve for a moment at 0/30 with Molik's best returns of the day.

But pulls back with four straight points. 3/3

Molik again serves well 4/3

Serena fairly easy hold 4/4 inc twice coming into the net and one good winning rally from Molik

That second set was MUCH better from Alicia! I hope she continues that kind of tennis in the coming weeks, even though there is still a bit she could work on, she was more aggressive. Sucked it ended like that though.
