Lina is playing LA and then she is hoping for a wild card of some type into the U.S. Open. She is also entered in the Bronx $50K Challenger event, right before the Open. (Aug 12)

After the Open, she will head to Tokyo (the week of September 16)_ and then to Europe

Good luck Lina on her way back from injury. :)

i hope its a full and fast way back to where she was before it happened.

it will be very hard to Lina to get a US Open WC...lets wait and see what those folks do at the USTA.

I cant wait to see which American girls get WC's this year.

She is also entered in the Bronx $50K Challenger event, right before the Open. (Aug 12)

And that means that she doesn't think that her hopes of getting any kind of WC for USO are any high. AFAIR, that Challenger is also a pre-qualifying tournament for USO. So she makes sure that she has a chance for USO anyway.

Hell, and that means that now I am probably going to attend Bronx Challenger..:)

Go ys go! Bring Lina good luck! :D Jus tlike I did when I saw Maria Sharapova play WTT. Oops! Maria lost 5-0 to Katarina Srebotnik!

Eggy, it's going to take Lina many months to regain her form! :(

I hope Lina is willing to take it one step at a time.

Since Lina's terrible ankle injury was caused by that horrible sticky rebound ace court in Australia, why didn't she receive an injury ranking?

Lina won't get a WC from USTA. I doubt they will even give a WC to Maria Sharapova. And she deserves it! :)

Lina has got an injury rank (about 38)

won't they give Lina a wild card into the US Open since she is one of the players on that top 20 list or is that just for tour events and not slams?

TheBoiledEgg

they could but the WTA Tour is independent from the slams but that would be taken into consideration.

Even a qual WC would be gladly welcomed.

cat ....... there's a big difference between Maria who is a 15 yr upstart and Lina who's 18 and was one of the Gold Exempt players for 2002.

Welcome back Lina! Here's hoping she gets in to the US Open. (Ted Robinson loves her name.) Let's see the wounded all return to form soon.

BTW, wasn't there something about Nadia in the last injury report?

What does that injury rank actually mean, Eggy? Will it come into play?

They will give her a WC i reckon, either because of injury rank or common sense!!

Please keep us posted with Nadia news, i like both those girls, so sad for them to have been out for so long!

TheBoiledEgg

of course it will come into play, thats the whole point of the injury rank
thats how she is playing LA, Tokyo

she has 8 tourns to use her IR in.
help a little but its not the same as playing at your actual rank of 38 when you'd get seeded if high enough

Nadia ...... she should have been back this week
