Good decision in my eyes :D R1 against Aniko Kapros who's slumpug big time lately but she can be dangerous as she was in R4 in Paris once.

Dec 10th, 2007, 10:12 AM
Good luck Masha. :)

A couple of positive quotes from her:

"I am here to win," Kirilenko promised.

"I treat this tournament as any other competition on the tour, and each time I step out on court I want to win," she added.

"I have been practising very hard for the past three weeks.

"I take all tournaments seriously and I want to win this one too," Kirilenko smiled.

"I am in good shape at the moment and I hope I can go all the way here," she added.

Cirstea, Olaru and Muller all withdrew. Reckon playing Masha scared the pants off them :)

Dec 11th, 2007, 08:25 PM
Maria won 6-3 6-4 :D But she'll play dangerous German Sabine Lisicki now.

Dec 12th, 2007, 12:00 AM

Dubai R2:
Kirilenko(1) d. Lisicki 6-3 6-3 :)
A poster in the Thread said that she didn't outclass Sabine at all but Sabine is pretty talented

In QF she'll play fellow Russian Ekaterina Bychkova who seems to be in good form good luck Maria :D

I`m very pleased to see Makiri is off to a good start in Dubai. :) Hopefully these matches will give her some positive momentium heading into the new year. I really hope that she can keep it going and win the title.

Dec 13th, 2007, 12:46 AM
It's great news to hear Makiri's won her first two round matches in Dubai.:) I just don't understand why some people questioned her decision to enter this tourney. You have to remember that Makiri suffered 4 consecutive 1st round losses towards the end of the season. Nobody wants to end the year on a sour note like that. Like Rod the Bama said, hopefully she can have something positive to build on heading towards the 2008 Aussie Open.:yeah: Good luck Makiri in your next match! The title is yours for the taking!:D

Dec 13th, 2007, 12:51 AM
Ekat is a tough customer. Maria needs to be ready.

Dec 13th, 2007, 02:38 PM
Maria beat Bychkova easily according to a poster in the Challenger Thread but her next opponent is Marina Erakovic who seems to be in great form.

Dec 13th, 2007, 02:53 PM

Maria well done! :woohoo:

I wanted Maria to play smaller tournaments and she exceeded my expectations. I wonder why she chose to play chellenger. Did they give her a big appearance fee? Good luck Maria, but if you don't win here it would be very embarassing!

This tourney is exactly what the doctor ordered for Makiri. It will be beneficial for Makiri's psyche. She's getting that winning attitude back that was evident in San Diego, L.A., Kolkata and Japan. She and her coach probably discussed this after her horrible slump she sufferred towards the end of the season. Yes, she was probably offered a nice appearance fee, but she also was given the #1 seed as well! Wouldn't that motivate you to enter??? I don't think Makiri has ever been seeded so high in a tourney before in her career. She's also trying to position herself to a better seeding for the Aussie Open as well. Whether she wins it all or not, I'm going to proud of what she accomplishes here.

There was pressure on Maria to win this ITF title and she did. :) Now she finishes 2007 on a good note and heads into 2008 in seemingly good form. And I hope playing this ITF tournament means Makiri will be playing some smaller events in 2008 so she can rack up some easy wins against inferior competition to help build her confidence and win total.

Dec 17th, 2007, 03:55 PM
well done maria :D

Dec 17th, 2007, 09:27 PM
Congrats Makiri on a very satisfying win!:bigclap: A nice way to closeout the 2007 season. You got that winning attitude back, your spirits are up, your confident now with your game, and you got momentum rolling in the right direction towards the 2008 Aussie Open!:) Well done Makiri!:yeah:

Dec 18th, 2007, 01:32 PM
