View Full Version : Who would win a boxing contest......

Suppose, 128 of the world's ranked wta players were entered into a knockout boxing contest similar to that of a grand slam draw, who do you think would most likely make it to the final and who would win?

I pick Amelie Mauresmo vs Serena Williams with Serena winning in the end. But then again, never judge a book by its cover coz one might just see Justine Henin and Anna Smashnova in the final.

jhehhehehehe:( :( :(  :p :p

Another all Williams final, with Venus winning, because she floats like a Butterfly and Stings like a Bee. Serena may have a heavier hand, but Venus would tag her and then dance her way out of trouble on her back feet, don't get me started on V's long reach either.:)

Justine and Anna would get their asses spanked, I like them but they would have to go into the light weight division to make it fair. Afterall who wants to pay 500.00 dollars to see someone get the hell beat out of them in the first 60 seconds of the fight? LOL :)

Well as long as a Williams kicks ass I am okay with it. But I still like Venus's reach, and footwork.:) Besides all she has to do is AIM for the CHEST. and it's OVA'.:)

A matchup between Mauresmo and Hingis wil be interesting. Of course Mauresmo would win, all Amelie has to do is aim for that MOUTH! screaming....." now you know I'm half a man!"

If she wasn't such a nice girl, I think Elena Dementieva would do very well in a boxing match against any of the other girls. But she's too much of a nice, lovely girl (luckily).
In the boxing ring you'd need to be physically good and also a real fighter, and the first person that springs to mind is Lennox Lewis, but the 2nd person who springs to mind is Jelena Dokic. She's the best fighter on the WTA Tour.

Martina has a spectacular defense mechanism...her grill looks like it could break a couple of knuckles upon impact!!!

Jennifer is definitely a contender...she is such a street momma...you see the way she struts on court?! She's walks sometimes like she has a package!

Serena...I wouldn't mess mess with those biceps! When she gets intense and turns into wild thing...you will get STOMPED. I would like to see such pre-match entertainment, like Serena using Queen Lindsays head like a puching bag!

Venus is too delicate and elegant....she will be cheering Serena from the sidelines.

Cliijsters has a chance if it was wrestling becasue she could bust some heads if she could get them in a thigh lock.

Mauresmo looks more like a lover than a fighter...

Tulyaganova looks very intimidating..if she walked up with those huge breasts and knee braces...her opponents would run.

Kournikova could be the card carrier between rounds...there is no way she'd put her face at risk! Too many people would love to give her a fat lip! Ask Patty Schnyder!!

Stevenson could win on mouth alone! Her mother is frightening enough!

LMAO at this thread.

Now that I've recovered, I say it would be Serena vs. Jennifer in the final with Serena winning by decision. However, had Tauziat still been active, then she'd be the champ. She looks so mean and full of rage.

ROTF at the Hingis "defense mechanism". Too funny.

I think Lindsay will stand a very good chance too. I mean, you don't wanna mess with a tall and powerfully built chic. Plus, she's now slimmer and fitter than ever which wll really help her in the ring.

Martina Hingis will use her mental toughness to outwit her opponent.

LOL @ Junkartist! :p And Dawn Marie is so funny, too!

In the end, Serena Williams would defeat Anna kournikova for the title! Serena would win because she is amazing! Anna would make the finals because of her long nails to scratch her opponents with, and her high heels to kick her opponents with! ;)

Hmmm, most likely Serena or Jennifer would win, although with Venus' long reach ya never know. Can anyone think of what would happen to Amanda Coetzer?!?!?! Her and Smashie would be pummeled.

VenusSerena
Jul 23rd, 2002, 03:21 PM
well in boxing it is all about the reach, who would have the better effect against a player. Also it is who is stronger. Everyone says that Jennifer is soooo strong, and that she would take out Serena. Sorry but when you look at them, Serena is taller and WAY stronger than cappy. But the winner out of this whole clan would be Venus. Her reach is the longest on the tour. Serena, Jennifer, anybody, would not be able to get in and hit her, they would have to go for the body, and it is easy to get out of the way of body shots. Along with her power and reach, this would be the easiest decision a ref would have to make. Venus Williams the champ.

VenusSerena
Jul 23rd, 2002, 03:53 PM
ziggy- she may be lady like to enter, but they are talking about, if you had them all in a boxing match who would win. You are entitled to your opinion, i respect that, but please I feel it makes you look stupid when you anwer like that instead of who you think would win. If they post were to read, "do you think Venus should enter a boxing match, and who would win" there you can post your message, but this thread is for your opinoin on who you think would win. All im saying is, there are so many people who claim that this bored is a hate board, and there are "too many hate threads" which I don't think make sense, but really all it is, is people coming in making comments and state ments that don't go with the topic.

Venus may look softy and smooth, but she's a wild beast when she's angry. Ever seen her angry? Watch tapes of her in matches (1997-1999), the way she altercates with the umpires, you feel she could just pounce on them. Remember the 'falling bead incident' when she argued like a warrior princess with a %$#@ umpire during her 1999 QF match against Lindsay Davenport at the Australian Open. I was worried for the umpire, I thought he'd be jumped at.

Boxing is about footwork. A boxer with a quick and elegant footwork usualy wins. I think Venus has a got an excellent footwork, she'll be just too hard to match.

You'all Venus Williams would kick ass, she has great footwork and speed. She'll just defend those shots to the body, and then with her long arms, and amazing footspeed, she'll tag them in return with a quick shot to the eye.

junkartist, are you saying Hingis would bite somebody's ear off? lol:)

Omg can you imagine Panova vrs. Serena? I'll give that a 30 second bout. Hmm this makes me wanna see WTA players in a CELEBRITY boxing match. I would love to see Irina vrs Tauziat, or Anna vrs. Martina Hingis. Wait a second Anna and Martina wouldn't that be a rematch? :)

Quarter Finals

Jennifer Capriati v Venus Williams

Venus gets some quick jabs in but then Jen closes with some hefty bodyblows. Venus strikes back but injures her wrist.

Winner Jennifer.

Serena Williams v Monica Seles.

Due to the high decibel count, neither contender can hear the referee or the bell. Monica tries to get in a harsh one. two combination, but Serena blocks, belting Monica with four angry uppercuts.

Serena wins by KO

Elena Bovina v Mary Pierce

Mary starts off well with a flurry of heavy left right combinations. Elena is reeling into the ropes. Then Mary stops to adjust her costume, which is too tight! Elena launches a haymaker from the ropes that knocks Mary on her assets. mary gets up, dazed, whist asking for her eyedrops, Elena hits her again, and drops her.

Elena by TKO.

Daniela Hantuchova v Elena Dementieva

Daniela gets in the first few quick jabs, dancing round the ring in her extremely brief costume. The referee seems distracted. But Elena hits a couple of big forehands, and suddenly Dani is reeling! Elena squares up for the finisher, an evil smile on her face. She launches a killer punch to the head - and misses by inches! She goes for exactly the same punch. A double miss!
Suddenly Daniela comes back with long series of combos. Elena reels. She's given a standing count! It's all over.

Daniela wins on points.

Cat, I beg to differ, I think this time Anna would kick Hingis's butt. All she would have to do is run in and jab her in the hip, leg or foot. BUT, when Hingis get's over her injuries, it will back to work as usual. I can see Hingis now, " Do you want to TRY to jab me first or shall I just break you?":):)

from an article pulled out of Google:

Mauresmo Wallops Muggers
French tennis pro Amelie Mauresmo decked three muggers on the Caribbean island of Guadeloupe in early December.

"I was terrified but I didn't let it show," Mauresmo told London's The Mirror. "I screamed at them to go away but they surrounded us and moved in. One pulled out a knife, so I used my elbows to knock two of them to the ground, then punched the third one as hard as I could in the face. One of them managed to tear a gold chain from my neck which upset me because it was a present from someone I am very fond of." The attackers then fled.
