Tuesday, February 17: Elena Dementieva was presented with a chocolate cake on court after beating Sybille Bammer. It was her 500th career singles match win, making her the 27th woman in the Open Era ever to cross that milestone.

Not sure if she has that many in the Open Era, but she has 96 titles in the Open Era so surely she has 500+ wins:p

Ai now on 490 after Wimbledon. Really hope she can get to 500. The next active player on the list is Tanasugarn on 450, followed by Serena on 431.

According to the 2009 Official Guide to Professional Tennis list (page 251) there were 26 people who won at least 500 matches in their singles career up to the end of 2008. Smith Court is at 15 and Casals is at No. 22 (look at last list on this thread). Smith Court actually won 620 matches during the open era (and at least 1180 matches in total), while Goolagong won 825 matches between 1968-1985 (and at least 834 matches in total).

Well,according to WTA Tanasugarn has 461 wins,Clijsters is now at 447,de Los Rios at 439,Petrova 428,Garbin has 414 for now but don't think she will end up in 500 club...

Sabatini is still very high on the list 15 years after retirement - she retired at 26yrs 5months too - did she retire at the youngest age of all the 500+ women?
