They are no longer sponsors of the Manhatten Beach tournament? Does anyone know what happened?

I see JP Morgan Chase is sponsoring that event now. Is this like the first time since the Chase Championships that a big US Investment Bank if sponsoring a womens' tennis tournament?

I loved the Manhatten Beach tournament website which was part of the overall estyle.com website. It wasn't very practical but it looked nice :)

Well I checked the website and it's still there, but as babystyle.com

Anyway. Isn't the dot com bust over, I thought some were doing well again.

Here's an article:

JPMorgan Chase Open
JPMorgan Chase is the title sponsor of the JPMorgan Chase Open, a WTA Tour professional women's tennis event to be held August 4-11, 2002 at the beautiful Manhattan Country Club in Southern California.

The JPMorgan Chase Open is an attractive event to the top players in the world because of its spectacular location near the Pacific Ocean and its proximity to the start of the US Open. Both the JPMorgan Chase Open and the US Open are held on the same hardcourt surface.

Two-time defending Australian Open champion Jennifer Capriati headlines the star-studded field for 2002, which also includes Lindsay Davenport and Monica Seles, both former number one players in the world. Past champions at this event read like a "who's who" in women's tennis, including Chris Evert, Martina Navratilova, Steffi Graf and Serena Williams.

The JPMorgan Chase Open will be televised to more than 10 countries around the world and will have a universal audience of more than 300 million.

I guess they will make better sponsors anyway

Before 'estyle' it was the 'Acura Classic' for many years. Acura now sponsors the tournament the week before (next week) in San Diego. Sponsors come and go.
