Who's better right now? Seles, Lindsay is likely still rusty and Jen is in a funk

Who's likeliest to win a tournament this summer? Lindsay, she loves these tournies

Which one is going furthest at the US Open? Toss-up, any of the three could easily make finals, even against each other. I imagine the hard court season gives us a better insight.

Who'll end 2003 ranked highest? Seles, better performance at US Open and playing the tour champs will help her ranking.

Actually I think it will be interesting to see just who will do well between those 3. I personally feel it will be Monica, becuase Lindsay may be rusty and Monica is a dangerous opponent if one is slightly off. Monica usually comes out smoking when she gets about 3 weeks off. So this will not bode well for Capriati.

Go Seles beat them all except Venus and Serena!! lol

Seles is playing the best tennis at this point.
Jennifer does appear to be in a "funk".
Lindsay will have her say next week.

Seles for all questions :)

Having not seen Linsday or Monica for a while, I would have to say Jenn. Based on Monica's Wimby performance -- her fitness is still lacking (too slow to get to the ball with her two-fisted shots). True, Jennifer has been a slump of sorts -- but I think Lindsay is the one to watch. She has beaten Monica and Jenn the last few times. As for the US Open -- we have to see how Davenport is seeded...

I say Monica for most questions but i see Lindsay more likely to win a tourny.

1) Monica

Jen seems to be in a slump, she is having great results, but not the kind of results you expect from her. On the same note, I won't be surprised if she is playing really well during the hardcourt season! Go Jen! :)

2) Monica and maybe Jen

3) Jen

4) Lindsay

Capriati - she got further than Monica in both of the last 2 tournmments ever though she's apparently in a "funk" Lindsay is too rusty.

Jen for all questions

You can't say who's better right now without seeing Lindsay so this thread is totally pointless.

I guess we won't know until we see Lindsay play so I would have to say Jennifer.

I agree with TenniSTUD...how the hell can anyone answer this question until a few weeks down the road when Lindsay has some actual match play under her belt.
Personally, I hope she comes back BIG!

Veryborednow,

Jen went farther than Monica at Wimbledon???? Did I watch the wrong Wimbledon again!!! The one I watched, they both made the quarters.

Y'all know good and well that Monica is playing the best of them all. Monica will also finish the year ranked ahead of them all. Maybe even #2, if Venus doesn't play in the fall as scheduled. She does peak during the summer and the hardcourts will do her ground game justice for a change.

These three all have question marks.

Lindsay hasn't playd all year.

Monica has a very poor clay court season (for her) on what was arguably her best surface.

Jenn almost doesn't seem to care if it isn't a GS. She's just so talented she's usually in the semis anyway.

They all know how to prepare to win a GS title.

 Were you not the "author" of this thread?? And, if so, knowing what you know, why did you start the thread???

At any rate, I too, feel it's too early in the season to predict who'll do what. But, given Jenns previous form, and Lindsays' injury, I'd bet you a "fat man" Monica does better and is ranked higher at the end of the year.!! So, how you like them 'taters???

Probably lindsay, i don't know what form she will be in when she comes back, but she is a better player than monica and jen and would the fave if healthy going into a match.

She can't have that much rust on her. She's been playing ten years. It isn't going to take Lindsay long at all. What is her endurance and did she improve her speed by taking off weight or by training? I'm betting on a fast breakthrough for Lindsay.

Lindsay is the best among the 3 right now... she'll show it soon enough... :)

Jen and Monica currently playing @ much the same level. Their last match went to a 3rd set tiebread and both reached the same round at Wimbly. Lindsay is a "?" Though I expect her to comeback pretty strong.

Hard to say what will happen this summer or at the U.S. Open. Too many variables i.e. seedings and draws.

Lindsay has a ton of points to defend this summer. I don't think she can make up the deficit to move up. Monica is defending quite a few too, except that she's only got 100 at the U.S. Open and didn't play year-end Munich (of course), so she can score some big time points at the Staples Center. Jenn's defending 400 USO and Monica is breathing down her neck.

My heart says Monica climbs to #3...and that'll be the best of the group. I'll go with that. :)

earthcrystal... I think we're not talking in terms of ranking here, or else Lindsay wouldn't even be in the question... ;)

We're talking about performance here... :)

It's so hard to say having not seen any of them play at all.

If Lindsay has worked a lot of the rust off I think she has the best shot of winning a tournament this summer. Though I would not count out Monica or Jennifer.

Who's the best right now? I can't answer that at all since the HC season hasn't started. We haven't seen any of the three play yet.

Furthest at the open? My head is telling me it's going to be Lindsay, but my heart is hoping it will be Monica.

As for the ranking I think it's a toss up between Monica and Jennifer. Lindsay has a lot to defend in the fall. Monica can rack some points at the USO and Jennifer could at some tournaments.

Jen and Monica are not at the same level. If you're gonna talk about their match in Miami, which Jen won, you also have to talk about the french Open where Jen got farther. So Jen is above monica.

ktwtennis
Jul 22nd, 2002, 01:09 AM
Jenn is NOT above Monica R. DIS. It's your biased opinion that Monica isn't above Jenn. If Monica being better than Jenn is such a ridiculous thought, then why does Monica hold a 9-5 H2H and ALWAYS keep it competitive even when she loses??? IMO, Jenn had an easier draw than Monica at the French and we both know they reached the Wimby quarters and both should have won...

Monica is the better player now!!

Monica has the best chance at a title!!

Jen will go the furthest at the Open!!

Monica will end the year the highest!!

I don't give Lindsay a Chance at any because:
1- Rusty
2- Has WAY TOO MANY POINTS TO DEFEND!!

Volcana is there a reason why you added Lindsay to this post when she has barely started back on tour?

Come on and cut her some slack would you. Wait til after the summer to ask that question.
