Right now it is confirmed Venus is playing:
Brasil Open
Tour Championships
Might be Playing:
Ladies Kremlin Cup
Porsche Tennis Grand Prix
(She has participated in these events previously)

Serena is committed to playing:
Swisscom Challenge
Generali Ladies Linz (Not Venus)
Tour Championships
Maybe the Toyota Princess Cup, I think she won that before...
so that means that a lot of players in the top ten are in trouble because thats where they got most of their points...davenport, dokic, clijsters, and maybe seles.. remeber the sisters didn't play post us open tourneys except serena in the tour championships so look out...its going to be very interesting...

Also, Monica only played little tier three and four tournies, with the exception of the Brasil Open, which means that she ALSO can rack up those points!!! Venus, though, will be a threat to Monica defending her Brasil title!

its impossible for monica to defend the title in shanghai, im sure she'll want at least a weeks break that means no Princess Cup, so she she wont play in filderstadt, thats for sure, wont play in Zurich unless she plans on not defending her title in Tokyo...but she could finally play the tour championships...

Venus has 3 zeros to plug (only 14 tournies) if you figure one will be the tour Championship then there are at least two more. If Brasil is one then probably will only play one more.

Swisscom is also a Tier I. I think those are the only two after the Open, not including the Championsips.

If Venus is to play Brasil Open, she will be on the courts for four weeks in a row; that is, Pilot Pen (1 week), US Open (2 weeks), then a quick trip to Bahia, Brazil, for another week after the high of Flushing Meadow.
If past experience is any guide, I doubt it will happen. However, I do hope she goes down there and delights the Samba crowd.

Venus is supposed to play Ladie's Kremlin Cup in Moscow. I think it's a Tier I. She has committed to Brasil as well. And the championships.

Serena also confirmed her participation at the Sparkassen Cup in Leipzig. They just announced that in German newspapers. I think that she is also doing Swisscom and Linz. Of course, she'll be defending at the Championships.

Is either venus or serena gonna play the princess cup and filderstadt??Cuz if they are then all the defending champs are all in deep trouble

Translated from a german news article.

20 years, three Grand of Slam victories, NR. 1 of the world. Serena Williams Wimbledon Champion debut at Sparkasse Cup Leipzig, 10 July 2002 (mm).

Serena Williams makes its promise true. After the American had to call their start off at short notice with last year savings banks the Cup because of the terrorist attacks in the USA, Williams starts international ladies now for the first time with the tennis Grand Prix 2002 in Leipzig. After their triumph with the Grand Slam in Wimbledon five days ago estimated themselves the Lobeshymnen for the 20-year old Top star from Palm Beach Gardens (Florida).

She is the best tennis player, who has the strongest will and the best power in ladies tennis, said ex professional Chris Evert. It is now the absolute measure of all things, expressed tennis legend Martina Navratilova. With their triumph on the heavenly lawns of Wimbledon arrives Serena Williams the top of the world rank list, it did not only provide also for new balances of power in the most famous tennis family of the world. As in key Biscayne 2002, Serena defeated Venus Williams who is two years older sister in the London final game.

Such a victory is marvelous, in addition, also little sadness, because a Williams had to lose, meant Serena Williams connected after their altogether third Grand Slam title of its still recent career (US open 1999, French open 2002, Wimbledon 2002). The fifteen WTA Title Holder is now considered a hot candidate to be able to complete a grand slam win as first Tennis Player after Steffi.Graf (Golden Slam. Siegerin 1988), at least one of each of the four Grand Slams. A triumph in Melbourne is inevitable.

Serena Williams officially went professional in September 1995 on the WTA route, for three years has ended under the Top six of the world rank list. Now stands well ahead of all her opponents to stay on top. Serena Williams comes also in September still as current world rank #1 to Sparkasse Cup. In Leipzig the tennis superstar will have further reason for celebrating, because on 26 September, thus on tournament Thursday, Serena Williams becomes 21 years old.

Wow I did not know Venus had planned to play in Brazil. But then she loves to travel and see new places, and Brazil is a beautiful place.

I think Venus will play less after the USO than Serena. She stated last year that she wanted to go back to school. Plus I don't think she'll play the Championships. She's only been once.

I'm just glad Serena is playing more, so she can stay #1. But if Venus wants it back, I wouldn't mind :)
