Thank god!! I was really worried about her when she won several matches in a row. Now it's all good again. Keep it up Alex. :)

Doesn't the second retirement actually indicate that the first one was genuine? She was probably ill-advised to try again so soon, but presumably this indicates how much she WANTS to play now that she is back in some sort of form for the first time in ages.

This is why people who retire from a match in qualifying should not be eligible to play as a lucky loser  Alex may very well be injured, that's not really the point. Let people who actually intend to finish matches get the LL spots.

Doesn't the second retirement actually indicate that the first one was genuine?

The second retirement proves that once she got broken at 2-1 and Kops-Jones held serve at 3-1, she didn't want to bother to finish the match, because she knew it was over.

this rule used to be in place but dont know why its no longer used
that if a player retired in final rd of Q, then they couldnt get in as a LL

Really selfish of Alex. She wasted a lucky loser spot that could have gone onto someone who actually WANTED to play, only to retire?

I think she should give up on her career anyway, she obviously don't give a crap so god knows why she's still playing!

Well, first off..congrats to Raquel Kops- Jones on a solid year on the ITF and for making all of the qualifying draws in the slams :worship: . This college educated girl is going places. I expect her to break into the top 100 sometime over the next year in singles and top 50 in doubles. Actually, if Raquel can find the right partner i think she could do some real high level damage in doubles.
Alex...its disrespectful to the tournament directors, specatators, her opponents and most off all herself for continously puting this image out there of herself. If i ever have the chance with speaking with Samantha i swear i will tell the bitch off. I'm sorry, i usually try to refrain from speaking this way about players ( and there moms ) , but there is just NO EXUSE for this. I think Lucky Loser pretty much somes up the whole sad situation. :tape: ...:wavey:
