WTF? What happened to Mauresmo? I realize she has a lack of motivation, but a 6-1 loss to Bondarenko (followed by other disappointing losses in the last few weeks) is really bizarre. Get it together for AO!

RIP 2007, as another Momosapien said.

I doubt Mauresmo will even be in top20, at the end of the season.

Anyhow, comeback strong in 2008, Amélie :
now you have plenty of time to rest and to also work on your game.

Mauresmo should have called it a season after losing at Wimbledon this year. These recent losses are embarassing for a 2 time Grand Slam champion.

Mauresmo's always had trouble getting back to her old form after injuries/layoffs. But I've never seen her struggle for this long!

Momo was the best player for so long to not have won a slam. Then she wins 2, has she fulfilled her career goals?

I know there's injuries but she's really not been in it this year. I hope she'll come back in 2008, there should be so much more left in her.

The positive note is that the year is finished (sad year but she'll end it top20 despite surgery so it's not that terrible).Even the diamonds's racket can't save her season tough and I hope she can regain her level and motivation next year.

Oct 17th, 2007, 06:45 PM
I thought she was turning it around in February when she won the diamond racket after a pretty horrible start. Then the appendix stopped her and her results afterwards were dreadful especially at Wimbledon where she has been great the last 5 times she played there. Work hard and enjoy the offseason. Once she sorts out her head she can sort out her tennis.

Let's not get overly dramatic - she still has what it takes to win Slams she just lost her mojo - understandable seeing as she's been a fantasticly consistant performer every year since she burst onto the scene in 1999. Everybody gets worn out and I think that's what happened to her. A little break until January and the fire in her belly will be back.

I agree with you - I think Amélie's main problem right now is in her head too. Personally I think it began with her loss at Wimbledon to Vaidisova, (or maybe earlier, ie. appendicitis, and the subsequent losses, culminating with the loss to Vaidisova).

She needs to get her confidence back somehow....

Even with the confidence issues and lack of matches, this result is pretty dire for Momo:o Bondarenko is a steady player, but 6-1 final set tells me how low Mauresmo's level is atm.

We can only hope for better things in 08:shrug:

I think Momo is content with the two slams and has become complacent, her longwished for desire was fulfilled and thats the reason for 'no motivation'.
