When Serena clinched the YEC, I thought she might tank. And in any case, I don't know why a Sunday finalist doesn't then get a Wednesday start in a draw of 32.

I'll be amazed if she was scared of Serena's hair. Come on Patty doesn't brush her hair she keeps it natural, to be honest I like it

Who isn't afraid of Patty? You have to be at least wary of a person who has full head of cockroaches..

LOL of course shes afraid wasnt Patty in a cult at one time?????

she didnt want to be fined for not showing up to the tourney so she retired in her first match I think she wanted to go and see if she could play her way into the tourney then she realized she wasnt able to truly compete and she couldn't win so she wanted to get off the court before she really hurt herself

So I guess she was pressured to enter to help the tour meet its Gold Exempt obligation to Octagon, and just wanted out ASAP.

Serena probably is scared of anyone with a tennis game. She needs to go home with her coaches and formulate a plan on what is wrong. Once a plan is determined execute it. Embarassing herself on a tennis court is probably the last thing she wants to do.

If she was scared of someone it was Rainer. ;)
Seriously, she just played like shit. Barely moving and not able to keep the ball in play. All Patty had to do was return it back. Serena apparently doesn't have a stamina to last longer than two consecutive weeks.

Which is basically a case of fraud involving the Tour and the owners of especially the Tier I's (and to some extent Tier II's) especially late in the season. Funny, in a match involving the Strange Suissie, there was (morally speaking) Criminal Conduct, and Hoffy wasn't even involved in it.

basicly, Serena Williams gifted Schnyder a bye in a Tier 1 event

arent you the poster who said that after Serena loss to Dementieva in Moscow, it means she's going to come to Zurich with "fire in her eyes" and "Krush the Kriminally Kontrolled Krazy Player"

:haha:

:haha:
Yeah, except I say the Criminally Controlled Crazy Player. ;) Which has a double meaning here, as a post-Soviet Russian won Moscow, which I thought would make the RU @ least want to take out her frustration from losing that title on the CCCP. Which is the Cyrillic spelling for the USSR (Union of Soviet Socialist Republics) aka the Soviet Union.

In fact given that the WTA site notes that this is the first (non-Slam) ever to have the Top 4 (strange in that who skips Miami?) my premise about the Tour meeting the Gold Exempt obligation is clearly wrong (especially as its only a 28 draw). It sux that Serena took a spot someone else could have had, as she's in the YEC already and clearly wasn't ready to play.

Plus this isn't in the US, where Serena has some special appeal. And Zurich isn't one of those "Appearance Fee Opens", so this is all rather a mystery.

Serena is not affaid of anybody How many Grand slams does Patty have? I just think she takes her lightly if it starts to matter to Serena she will train for her come out big and crush her like she did Sharapova.
