Very good point. It would very well be that she quit knowing if she didn't she was heading for a double bagel. Lets face it. A lot of players play several matches in a row.

Even at the club level we sometimes have to play 2 or even 3 matches in a day if you're lucky enough to get to the finals.

As long as Serena continues to surround herself with "yes men" she will never get back into form.

I guess she was tired in Moscow too?! She had a ton of unforced errors there too.

I think she needs a better plan next year on how to first get as consistently healthy as possible. Then, an approach on how often to play for her year overall so that she doesn't get too tired, but still plays enough not to be rusty and hit error after error.

At the moment, Serena is not playing like the great dominate champ of old, and its understandable since she's still on a(nother) comeback from injury and not match tough either. Three weeks is not really enough to get back in the groove.

I don't count the US Open, as Serena was clearly not at her best there, and I feel she only played because she refused to miss a GS in her home country.

Ohwell, a free ranking point. She's qualified for the YEC anyway...dunno why she played.

The fact that she played shows that she is really eager to get to the YEC, otherwise she wouldn't have played IMO...
