I don't think the last match is a good indicator, cause she played so well in porsche open, it will really depend on their day.

It's time for Tati to win vs. Ana in Zurich. I expect three close sets if Tati plays in her Stuttgart form. Tati will win 4-6 7-6 6-4

Tati is in great shape and playing her best tennis right now. After USO she have fantastic 13-2 record (lose only against two best 2007 players) - but i didin't expect that so far Ana will reach only 35% votes at this poll    :tape: .

GOLOVIN RESULTS AFTER USO:

R32 H2H OSTERLOH, LILIA USA 79 W 6-1 1-6 6-1
R16 H2H KNAPP, KARIN ITA 53 W 6-4 6-3
Q H2H (0) TU, MEILEN USA 47 W 6-2 6-3
S H2H (8) DUSHEVINA, VERA RUS 46 W 7-6(5) 6-2
F H2H (4) SREBOTNIK, KATARINA SLO 24 W 2-6 6-4 6-4
R32 H2H (W) CIRSTEA, SORANA MIHAELA ROU 111 W 6-3 6-1
R16 H2H SCHIAVONE, FRANCESCA ITA 25 W 6-3 6-1
Q H2H (2) IVANOVIC, ANA SRB 6 L 6-1 6-2
R32 H2H (W) MULLER, MARTINA GER 50 W 6-1 6-1
R16 H2H (4) CHAKVETADZE, ANNA RUS 6 W 7-6(3) 6-1
Q H2H (Q) BONDARENKO, KATERYNA UKR 46 W 6-3 6-4
S H2H (2) KUZNETSOVA, SVETLANA RUS 2 W 6-2 6-4
F H2H (1) HENIN, JUSTINE BEL 1 L 2-6 6-2 6-1

Golovin best weapon (by far) is her FH - but Ana have better... her 6-1 h2h against Tati is  and also her best friend at tour is MaKiri and she want to revange her yesterday loss against Tatiana.

On paper, Ana should win, the surface advantages her & you know the H2H...

I would say Ana in three, but please Tati .... Actualy Ana have advantages at all surfaces  .

It's not that obvious on clay.

The hell it isn't. Golovin hates clay, has played on it less than Ivanovic, and has weaker career clay results regardless of their personal H2H.

Tati hasn't be healthy on clay since 2005 and she wasn't very confident on red clay at that time.
Tati is an excellent player on slow surfaces, she has more times to choose her shots, Amelia Island and Stuttgart just show it.
If Tati has a chance to beat Ana, it would be more on clay that on fast surfaces in my opinion.

And Tati doesn't hate clay for God's sake! :o

I'm not sure this time (I was very scared in Luxembourg :help: ).
It just depends on how Ana starts.
If she starts well, it will be 7-1.

It's the home tournament for Ana, it's her last tournament as a teenager and she lost already in the 2nd round in Stuttgart.
Enough reasons to win this :) (and also cause I want to)

AJDE ANA!!!!!

Well i think everyone should know that if Ivanovic is on her game Golovin has little chance unless she brings her later round Stuttgart form and maintains it the whole match.

It could be any kind of scoreline because if Ivanovic is off she's a mess and an in form Golovin indoors could tear her to pieces. Ana could do the same to Tatiana though if it's all working.

I hope Golovin wins because i'd like her to lock up a top 16 seed for the Australian Open.

What happen with this poll... after 30 votes Ana have about 35% and now after 50 votes about 55%

Anyway... after Serena's crash Svetluckyana Keasydrawtsova again have open draw before SF if Elena D. is too much tired after Moscow, so chances for Ana #2 spot at end year is again not good :fiery: , even if she :smash: Sveta in SF...

bullsh!t. Tati just keeps on getting injured on clay. You think she hates clay yet she won her first title on clay.... She just keeps on getting injured. Blimey.. You're such a hater.

It was hardly the match of her life. I'd say she played the best clay match of her life against venus - venus won 5 games. The least amount of games shes won in a match all year.

I feel that the two are closer in ability than people say. Its just that Ana has decided to show off her ability more often than tati and has been luckier with less injuries. Tati is powerful enough not to get overpowered yet smart enough not to hit 50 errors and lose the match like that. Sure, Ivanovic has a bigger serve and forehand (bigger, not better) but it can also be a weakness as well as a strength when its off and tati's tennis brain and speeed more than make up for it.

What you actualy try to proof??? That Ana Ivanovic which at clay already played slam final and won tier-I is not better claycourt player than Golovin only because they have so far h2h 1-1 on that surface???? Of course that Ana so far is much better player at clay than Tati...

Luckier with less injuries? Strange way of thinking I would say.
Ana isn't injury free for a year either.

H2H says of course not anything, but 6-1 is big.
The first time they played, Tati was ranked 29 and Ana 156.
What has Tati done in these 3 years? She's 18th now.
Ana has a grandslam final and is number 4 of the world. That's a big difference to me.
And in ability it looks close? Ana can (and will be) a lot better than she's now.

That 1st ever match they played, I still have that on my computer. On Tati's macthpoint she hit a forehand down the line i think it was and Ana didn't get to it but it was called out. On the replay though it was shown the ball caught the line and the commentators were saying Tati had been cheated.

Tati has been injured for 2 years on clay, so it's quite normal that she is behind Ana in terms of results. Still, if you know her game & foot work, you know that she has everything to be a good clay courter. Concerning her best results, she made Charleston 2005 SF, beating Venus Williams & Nadia Petrova to lose against Hénin 76 75 + Amelia Island title.

Tatiana is the most underranked player on tour! Those injuries really slowed down her progression. The only thing that is true is that she has been very poor in Grand Slams, nobody can deny it. Still, Tati who missed 3 months of play (including 2 Tier I + one GS + another one where she couldn't be prepared), is now 18th with 3 finals and 5 top 10 victories this year.
Ana has more experience for sure and is ATM a more accomplished player, but the gap is not that close.
Oh ... your last argument is completely pointless, it's not as if Ana were the only player capable of improvements :tape: .

talk about similar games. Big Serve. Big forehand. Ivanovic has more experience, better mover from side to side so i think it'll carry her in a straight set victory. it might be close though.

What a hilarious post! It is so funny reading people explaining why their beloved favorite sucks. Golovin sucks on red clay. She is very good on green clay. Period. Those two surfaces play VERY differently and that is the reason for the difference in results. Golovin doesn't have heavy enough strokes to do well on red clay. Green clay allows her to play fast. Red clay doesn't. She will continue to be great on green clay, but I will be mightily surprised if she will ever do anything worth raising my eyebrows on red clay.

1. Golovin, 2. Henin, 3. Ivanovic, 4. Jankovic, 5. Kuznetsova...
