View Full Version : Is Serena jealous of Justine?

I know it has been a common topic of debate recently to try and explain Serena's bad attitude. She really doesn't seem very happy on the court anymore. For a top player this seems hard to understand.

I can only offer one explanation. Serena dominated the game in 2003-4 and was undoubtedly the best in the World. It is perfectly clear now that she won't retain that status, that Justine is top dog and Serena had better deal with it. For all her bluster, Serena knows that Justine is no.1 and deserves to be. She can't handle the fact that she's lost the crown and will never get it back (barring injury).

i am sure she is unhappy at her own form
justine is pretty much irrelevant to her even after those losses because she is not only losing to justine but to elena and svetlana also

True for most of it :) Surely now all Justine haters and Serena lovers will call this bullshit but I dont care. It's just the most logic explanation for the situation esp her us open post match interview... still justine must be jealous of Serena's Wimbledon title...

Several corrections:

First of all Serena dominated 2002/3, she didn't even win a slam in 2004.

Secondly, it is not perfectly clear that Serena will never get the mantle of best player back. Moreover it is foolish of you, in my opinion, to make a prediction with such blind conviction.

Also, would you (or anyone who says so)please someone define what they mean by "bad" attitude? It's a vague and subjective term to say the least, and it seems like many people are using it at cross purposes.

Also, I think Serena is frustrated on court right now, but to say she is not happy is a big leap. Once again I think you have presumed too much.

Serena beating Henin down match points in Miami was more of a FLUKE if any of those matches.

Serena clearly would have beaten Henin at Wimbledon if healthy though. Serena just got her butt kicked plain and simple at the French and US Open. Serena is not jealous of Henin though.

Serena fans are in denial if they don't think that Justine is in Serena's head. At this point, what Serena did to Maria is like what Justine is doing to Serena. Can any Serena fan honestly stand up and say that they're not scared to death from now on when Serena's playing Justine? The truth is, can Serena even take a set from Justine from now on out?

if u did it was irrelevant..... so prolly you got bagged on for it.....

Serena wouldnt be happy with her performance even if Justine was 200 in the world because she doesn't go out there thinking about how good the next player is she only focuses on her game either way she shouldnt be happy with herself and she should be mad this isn't the serena that people admired back in 02-04? shes like a slower less accurate version of herself and it should piss her off enough to make her work hard no matter who she loses to

lucky

justine was always gonna win the french. Serena shouldnt have even played USO but she did anyway. Obviously justine deserves the win but even now, i dont think serena is 100%. She needed time to get back to her top playing level after Wimby. I mean even though she wasnt in prime shape at AO, she'd given herself enough time to get into top playing level and even though her critics said she didnt care about them; she did everything at her own pace and thats what's best for her. After Charleston, where she was just starting to shed the weight but then got injured, i felt like she was rushing to play tournaments. Almost being pressured by the press. I still think she could have taken more time out and kept getting her condition up to prime. Who knows, if she had, she might not have gotten the cramps in the hantuchova match and so wouldnt have sprained her thumb. I think that after YEC, serena's gotta do what she did last year, dont rush. Make sure shes ready physically and mentally for AO.

Jealous is a big word...she knows that Justine is the biggest challenge out there for her right now and it must be paining her to know that she just ain't ready for the challenge yet. This is much like all those losses to capriati back in the days, all those losses in QF's of majors...she needs to work on gettin over the hump.

I suppose whether or not Serena can actually beat Justine is not really the issue. It's the fact that Serena is convinced that Justine is better than her (as hard as she tries to deny it to herself) and it is making her angry because she doesn't believe she can do anything about it.

Erm I can?

If Elena beats Serena again this week will she be in Serena's head? It's not like Serena is getting to the finals of every tournament she plays and losing only to Justine, she's getting beaten by several top players at the moment. Kuzzy beat Serena in a MORE dominating performance than Justine, Elena's two breadsticks in a match that she WON are just as emphatic, if not more so, than any of Justine's wins over Serena. It's not denial, it's called reasoning, logic, and common sense. When you're in somebody's head you don't enter two tournaments knowing there's a good chance you could have to play them after only perhaps two matches.

Seriously people need to think about this more. If Serena truly is such an arrogant self obsessed person, as many on here claim, would it really be in her nature to be obssessed by somone else? You can't have it both ways. In my mind the two pictures being built up are incompatible.

To me, it seems like Serena is really happy with her life as a whole, she has more money than she knows what to do with, she has a loving family, a charming boyfriend, success that 99.9% of the 6 billion people on this planet can only dream of. If people think Serena is the jealous type, I don't think they really understand her at all.

It's the fact that Serena is convinced that Justine is better than her (as hard as she tries to deny it to herself) and it is making her angry because she doesn't believe she can do anything about it.which is exactly the case, Justine is in her head, she has lost total confidence when playing Justine, even at the US Open, her pre-match interview, she looked scared, and was not the Serena we know, she was not confident in her answers. Serena feels violated by Justine and mouthing the word "bitch" is definitely directed toward Justine. I'm sure some of you have experienced this before including myself. When I play a match and I always feel like I'm the best one out there and all of a sudden someone comes along and ruins my parade continuously and I can't do anything about it, I get scared, frustrated, jealous, and I would call that person a bitch, it's a normal human thing to do, and Serena is a human being herself.

She said "I let her take advantage of me and I feel violated"

It's all about Serena ;)

P.s. She also mouthed "bitch" at Venus once during the AO Final they played. Guess she's jealous of big sis too. That Serena such a small, petty person. :bounce:

the stupid thing about this thread is the starter thinks that the reason serena gets pissed off with herself and looks mad when shes losing is because of jealousy of justine. So let me as you this; before justine was even a top 200 player, serena was getting pissed off with herself day in/ day out. Do you think serena had some premonition or went into the future and saw justine there beating her at USO? :o

It's a great city is it not? :D

As I said, I think you're presuming too much. In many ways Serena is still a big kid. I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing, nor is the Peter Pan syndrome uncommon. That said I do feel Serena has matured in so many ways, and is a wonderful young woman.

Getting back the crux of the matter, I don't think miserable is the right word to describe Serena on court. Disgruntled, frustrated, at times angry, tetchy, worked-up, are all more fitting imo. And I don't see any difference in the press conferences she's giving now to the one's she was giving in 1999; so I'm not sure how that fit's in with your theory

I am an ardent Justine fan but I don't see Serena as being jealous of Justine nor does she have any reason to be. Both, plus Venus, are and should be proud and happy about their own accomplishments to date.

Serena and Venus had proven that they can beat Justine in the past. Now, Justine knows she can also beat the WS on the big stage multiple times in a row.

However, having said that, I am sure Serena wants to beat Justine more than any other player on earth. And the feeling is probably mutual. That to me is not jealousy. Being competitors that they are, this is only natural.

At the end of the day, they will miss each other if one of them is to retire. Being fans of either or both or neither, why don't we just enjoy the brand of tennis that each of them bring to the court.

Dick won primarily because some silly little AP America vote twist. Basically, there was a player in the house that America controlled and since America loved Dick, Dick was the beneficiary of it by *****. So, America never went against them thus almost making it impossible for him to be evicted especially with dwindling numbers. He did have some clutch comp wins and we can't blame America for that but to make a long story short that's a big factor why he won. America.

 Awww, but you have to give it to the two of them. Yeah, the twist got Dick out of one precarious position, but the other two, both Dick and Dani won comps to get them both off the block. The AP was only 1 vote. One vote really couldn't save Dick. The rest of the house was at fault too.

Gosh Godiva is so disgusting. i don't understand why people pay money to eat that shit. If you pay careful attention it isn't really that much better than a bar of hershey's yet they charge you so much for it. My roommate used to work for Godiva and he would bring back chocolate covered strawberries every night after eating so many you come to realize how gross the chocolate actually is.

But Serena, I know wants to beat Justine really bad and I think in the Us Open she was trying too hard(I hate to say this but yes!! Serena was injured)so she couldn't do much against Justine, who was very aggressive.

I work in Times Sq in NY and around the corner from my office is a stand that puts their almond snickers bar in their cooler along with the canned sodas and bottled water. And everyday after work, I'm right there with my 85 cents in hand. It was so great during the summer when it was soo hot and I have to walk on the streets with hordes of tourists. I'm probably gonna cut back now that it's getting colder, but boy did those shits make my summer great.

Favorite chocolate? Hmmmmm...As long as they aren't too bitter or fruity, I'll most likely eat it. But not too much. I don't really like solids. I love the Giradellhi (sp) caramel bars. I can eat them all day. Or anything with nuts. Hazelnuts, pistaschio, etc.

Actually I probably did go overboard with the Godiva. I had 2 roommates who worked there. And they would always bring the strawberries home because that's the only thing that couldn't stay overnight. After a while I stopped eating the chocolates altogether and just ate the fruit.

Truer words could not have been said. :bounce:

Can any Serena fan honestly stand up and say that they're not scared to death from now on when Serena's playing Justine? The truth is, can Serena even take a set from Justine from now on out?

TSequoia01

I don't think Serena is jealous of Justine, in fact she respects her game. What probably is unnerving about the current situation is, Serena has always believed that if she plays well any and everyone is going down. Justine's consistency is calling that premise into question. Serena's current best just is not good enough. So whats a girl to do? Serena is currently trying to up her game and realizes that actually playing is the only way to get in match shape.

justine was always gonna win the french.

Anyone beg her to be that fat? Anyone ask her to make a bunch of errors like this?
You can't blame anyone, you can't blame Serena, so now you blame the press?
Don't blame others when it's all your own fault.
Also, people don't come to listen to you telling them that you're not ready or you're not in best shape.
If you are a professional, you should always be ready when you get on the court.
Whining is not the right way.

Jealous is a big word...she knows that Justine is the biggest challenge out there for her right now and it must be paining her to know that she just ain't ready for the challenge yet. This is much like all those losses to capriati back in the days, all those losses in QF's of majors...she needs to work on gettin over the hump.

Does Justine consider Serena as her biggest opponent now?

Definitely not a Serena fan who has sense.

If by "almost every surface" you mean two surfaces. Meanwhile, Fed's beat Nadal on hard court, carpet, grass, and clay.

Oops, Didn't Serena got her ass kicked in the US OPEN?
Or you're trying to tell me US OPEN is a clay court tournament or what?

She said "I let her take advantage of me and I feel violated"

It's all about Serena ;)

P.s. She also mouthed "bitch" at Venus once during the AO Final they played. Guess she's jealous of big sis too. That Serena such a small, petty person. :bounce:

I always call my girlfriend " little slut". What if I call other people like this on the street?

Serena is frustrated with the way she's playing now. That has nothing to do with Justine, Sveta or Elena. She does not have the level of play she needs against the very top. That's very irritating when you know you can play so much better and probably beat the very top more times than not. I'm very proud of her though that she's playing this fall and prepping her game for next season. I hope she will do very well at the YEC.

I suspect it might have something to do with cleavage, but you may want to check with the sales clerks at Frederick's before jumping to any busty conclusions...

We were talking from Serena's perspective..Justine clearly has no opponent, as she is the best current player.

well maybe justine is "a little" jealous of serena slam or perhaps even just her wimby titles and serena's "a little" jealous of justine's current success...maybe, who knows...only the two of them know the real answer...maybe yes maybe no...
