They have 7 days (1 week) to compete, and what happen, They will starting on Friday 20th July 2002....What a waste of times! They should can used Monday-Thursday to compete!

I feel very UNFAIR for All Players whose compete for their country, and at the next 2-3 days they will have to compete for another WTA Tournament!

i hate it too, Bianka is nominated again, and this mean she will miss Sopot Qualifying.

this mean she has to play a challenger (but then she need a late entry or a WC) or she has another week off

i think it's because of the viewers. they have more to time on weekends to watch on tv or for coming to the stadiums...

...and the players interests are not that important for the big bosses...

Let's be reasonable-- why exactly does professional tennis exist. Mainly to entertain fans. If you played it Monday through Friday, you probably wouldn't get nearly as many fans to attend the matches as you would on Saturday and Sunday. And I'm guessing the compensation for the players for playing Fed Cup far exceeds what they might make playing the qualifying in Sopot or wherever. And it's probably a lot more gratifying to represent your country than to slog to some other nameless tournament on the Challenger Circuit!

They don't even show Fed Cup matches in Australia. So those that don't live nearby would either have to travel interstate to watch it or catch up with the results on the news / internet. :(

i would perfer the old Fed-Cup, like it was held in Frankfurt at the beginning from the 90´s

1 week, 8 teams, 2 groups

like World Team cup in düsseldorf.

Katulampa, in the other hand, players come from the last week playing tournaments and it is unfair to play Monday or Tuesday the Fed Cup tie, withouth adjuste their game to the surface.

It has to be played on the weekend cos' that allows players to be fit to compete;)

Well, at least in the US, there is no tv coverage. Fans really don't pack the stadiums because not many top players play every single time (I believe Monica :hearts: is the only one who plays every time she is not injured). Thus, they should either get rid of Fed Cup, or move it to a Wednesday-Friday schedule as that would be most fair.
