Compared to ATPtennis[dot]com, WTA's site looks soooo horrible. They have embedded video, very interesting links, more indepth following of players, etc.

I like the wta tour website more than the atp website, but that's just my opinon.

I disagree. I prefer the WTA website because it looks nicer, but they could do more stats and stuff I guess. :o

It's almost the same with level of tennis... Wta is mostly boring and sucks, when for example you watch 2 players from top 200.But when you watch players from Atp top200,you get a decent tennis match. The same is with their sites.

The WTA should at least make sure they don't have errors on the HTML code they create...

Using firefox i get an error message on each page in www.sonyericssonwtatour.com...

it's not just in firefox. I see it too.
but usually you can change it so it wouldn't alert on the error.

The people running WTAtour.com are incompetent.
For months they were mixing Aussie $ and US $ in their earnings list.
Total idiots involved with that site.

Yes, the WTA is pretty crappy compared to the ATP site. For one, the url is simply too long. On top of that, is also contains an uncommon name that's hard to spell. I have to resort to googling to find the right address. Contrast sonyericssonwtatour.com to atptennis.com.

Also, the stats are HORRIBLE. The ATP has a whole section devoted to tourwide stats, like ace leaders, highest percent of service games held, etc. while the WTA site has... nothing. Also, when you look up an ATO match, the info you get is incredible. You get the length of the match, aces, double faults, 1st serve percentage, first serve points won, second serve points won, break points saved, service games played, while the WTA site give you none of that.

Also, the interface is just bad. ATP has drop down menus- WTA has awful looking tabs instead. The ATP site has a search box for head to head on the home page. On the WTA, you first have to go to a players profile, then click a different tab. The minor things really add up- for instance, when two players have the same last name, or similar to it- like Henin and Dhenin, or Venus and Serena, both of them come up when you search for a specific player. You have to then specify which player. But when you to say, Henin's page, and then choose a head to head, they AGAIN ask you if you meant Henin's page or Dhenin- pure idiocy.

And the player profiles- I won't even go there.

And the ads. They take up a third of the page.

Don't you just enter in wtatour.com? It automatically goes to sonyericssonwtatour.com for me

Yes. Read this interesting article (http://http://www.wtaworld.com/showthread.php?t=320276)for more info on that.

I totally relate. Why would I want freaking Dhenin's H2H if I'm on Henin's profile?

You're right. When I first tried to find the women's site, I typed "wtatennis.com" assuming it was like the men's site. I had no idea that it redirects.

But if that's the case, then the WTA must realize that their "official" url is hard to type. Is Sony Ericsson really paying them that much for a stupid site name?

Hey AnnaK_4Ever, we need your help... apply for the job at Wtatour.com and "upgrade" that website with all the stats you always put in here. Therefore, all your efforts and talents would not be put to waste... and you'll also earn some cash at the same time.

Do this for us, will ya? ;)

I never have any problems getting to the site -- justs type in WTA at google and its the first listing. I rarely have problems with the page, and I'm using Firefox with a javascript blocker.

My only beef is that their search engine could be better. I always have problems searching for WTA players from the past by name. Since I greatly have an interest in and still follow the era in which I became a fan (I learn a lot at The Blast), that's a pain for me. They should update their data base search engin to make it more user friendly.

The other thing is, I almost always have to link back to ATP (from WTA most times), in order to get live scoreboards. Its not a pain, but I wish the boards were there and easily accessible at the women's site directly.

I have my theory on why they re-direct the page -- who knows how long any sponsor will last. Sony has been on board for quite a while now, but I wouldn't be surprised to see that change any time.

What will be the point of posting here, on WTAWorld, then?

You do not need to type in the full address to go to the page. Simply typing wtatour.com will redirect you straight to the home page.

Also, the interface is just bad. ATP has drop down menus- WTA has awful looking tabs instead.

WTAtour.com has dropdown menus aswell.

The ATP site has a search box for head to head on the home page. On the WTA, you first have to go to a players profile, then click a different tab.

Incorrect: You just click on players (not even having to select the h2h option from the dropdown menu) ... and then fill in the player names. While it is not on the front page, you don't have to go to a player's profile.

That being said, I do think the ATP site is a lot better, not for the reasons you mention though.

Why doesn't wtatour.com have a messageboard? Or do they have one and I just didn't see the link?
