View Full Version : Will Bartoli jack Daniela's spot? (Updated Version)

Daniela has been working so hard, playing a lot of tournaments, getting 70 points there and 50 here and occassionaly a 110 point pot and bigger.

It seems like she was in firm command of the #9 YEC race spot as Bartoli suddenly developed her infatuation with 1st rd losses in the last few tournaments

Anyways, in 1 week, Dementieva scores 430 points and is now approximately 60 race points behind Daniela. That is WAY too close to comfort! Dementieva is not only within striking distance, but with her serve now reaching the mid 120 mph/200km, there's no telling what her Russian ass could do. Bartoli made the quarters of Zurich and is now 50 points behind Daniela. Will Daniela hold on to the #9 YEC race spot?

Discuss.

if elena manages to qualify for the YEC after this abysmal year (minus today) i would crack the fuck up.

Elena has a shot if she plays well in zurich(hopefully a final, win probably won't be possible with justine in the mix) and gets a linz wildcard. Daniela will not go further then quarters at most at zurich(justine) but she's playing linz AND quebec. She can gain a lot of points there. It's hard to say, if elena does well in zurich and daniela gets upset by safina elena has a pretty good shot.

have to wait till after zurich, because both have difficult draws.

It's hard to saw because they might both lose early in Zurich and make it an easy-in for Maria. Can Elena beat Serena outside of her home city? It will be even harder for her in Zurich, especially if the court is playing faster and Serena is serving well. But who knows, maybe Patty will be inspired like she has been in the past in Zurich and upset the American before losing to Lena? ;)

Daniela will play Linz also (Elena not!) and that is her best chance. Also in Zurich Lena.D will play against Serena already in 2nd Round... Serena played in Moscow day after day 4 matches before down in 2nd set of final, but in Zurich she will play only one match before Dementieva!

But for Elena or Dani at YEC Maria (or Venus) must withraw from Madrid at first.

the real question is btwn the two of them which one will actually win a match?

Wait, Daniela doesn't even have her spot yet. Maria has to withdraw, because there's a very slight chance that Daniela will pass her.

I'd love it if she did because she is clearly the best out of those 3 and would give everyone a run for their money at the YEC apart from Justine.

She's 0-9 in the last three years, 3-13 overall.

the only way i see daniela going winless in the group is if she gets henin, serena, and venus all in the same group

I think we should wait and see if any of them pass Sharapova in the race. So I voted for the "Get it together" option.

I'd be happy if Elena made the Zurich 2R and finished her year there. No need to go 42-21 when it could be 42-18 :tape:

I am looking for Ms Dementieva to "push on" after today's triumph.

With her game she should be a permanent fixture in the top 5 at the very least.

Let's see what happens in Zurich .... :tape:

OMG, both players won their 1st rd match

Dementieva now faces Patty Schynder, whome she beat last week without MERCY!!! RAWR!!!

Hantuchova faces Lucky Loser Radwanska, who wants to take a bite out of Dani!!! RAWR!!!!!

thats kind of mean. i mean she's beaten everyone in the top 10 (i believe)

well, not to worry--I expect sharapova and a williams sister to withdraw, so there will be room for both of them.

Dementieva's defeated every grand slam champion since 1994 at least once aside from Seles, whom she lost to once. She never faced Graf or Novotna.

But she just doesn't do well at the YEC. Too much pressure on her shoulders, or perhaps burnout after struggling all year just to get there.

Elena's draw opened up a ton. She has a great chance to get to the semifinals or even final, whereas Dani's road ends at the quarterfinal at best.

If that pans out I would just fucking die if Elena ended up at the YEC NOT an alternate. :tape: Edit: Oh yeah, Dani plays for two more weeks, so it may not be entirely hopeless for Daniela.

I'd prefer her to being double bageled 3 times at YEC than lost here in 2nd round... But she wont make yec, she must win here...

I thought Serena would be in R2. I expect/want Elena in at least the semifinals now, the dynamic of Zurich changed.

Too bad for Daniela if Elena does make it. She'd really be making it on the back of 3-4 results, which seems highly injust.

I think it's kind of sad either could be there. I love both immensely, and each had the occasional fantastic result, but the top eight players I hope are there, with Daniela and Elena as the alternates.

Same as Dani...Both sucked at slams, both has 1 TI title in this year (plus they met 2 times, and...who won? ;) )...Vaidisova fans may tell, that fact that Elena and Daniela are in top10, when Nicole isnt is highly injust...Nikki made 2 gs qfs and 1 sf, when Daniela and Elena werent able to pass 4rd round ;)

Actually, looking at their results there really isn't much in it. It's just the fact that Elena earned a vast majority of her points just a few weeks before the YEC. Makes it feel like Dani was cheated if Elena does overtake her (which I don't think she will), but I guess she has played equally well.

Almost half of Vaidisova's wins for this season have came from those three results.

I don´t give a shit about the YEC , really .

It´s better 2 tournaments in a year with one of them being a TIER I than making the YEC like the year 2005 with ZERO tournaments during the year

Mathematically its impossible for her to claim 8th spot. She's not even playing any more tournaments!

To Lena the YEC is not important at this time. Winning Moscow is more than qualifying for the YEC.

OK, so Elena Dementieva won't be at the YEC, but the poll also had the 3rd option, which is "Bartoli will jack both of them" and according to the YEC race stat, Bartoli is only approximately 50 points away from the 9th position (having made the quarters of Zurich already) and she plays Golovin next, whom she can beat last year. Can Bartoli do it????

Ilikebigboobies

Jack is not really a suitable word.

But I do hope she does.

have to wait till after zurich, because both have difficult draws.

Bartoli defeats Peng and Krajicek to make the quarters while Daniela has to defeat Safina and Radwanska. And if Danka does make the quarters, she would face Henin. No offense to Peng and Krajicek, but it seems like Danka had the way harder draw.

Looks like the #9 spot (Daniela or Marion) will probably play the YEC...I'm sure ONE of the top eight *Vee-Serena-Maria* will withdraw.

Hantu or Bartoli or BOTH at the YEC ?!?! WTF !
