Maria has been forced to withdraw from Zurich and Linz due to continuing problems with her shoulder. Maria has had problems throughout the year with her shoulder.

Maria was the defending champion in both events.

That sucks! Maybe after two weeks of rest, she might give the YEC a go? But if her shoulder is not feeling well, then she should just rest and prep for next season.

"I have been training in a normal regime and I am physically 100 % fit,- the second seed of the Kremlin Cup-2007 Maria Sharapova assured the press today.

Shoulder injury, my ass. So, how many points will she lose  ?

Thats a lot of points to lose (Tier I and Tier II points).

Hopefully she recovers and rehabilitates over the off-season and comes back stronger in 2008.

Sharapova withdrawn on purpose. She heard of your highly possible suicide after the Serena's loss today.

Another theory: After watching Serena losing miserably against Dementieva in her home country, Sharpie decided not to play Zurich and Linz because she is busy with partying :p

In that case she should be back by the YEC.

I wouldn't be surprised if she skips the YEC. It might be for the best though, she needs to get that shoulder healthy.

Sharapova should just focus on healing her shoulder. if she back to 100%, she will regain her ranking.

I wonder if her sponsors and the Tour will let her skips the YEC. :tape:

If she loses in straights against Azarenka, I'm sure she doesn't want to go 0-3 down in YEC.

she is not out yet for Linz. She wrote a letter to the WTA that she tries to play Linz and has therefore not withdrawn yet

Definitely will take a big hit to the ranking and its very possible for Hantuchova to pass her in the race now.

She replace Masha in Zurich main draw like 4th seed and after that even autograph instead her ;) :tape: .

She deserve credit from Maria fans.

Sorry, but Maria is an idiot if she's still considering playing Linz. She was out for two months, played ONE match that was only 2 sets and her shoulder was bothering her enought to withdraw from another tournament. So something that wasn't healed over two months is now miraculously going to heal in one week? She's either lying about the shoulder injury and needs to put up or shut up or she's an idiot for continuing to play with a now chronic injury.

No wonder all these girls hate Maria (not necessarily Ivanovic). But imagine how many times per month the other Eastern blondes get asked to sign when fans think they are Sharapova. :tape:

My feeling's that she's leaving the possibility of playing Linz open in case her YEC qualification becomes in jeopardy. She'll likely not play it but likely will play YEC.

yea i think this is why....but still she shouldn't play anymore this year....with her US Open title points and Zurich points gone the real bulk of her points come from her AO finals and she will need to defend those points if she wants to start the year on the right foot...or at least make a semi
