View Full Version : Serena Can Be #2 After Madrid

Oct 14th, 2007, 05:11 AM
Should Serena win Moscow, Zurich and Madrid she should be world #2 regardless of what players like Kuznetsova, Jankovic and Ivanovic do over the coming weeks.

I just watched a clip of her semi final match against Kuznetsova on YouTube.com and she looks like she's serving, returning and also moving very well.

If she keeps up this level of play I think theres a genuine possibility that she could end 2007 as the world #2 which would be great as it would ensure going into the Australian Open that she wouldn't meet up against Henin until at least the final which would be a great final.

Would be great for her.. but not sure she will able to sustain such play .. shes likely to pull out of Zurich if she wins in Moscow

be quite a task for her, but its not impossible by any means.

It'd be nice for her either way, so that she and Justine could only meet in finals.

Careful, now.....careful.

She likes the letter "M"... winning titles this year in Melbourne and Miami... will Moscow and Madrid be added to her list????? i hope so

Well nobody thought Rena would win 4 straight majors so hey you never know....

but even just a title today would seal the best season for Serena since 2003!

clear signs of improvement to me ...

1. Short little jumps up/down
2. Little tricks with the ball before serving
3. Upper arm muscle/ little bit less fat in the chest (compared to the fashion pics last month)
4. Attitude towards opponent and self

I see clear improvements even during this tournament.

 I really don't think this is possible.

The battle for YE #2 will be between Kuznetsova, Jankovic and Ivanovic.

If Caroline Maes wins all grand slams next year she can be number 1

Or in other words, let's take it one match/tournament at a time...

This is Serena Williams we're talking about, no offense to Carolina Maes. Impossible isn't in her vocabulary. As far as I'm concerned, finishing in the top 4 would be great. Avoiding Henin until at least the semis is the name of the game right now.

first of all, she won't play Zurich. even if she plays, she will withdraw during the tournament.

Oct 14th, 2007, 11:59 AM
would be nice but don't think it will happen

That's good, though unprobable, but not impossible.

Jinxed once again :o

Serena will be lucky to survive the rr stage at Madrid unless she plays more consistently.
