I remember I zapped on the TV and saw Davenport - Graf, think it was 96 Olympic, Davenport won and I remember I was very impressed by Davenport, she was fat and dident move well, and won...I think I started watch a lot tennis from that moment... my favourite match so far is the semifinal between Henin - S Williams in Roland Garros 2003, great moment :)

Women-wise...uh...some Capriati match at the USO 04. Probably the Serena one, but I didn't like. Really watch it watch it. The first tennis match I watched in general was some Andy Roddick match at that same event (his hotness is why I became a tennis fan, unfortunately :o ).

First women's match I really sat down and watched was...I keep wanting to say the 2005 Wimbledon final, but I know I saw some Pierce match at the French, and Justine beat down Sharapova at the French too. But again, I didn't really really watch either...

The first (women's) match I watched that I remember vividly is the 2006 Wimbledon QF between Sharapova/Dementieva. :tape: I really didn't watch much women's tennis before Wimbledon last year it seems...

I remember watching glimpses of the YEC Final which Hingis won in '98 and parts of the French Open final in 1998 between Sanchez-Vicario and Seles. But the first matches I remember watching vividly were the Indian Wells (or was it Miami?) final between Steffi and Serena in 1999 and most of all the French Open final between Graf and Hingis that same year.

i had followed tennis on and off through the late 90's but the match that got me hooked was seles vs serena '01 toronto (or montreal) semi final it was so close and was still one of the greatest matches i've seen. i lost my love for tennis early '03 (i think the sisters domination put me off, not cus they annoyed me just it got predictable) and got well and truely hooked again by mary pierce against daniliidou wimbledon '03 2nd round! i still have it on tape mary hit 31 winners to 5 unforced errors, she was so good and hit the ball so cleanly!

I have actually no clue . at home , Mum loved to watch Roland Garros so it's like that I first heard the names Garf Novotna Seles Fernandez Sanchez ... but which is the first match I watched live and entirely ? maybe 94 SF Pierce-Graf or 93 F Graf-MJ Fernandez

I actually got interested in tennis in 94 (RG/Wimbledon)

I was very frustrated because I could not watch a lot of tennis bc of French broadcast -except during RG .

AO 2002 singles final Jennifer Capriati vs. Martina Hingis starting at 4-5 in the first set. I remember being forced to watch it as my mom used to watch TV a lot in my room. Fell in love with the Jeneral, ironically enough, I loathed Martina Hingis on reputation alone back then and was glad she retired. Of course, I educated myself more and became a staunch defender and admirer of all things Hingis.

Since people are bringing up Andy Roddick, I remember hearing the hype around him in early 2002 so I decided to look into it. Saw him beat Sampras in the Houston final. Jumped on. Geez do I feel old...You all must be in your teens on this board. Where are all the older fans?

The first match I recall actually watching and being mesmerized by was the 1990 French Final (Graf vs Seles) My brother who was 7 years older then me was obsessed with tennis and I remember him just saying "wow this girl is unbelievable" and "She will be #1" I sat there and watched even though I had no idea how to keep score or the rules of the game and found out she was my same age. I remember by the end of the match being so intrigued with her. I was a fan ever since.
