Sveta played Serena in Stuttgart and Moscow. This could be 3 straight times.

Sveta played Serena in Stuttgart and Moscow. This could be 3 straight times. Aaaagh, poor Sveta! She's shown she can beat Serena, but she needs to be on top form to do so. And as she's getting more and more tired as the season winds to its end...

Actually I wish Sveta would just take a rest until the Year End Championships, and go there fully fit and raring to go... But hey! I don't suppose she'll listen to me ;)

Afteer Serena's performance today i think it's more like Sveta will play Elena in the qf's, Vamos Sveta.

I guess Serena (if she plays there) will take "revenge" again and now beat Elena. So I guess it's Serena vs. Sveta again

Good luck!

Sveta hasn't played yet and she's the only Russian player left in the draw.
Anna, Nadia and Maria S didn't play.
Vera, Maria K, Lena, and Dinara didn't get past round 1.

That was a little too close for comfort, but well done Sveta for pulling through, maybe we didn't give Bammer enough credit. Lol at Bammer winning more points than Sveta though and losing. Vamos against Schiavone Sveta.

This is typical Sveta. I saw her loss to Golovin, both of them in the last few months. Sveta isn't playing like a #2.

Too close for comfort, yes. But let's hope now that Sveta can get a bit more consistency, and make the most of the draw which is wide open now with several of the top names having lost.

Injured Kuznetsova forced to quit

ZURICH, Switzerland (AP) -- Italy's Francesca Schiavone is through to the semifinals of the Zurich Open on Friday after second seed Svetlana Kuznetsova was forced to retire from their last eight clash with a right shoulder injury.

Russian Kuznetsova was trailing 6-3 3-3 when she was forced to pull out, leaving Schiavone to play either ninth seed Marion Bartoli or Tatiana Golovin for a place in the final.
"It's not that serious, but I need time off," Kuznetsova said. "I didn't have much time to recover after last night's match. The muscle is very tight and I can't move my arm up. It just got worse and worse as the match went on."
Kuznetsova is the third player to retire this week. On Tuesday, sixth-seeded Serena Williams retired with a sore right thigh and Elena Dementieva pulled out with left thigh injury the next day.
"It's late in the season," Kuznetsova said. "I'd love to play less matches, but I have commitments to certain tournaments. You have to be smart with your calendar these days."
