 Why am I always the only realistic Elena fan when she faces a sister?

Davai Lena but. This is a HUGE ask of her. Particularly against Serena. Let's hope she can pull the upset.

This would probably be Elena's biggest "fuck you" to her naysayers if she did win Moscow--so many people thought she'd never be top 10 again. Now it's just one win away.

after evrybody said (and I thought so too at the US open) she is done I am so happy with the last weeks and the possibility that she ends again in the top 10

What will she be if she loses to Serena? Is there still a chance on Top 10 if this year if she loses tommorow?

#13. She needs Mauresmo, Bartoli, Hantuchova, and probably Schnyder to do poorly in Zurich to get in the top 10 AFTER Zurich if she loses the Moscow final and does decent next week (QF or SF). And honestly, it's likely for all of them

she would have to gain next week 130 more points than all players in the rankings above her (11th to 10th), and she would we top 10, of losing she would be 13! ;)

If she can make it a physical battle she has a good chance.Serena was good today but she's very beatable (her movements...).

So whatever happens tommorow Top 10 is possible and I think that would give her confidence knowing that after an average seaons with injusries etc. she still managed a top 10

I agree, I don't like her chances against SW. It's just a huge mental block for her, even though Lena's form has been very good recently.

I am happy with the final, and to see her back within striking distance of the Top 10. She'll get there.

Yelling at Mommy Vera, smacking 120 mph serves, winding up the full-body rotation screaming forehand of death--I like my Lena with a little pepper and vinegar!

IMO Elena is the favourite for this final. The last time she played Serena at the Champs they played two tight sets. Then in that exhibtion tournament in January she totally smacked Serena down and don't tell me it doesn't mattr because it does...This players don't like to loe at all even if in an exo. Plus Elena is thirsty for titles and goo results again and I can smell the win tomorrow.

But if Elena is not top 10 at the end of this season she can play (and win) more TIER III during the next year .

As much as I'm happy for Lena, getting into the top 10 seems to be quite easy these days. I mean, she's done hardly anything all year - 2 titles is good, but..............I'm digging myself a hole :p

Congrats Lena :yeah:

Welcome back. And I agree, its astonishing after the year she has had... but she did begin picking it up from the hardcourt season (except USO).

Congrats to her, this will go a long way to cementing her place on the Russian Olympic team.

Congrats to her, this will go a long way to cementing her place on the Russian Olympic team.

I was thinking that with Sharapova not playing much and with the big points she can lose at the start of the year, she might not be ranked high enough to be part of the Russian team.I read something about 4 players qualified for each Olympic team, so if Kuzy, Chakvetadze, Petrova and Dementieva are all ranked higher than her, I suppose that Maria won't play the Olympics.Dementieva should fight for that, she has a good chance to be part of the team now.
