Linz 2006

#20 Nicole Vaidisova (QF vs Jankovic)

Australian Open 2007

#12 Nicole Vaidisova (3R vs Srebotnik)

Other matches where I'm positive a player hit 10 aces or more, but can't remember the exact figure:

Linz 2006

Nicole Vaidisova (2R vs Santangelo) - 10 or 11. Maybe more.

US Open 2006

Maria Sharapova (1R vs Krajicek) - I think 10 or 11 again, but I'm not sure.

Damned be the WTA for not collecting these stats like the ATP does.

I must raport one incredibile "aces" result. At Serbia vs Romania FED CUP match in midle of the 2nd set of Ana Ivanovic vs Monica Nicolescu match when Ana have some strange medical problems (even stop to play before end of one game to use "medical time-out" ).

Here is GAME LOG from that part of the match:

CURRENT RESULT:
Monica Niculesku (0 aces) vs. Ana Ivanovic (2 aces) 7-5 1-2 *30-15

7-5, 1-2, *40-15 Ace#1 for Niculesku
7-5, 2-2*, with Ace#2 for Niculesku

than Ana hold game-serve for 7-5 *2-3

7-5, 2-3, *15-00 Ace#3 for Niculesku
7-5, 2-3, *30-00
7-5, 2-3, *40-00 Ace#4 for Niculesku
7-5, 2-3, *40-15 (Ivanovic use medical)
7-5 3-3*, with Ace#5 for Niculesku

than Ana hold game-serve for 7-5 *3-4

7-5, 3-4, *15-00 Ace#6 for Niculesku
7-5, 3-4, *30-00 Ace#7 for Niculesku

Can you belive??? 7 of 9 serves in the row is ended with ace!?!? In woman tennis (and #150 do it #2 :tape:)!? Ana won that match at end 5-7 6-4 7-5 and Monica finished i think "only" with 9 aces at end (obviously something is very wrong with Ana in that part of match) but i think this record deserved to be remembered here. Is enybody know example like this in woman tennis??? Even from 10K tournaments???

7 of 9

^^

Hmm, I am really worried about the fact that the scoreline against Serena was identical... I think Alicia took that loss really hardly, being that she led in every game at least 30-0 before loosing it...and she led in the second set before loosing that.

Either way, Molik is a confidence player, and if she can start regularly beating those girls we all know she should be, hopefully she will rise again.

22 aces is the stat that I am really happy about, if the serve is working, the movement and shot selection isn't that far behind.
