I don't know if this has been posted or not as I only just saw that Tashkent has a website, here's the article:

Mysknia wowed by Tashkent

It was a fabulous moment for the tiny tots in Uzbekistan Tennis Federation's Junior Tennis Initiative on Friday.

They were presented tennis kits by none other than Anastasia Myskina, former world No 2 player and French Open champion in 2004. It was part of the Kiddies Day celebrations at the Tashkent Open 2007.

It was also a fabulous moment for Myskina herself, for two reasons. One being part of the Kiddies Day celebrations, the other because she is part Uzbek herself.

"It was awesome", gushed the 26-year-old, 1.74 m tall Myskina about the colourful function at the centre-court of the Tashkent Tennis Centre, which featured a song-and-dance routine from the popular group Alo and singer Nigina Nabieva.

"Everything was fantastic, the songs, the dance and the kids. They were simply great," said Myskina at a press conference following the function. "They were so positive, they had so much energy."

Asked how she felt it was to be back in Tashkent, and at the tennis centre, Myskina was again effusive.

"It's a pleasure to be here," said Myskina. "You know, my grandmother was born here in Uzbekistan and it's really great for me to be here.

"I'm so glad the tournament committee invited me here. Thank you very much."

Myskina has played at this event herself, the first one in 1999, as an 18-year-old, ranked 272 in the world. She lost in the first round after playing three rounds of qualifying.

When asked if she would want to participate in the tournament again, the Myskina replied: "I would love to, let us see sometime in the future."

Myskina is currently off tennis following a toe injury on her left foot suffered late last year. Asked about when she planned to return to the game, was very philosophical. "I have to take it as it comes. I tried a comeback in January (Auckland) and then again the French Open. You know what happened.

"When I get on court I feel I cannot move. So I am not planning a date to make a return. But I will come back."

More than this. She's the epitome of grace, beauty and feminity. And one of the cleverest players having ever graced tennis courts to boot. The real chess player of tennis strategy. Gosh, I miss her so much. Glad she's thinking of being back some day.
