Congrats Justine! Elena  All that hard work to get back on serve in each set and then broken for the set both times :o

A respectable effort I think against the best player in the world.

Doesnt look like a great match from the stats, but Im sure there were a bunch of exciting rallies. If Elena hadnt slipped into an 0-5 hole in the first she could have taken the set, but its a good win for Justine. Does she play Jankovic in the semi, again? :o

justine :yeah: Haven't lost before the semis in a long long time

Lena not too bad, 6-4 6-4 is a pretty competitive score, but you didn't serve as well as in your other matches. Maybe because of the returnpressure justine gives when the ball isn't good enough. KEEP GOING, you're on the right track.

Wonderful fight from Elena. Could have pulled both sets to 5-5 but Justine just is a bit better. I wanted a tight match and got it. There's so little separating those two, just belief and variety really.

Make it a Serena/Henin final baby. :clap2:

Man, if she had challenges left in the final game of the 1st set, Dementieva would have tied the scores at 5-5... two of her serves were called "out/fault" even though they hit the line... :tape:

Well, at least she did an amazing job of making Justine fight for the win...

As for Justine... :yeah: Now for Jelena (did anyone saw her watching the match from the Porsche there.. .she was camera-shy  )

Lena  Decent week with 2 really solid wins

Justine just played the big points better today, and could have easily been a different match had Lena broken in the 1st game of the match. Lena is saving her best for Moscow ;)

It's great to see Justine keeps up her amazing streak of not losing before the SF! :worship:

It could have been a easier today, but she knows she has the toughest two matches left, so it was a good result in the end.

ALLEZ!!!

The worst day at serve for Elena in the most important match of the week

With 50% of first serve , Elena was not gonna win vs the number 1 of the world

Congratulations Justine.

I've liked what I've seen from Elena this week.
If she can continue the improvement with the serve.... in 2008 she's back in business.

No one mentioned Justine was 50 in the first set?

A good match from Lena, pushed too hard in the first 5 games and started hitting errors, but she raised her game and Justine dropped. Back on serve, at *45, I knew that DF on SP was coming. The ball toss was so far out to the right, and never got high enough, when I saw the ball toss I said "Double fault for sure"

Still, a good week for Lena, focus and prepare for Moscow, where she will be at home and has SF to defend.

But at least a good tournament! :)
Itīs very annoying that she lost her service game at 4-5 in both sets.:fiery:

Well, I was expecting a much worse scoreline against the evil sprout.

This is the first loss all year that hasn't made me want to yank Lena by her ponytail and scream "Get a real coach!" for a couple of days.

So close in both sets to taking it to 5-all. Coming back from 0-5 in the first was the first time this year we've seen the fightin', never-say-die Lena D. that made so many of us fans of hers in the first place. Let's hope she keeps it up in Moscow and into '08.

Congrats to Juju.

Congrats to Justine, she had to earn it & she converted on the big pts when she needed to, Lena didn't give her an easy win.

Lena  great fighting spirit from her after trailing 5-0 1st set to bring it back to 5-4 & she even held a pt to even it at 5-5 so who knows what would of happened had she converted that pt. she also displayed fight when she was down 5-2 in the 2nd set to bring it back to 5-4. i'm proud of you lena :yeah: and do well at moscow :D

Congrats Elena on a fine tournament. Nice to see that fighting spirit of you on display again. To bad that you couldn't make it to 5-5. Congrats Justine, now go get that yellow Porsche. (Somehow I find the image of Justine in a yellow Porsche funny, well we'll see on Sunday...)

No, nothing would have changed because of that. How could one game change the match, when she still can't held serve in the most important moments?

Lena is saving her best for Moscow ;)

cant disagree with you about that

cant disagree with you about that

Because she had 5 breaks points and that game clearly shaped the momentum for the whole match really. After missing BP's in the 1st game which was a fairly long 1st game she went onto lose the next 4 in rapid succession.

I thought Elena put up a brilliant fight to go 5-4 after being down 5-0, shame she couldn't serve it out to go 5-5.

If Elena had been serving like she was against Hantuchova and Mauresmo she would have won this match. Unfortunately for her she wasn't as confident on her serve as she was in previous matches. Overall a very good tourney for her. :)
Well done, Ju, although it wasn't a stellar performance.

Kind of lame, but I'm pretty happy with Elena's result here.

I reckon 2 months ago, she might have been double bagelled against Justine, the way she was going at that point in time.
