AnnaK - Question: do these numbers count all wins against players that have won slams, or just wins that occurred AFTER the player has won a slam? For instance, Venus beat Henin many times before Henin won a major, are these numbers included in your ratio or not?

I am guessing they are, as it would be hard to sort out, but thought I'd ask.

They are. ;)
Imagine if I have left out 95% matches Novotna played before winning Wimbledon, or 85% matches Clijsters played before winning USO, or Mauresmo...

Nice to see Serena up there. I think that just like she did in 20002 she can still go from top player nowadays to TOP player.

Well just think of it this way: Serena and Justine only have to meet maybe 5 or 6 more times for Justine to catch up. :)

Steffi... :spit: :worship:

Didn't know Justine's W/L ration against fellow GS Champions was that darn high  . She still has a chance to overtake Serena if she continues her current impressive form.

If Justine wins Stuttgart and Zurich, she will overtake Davenport, Venus and Martina (assuming the 3 doesn't play/win any matches until next year). Add in the YEC, and she might even surpass Serena and a whisker off Monica.

Maria's one is also not bad... if she do well in Moscow and YEC, she might leap over Davenport and Venus. Win both of them, and she'll be on top of Serena.

It's so hard to believe Martina was as good as she was...like...her story is so tragic.

Well its tragic because she had the grandslam in her hands but lost to Majoli, could have made a great career grandslam at '99 but lost to Graf, and lost many other finals that she could have won... but no I don't think its that tragic.. :) It unfortunate.

...Connolly, Lenglen, Mallory...

Of course I mentioned only most recent Slam winners whose win-loss records are available. But Graf's, Sabatini's, Capriati's, Davenport's, Sanchez's H2Hs with past champions (Navratilova, Evert, Mandlikova) included.

You know, Andy Warhol died a tragic (and in many eyes unnecessary) death a few years back, but his 15 minutes of fame style of work lives on, and still touches us all in some way, shape or form. For what it's worth, I give to you a big fat can of juicy, red, ripe Campbell's tomato soup, in living colour.
