VENUS MOLIK
Aces: 15 22
doubles: 6 3
1st serve%: 66% 68%
break points saved: 6/8 9/13
1st serve points won: 36/52 32/49
2ns serve points won: 9/27 8/23

overall a good tournament for Alicia, but I thought she should have taken the second set, twice 30-0 up at 3-3 and 3-4, but lost them both...anyway, good effort and congrats to Venus

Brilliant serving stats for Molik.
That's what separates her from a lot of girls who can't serve to save their lives.

Lish, I'am so impressed with your week in Tokyo, you won two matches so comfortably & you push a player like Vee to two tough sets so you should have something to be proud of :yeah:

good work alicia, well done venus. I still wish she were playing a higher tier tourny, she could easliy be playing the same players there with more points for half the effort. If she misses out on the YEC coz of this:mad::mad::mad:

once again people, Venus was committed to playing these events prior to YEC qualification factors, if she makes it, she makes it, if she doesn't, she'll go have her nails done. Venus doesn't give a rats azz about YEC unlike certain players (not gonna mention any name elena d last year, dani, shoulderpova) who are desperate to qualify.

Yep, I'd rather live like Venus than those other players. Venus is basically doing this again: rocking to the beat of her OWN drum. Enjoying life - a different setting - a different environment. Enjoying life as she sees it & not getting caught up in what somebody else wants you to do. I love it. It's the best approach to living. Keep doing your thing Vee

haha you make it sound like a bad thing to be desperate to qualify for the YEC?well, if u kno u have a chance to win the YEC, then the effort of trying to qualify is worth it, but I mean, look at Elena D last year, she worked her azz up to qualify and then stank up the place:lol:, if Dani qualifies, I have a feeling she's pulling an Elena this year.

Well when they on they are both great servers. Molik always has a ton of aces. That's why some people regard Molik as the best server on the wta tour. Maybe Venus seeing Molik hitting all those aces motivated her to hit some. LOL.

this is all good for Alicia. Playing an in form champion so tough is a better result than beating some lower ranked player. I'm quite confident Molik would have beaten anyone left in the draw bar perhaps Razzano or Mirza in form.

Molik served 22 aces in two sets???!!! That's Karlovic-like. That just doesn't happen in women's tennis, especially not against a player as good as Venus. Venus must, herself, have played very well to withstand such a barrage. Kind of like the Kuznetsova vs Radwasnska match, this looks like one in which fans of both players can take a lot of heart and feel good about the performance of their favorite.

Because an ace is only worth one point, that's how. How many points did Molik win on her serve when Venus actually hit the ball back?
