Good luck, Masha! :rocker2:

It is absolutely ridiculous for the likes of Bovina, Kraijeck, Mirza and radwanska to be seeded ahead of Maria. What are they thinking?

Bovina will probably withdraw like she always does. :o Hope she gets it together soon.

The Kremlin Cup will be a good measuring stick for Makiri. With a stronger field here, we will see how her current form holds up against the stiffer competition. I have a pretty good feeling the crowd will be pulling for her more than the other Russians and be the overall favorite in their hearts. Being that she struggled mightily last year and early part of this season. Good luck Makiri!!!

Oct 6th, 2007, 04:45 PM
Tough draw. Exactly what I had feared.

Good luck, Maria!

Oct 6th, 2007, 04:52 PM
Not a good draw, but it could've been even worse! This is a very tough field! Makiri needs to play her best here!

Oct 6th, 2007, 07:07 PM
A tough one, but Maria will take her if she plays as she has done in recent tournies. She never liked carpet, but just took the Kolkata (carpet.)

Maria should be fresh for this tournament. I'm sure she won't want to disappoint her home crowd.

Maria has a very tough draw in Moscow. I hope she plays good tennis for the hometown crowd and isn't nervous about playing in Moscow.

They lost 6-2 6-3 .

Never mind about the doubles, bit of a rough draw against the top seeds. I'm really concerned about tomorrow's match. Radwanska had a couple of tough matches last week against Bartoli and Kuznetsova (winning the first and losing the second). The crowd could be really important - if they get behind masha, it might put off the inexperienced youngster.

I don't think the draw is too bad really. Mauresmo is beatable at the moment, at least if Masha plays like she did against Hantuchova.

Centre (from 11.00hrs)
1. Gagliardi vs. Vesnina
2. ATP: Davydenko vs. Tsonga (NB 13.00hrs)
3. Molik vs. Dementieva (NB 15.00hrs)
4. Kirilenko vs. A.Radwanska (NB 16.30hrs)
5. ATP: Matsukevitch vs. Safin (NB 18.00hrs)
6. ATP: Zverev vs. Tursunov

Maria will be playing in the wee hours of the morning where I live, so I'll have to hope that I get good news when I log in to work tomorrow!

Personally, I feel she has a good draw. She didn't draw a seed right away and the seed that she would play next, #6 Mauresmo, is arguably the shakiest of the eight seeds at this moment. Radwanska is definitely no sure win.

Oct 9th, 2007, 12:27 AM
Go maria!!

it´s a very difficult macht! but you can win!

Oct 9th, 2007, 08:25 AM
Good luck Maria. We believe in you

Oct 9th, 2007, 07:36 PM
Maria lost :confused Agnieszka Radwanska won 6/4 4/6 6/1

She did wear a different version of her brown dress, it was white with yellow bra and underwear. It looked great and i like it better than the brown colour. But pitty i wont see again for awhile

Oct 9th, 2007, 07:53 PM
Makiri :((((

Oct 9th, 2007, 08:49 PM
mariki:(:(:( what happend ?

Oct 10th, 2007, 03:17 AM
Too many errors. :(

Oct 10th, 2007, 09:46 AM
okay, I'll say that she was tired by her 2 beautiful weeks...and I'll forget about this stupid match!

Oct 10th, 2007, 11:31 AM
She has had a week off to rest remember. I watched the whole match and she didn't play THAT badly. Too many poor groundstrokes and a lot of missed forehands I thought.

For 2 players with a combined ranking of 60 it was a pretty good match. Maria should have come to the net more and after she looked to have turned the match around at the end of the first set and start of the 2nd, she lost her way again. Radwanska was tricky but at her best Masha could have won.

I can't help but notice that she plays better when her boyfriend is not around. I said the same thing after the US Open and her poor loss to Vakulenko. If you want to succeed in tennis, you have to be 100% focused.

Oct 10th, 2007, 12:05 PM
you're right only one maria! I forgot about one week of rest...but I'm trying to find her some excuses...
btw what you told about the match is good I mean, she wasn't playing badly
she still have to work of course, sometimes when you have a new coach it takes time if you see what I mean...
if she keeps working hard, keeps focused, she'll certainly play a great season in 2008

as for the part about her boyfriend...don't know, maybe you're right, she realy needs to be focused only on her tennis but i can't help thinking that it's important to have a boyfriend and igor can understand her and her job because he is a tennis player too...
as long has she keeps a fighting spirit it is okay with me

Oct 10th, 2007, 03:12 PM
She may not like the slower court. Was definitely not as quick as the one in Calcutta.

Look, I'm not attacking Masha for having a bf, I just think when they are at the same tournament, it can become a distraction from the tennis. Igor hasn't played yet, but I wouldn't be surprise if he loses.

Oct 10th, 2007, 03:22 PM
I know you're not attacking Masha for having a bf...you're just realistic
I also think that if she wants a big career she'll need to stay more focused and that igor can be a distraction...I'm just thinking too that maybe her tennis is not her main interest in life...who knows? I will not blame her for that!

Too many errors for sure. And didn't take advantage of Radwanska's poor play. :(

Oct 10th, 2007, 07:31 PM
Stats of Maria's 1st round loss (from www.kremlincup.ru):

Oct 10th, 2007, 08:02 PM
I'm amazed at these power statistics they've come up with. They suggest masha has some of the hardest shots on tour, but it doesn't seem that way watching her.

Her serve is pretty nippy though, given she's not the tallest.

Oct 12th, 2007, 07:13 PM
I'm hating Radwanska more and more
Anyway, good luck Maria for the next tournamant :wavey:
