View Full Version : Ksenia Palkina of Kyrgyzstan has reached the quarterfinals of Tashkent!

I'm pretty sure she's the first woman from her country to ever win a match on tour, let alone the quarterfinals of event. She beat Uzbekistani wild card Vlada Ekshibarova 7-5 5-7 7-5 in the second round:)

It's always nice to see players from different countries doing well and it looks like Central Asia might be in the beginning of stages of producing some talented players. Uzbekistan obviously has Tulyaganova and now Akgul, but now Palkina is moving through the ranks, Amina Rakhim (of Kazhakstan) won a 25K last year, and Ekshibarova beat a top 100 player this week. Hopefully they can all keep it going!

Ksenia :hearts: I'm really pleased for her, but her next match will be very tough, but it's still the best week of her career already anyway. :lol: :yeah:
